  1. Ville Leino? John Scott? Tyson Strachan? Zac Dalpe? Andrej Meszaros? Who is the best free agent they have signed in the last 5 years? Certainly nobody worth getting excited over. God forbid a die-hard fan want the best for his favorite team, and gets pissed off about always losing...I'll stay away. Good luck.
  2. Makes me curious...how many of you are willing to bet the Sabres make the playoffs before the Leafs do?
  3. Hilarious how people all of a sudden don't want him and think he is overrated and not worth the money. Lol.
  4. Because they never had it to begin with...that's what they were going after him for. It's even been said here time and time again.
  5. I can only imagine what the genius of SabreSpace is laughing at...there's nothing comical about this situation. Oh, I forgot...Luke Richardson is the next Mike Babcock, he's done an amazing job winning Calder Cups every year.
  6. It's about much more than that...it's about credibility, it's about getting good players to come to Buffalo. They lost all of that, over $1-$2 million dollars.
  7. Disgusted by this outcome...Paul Hamilton said, "the Sabres were getting tired and had enough." Great, are they not "tired" of losing everything they go after...haven't they "had enough" of that? Now we get stuck with Luke Richardson, who has done no better than Chadd Cassidy in the AHL...what a joke. (And if the Sabres were offering $7M/year, they really couldn't push it another $1M? That's embarrassing.)
  8. I found out it's July 23rd... "On July 23, 2014, O'Reilly and the Avalanche agreed to a two-year contract worth $12 million." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_O%27Reilly_(ice_hockey) Anybody who wouldn't want this kid on the team, is crazy...he is easily a top-6 forward on the Sabres. He is one of the top-2 leading scorers for Canada in the tournament right now, and was one of the hottest players in the league down the stretch. (I think he is better off on the wing, with a good center...that is where he has found the most success...and that is where he would be if Murray snagged him in a trade.)
  9. You really don't think they would trade him for a 1st round pick, when they don't have one? Wasn't he on their 3rd line?
  10. I was just watching this exact video and came to see if it was posted...that whole drive at 1:20 is absolutely, downright dirty! This kid is definitely better than Brian Flynn, folks. (First liner? Probably not. But I could see him being a hell of a 3rd liner.) Still wish we knew what happened with O'Connor and Bailey, I really wanted the two of them...Bailey could be a Chris Kreider or a Kevin Hayes.
  11. Watch one on TV, the other on a tablet or computer...maybe that is why they are streaming it? (Still a stupid idea.) There will be plenty more NHL games to watch though...we won't have much more of Eichel until October. What do we think of RFA Brock Nelson though? I am really intrigued by that idea, since I saw that article and realized he's an RFA. 23 years old, 42 points last year, 6-3 and 215 pounds...he and Eichel on a line with Kane would be scary.
  12. If Vancouver did not sign him, he would have gone back into the 2015 NHL draft in June...but like bunomatic said, they signed him yesterday evening. I saw that right after I closed down this page...I think the report came out around 4:10, about a half an hour after I posted that. Lol. EDIT: Indeed it was 4:10 pm! Lmfao. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/14/canucks-sign-jordan-subban/ And although that says "Vancouver maintained they would sign him," there was A LOT of talk of them letting him go or trying to trade him. (I have no idea how or why, but apparently he and Pegula's daughter are really good friends.)
  13. I understand better now, thank you. (No way a trade is made without contract talks between ROR's camp and Buffalo...everything hinges on that new deal, without a doubt.)
  14. So, I was just reading how Eichel has had "instant chemistry" with his linemates, Trevor Lewis and Brock Nelson... Does anybody think that Brock Nelson could be a trade target for Tim Murray? He is 23 years old, and had 42 points in 82 games this year. He was drafted 30th overall...would the Islanders trade him for their 2015 1st or 2nd back? Or, maybe we can just sign him to an offer sheet, as he's an RFA this summer. Would this not be a pretty smart idea for Murray to provide Eichel with a familiar (young) face, that he can grow and develop (and dominate) with? Contract source: http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/new-york-islanders/brock-nelson/ Source for quote: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/3360/brock-nelson Streaming on NBC Live Extra...which is pretty stupid, if you ask me. What else is on a Saturday at 1:15PM in the middle of May? Soccer? Didn't GMTM say he tried for a different goalie? Winnipeg has Eric Comrie and he is their goalie of the future. (Pretty sure people thought that is who Murray was referring to.) Wouldn't surprise me if that is who he was after, but ended up having to settle for Kasdorf...and he makes another move for Hellebuyck.
  15. Yes, limiting the size of goalie's...now, that's a genius idea! "Hey, you've been playing goalie all your life, but you are over 6 feet tall...go find a new career." It's the most realistic idea that has been proposed...you wanted more scoring right? Tell players they can't block shots? Don't allow players to backcheck? Eliminate offsides? Lol, incredible.
  16. I'M JUST SOOOOO DAMN PUMPED UP! Lmao. That works...might look more at a 5 year deal, but 6 years is fine too...he will only be what, 31? Sounds good to me, I don't see him falling like Hodgson.
  17. I believe he is making $6M/year right now, it might cost upwards of $7M...but I honestly think he's worth it, he just keeps getting better. A power play of Kane - Eichel - O'Reilly? Gives me chills just thinking about it...big bodies, tons of skill...so exciting to me. But, what is July 4th and how does it relate to trying to trade for O'Reilly? I'm a little confused about that part. ***************************************************************************************************************************** I have never, in my life, been this excited about the Sabres (or the Bills)... Only difference is, the Bills are built and I just want to see them win...the Sabres though, they are about to build the team and I'm ecstatic. (First time in my life that I have been more excited about the NHL draft, than the NFL draft...and it wasn't the lack of a 1st for the Bills either.)
  18. Crosby, Malkin - Reinhart, Eichel...that's where I was going...building with high draft picks. I saw where we needed $13 million? Sekera (top d-man available deal), O'Reilly (new deal), Toffoli (offer sheet), Niemi...that is far more than $13M. Sekera and O'Reilly alone could add up to $13M, if you think about it.
  19. Sorry, didn't mean to make this thread about the 2015-16 lineup. Lol.
  20. And the more I think about this...I could come up with probably a dozen lineups I would like to see and be cool with. Lol. The more I sit there and tinker with the roster/lineups, I realize exactly how many options GMTM REALLY has. It's amazing, to be honest. (And quite frankly, it pisses me off when people don't think Buffalo has anything...or that these prospects WON'T be good. A kid I coached works for the Lightning, I tell him all the time, "better get that cup now...the Sabres are coming." He tells me every time how these kids won't all develop, no matter how many good ones you think you have. He doesn't realize Buffalo is being built similarly to Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc.) Grigorenko is not knocking anyone out of the top-3, because in my scenario, he is playing in Colorado...and Ryan O'Reilly is a Sabre.)
  21. I really don't know, I am not sure what LA would match...but I would take him for at least 4-5 years at $3-$4 million. He deserves to be paid better than Hodgson, I do know/think that. However, I think the bigger obstacle would be O'Reilly...we would need a new contract for him prior to making this trade. (I'm not giving that up for one year.) Grigorenko is not playing on the 4th line, and would be involved in any trade for O'Reilly, in my opinion. Talbot? Meh. He has had one stint of good games, will be 28 years old already...and probably cost more than he is worth. EDIT: And I want my defense setup with 3 rights and 3 lefts. (Although I guess the 3rd pairing doesn't really matter.) Who is your Anderson? Frederick or Craig? I don't think either of them come available, to be honest. Just remembered that as I closed the page. Lol. (I love those 7 kids I named...I think they will all be very good.)
  22. I just remembered ALL non-playoff teams get a chance at the lottery next year...so I suppose if Buffalo misses the playoff, they have a shot at those kids.
  23. I understand. I'm not saying they are a playoff team, but I don't think they will be picking in the top-7. It's also (obviously) probably not going to be those 7 players at the top-7 spots...it could, but that's unlikely. (I'd gladly take any of the 7.) As for a playoff team lineup? I think this team could challenge for a wild card spot...but understand it's unlikely the roster looks like this. Kane - Eichel - Ennis O'Reilly - Reinhart - Toffoli Moulson - Girgensons - Gionta Deslauriers - Larsson - Foligno Sekera - Bogosian Zadorov - Ristolainen Gorges - Pysyk/McCabe Niemi - Lehner Maybe not a playoff team this year...but there is zero doubt in my mind that's a playoff team in 2016-17. - I trade Grigorenko, Hodgson (retain salary), Pysyk or McCabe, 2015 1st round pick (#21), 2015 2nd round pick (Islanders)...for O'Reilly. - I sign Toffoli to an offer sheet LA cannot match, and send them a 2016 1st round pick and a 2016 3rd round pick. - I trade a low-end prospect or mid-round draft pick for Lehner. - I sign Sekera and Niemi as unrestricted free agents. I do not care about draft picks after this year, for the next year or two...until they are needed again to stock the cupboards as the kids move up. PS. If Colorado insists on Zadorov, I hate it...but I think I still make that trade (minus the 2nd rounder), and I roll with... Sekera - Bogosian McCabe - Ristolainen Gorges - Pysyk (EDIT: Don't want to pay the draft picks for Toffoli? Pry Oshie away from the Blues or Sharp away from the Hawks, for cheaper.) *And...3, 2, 1...rip me apart! Lol.*
  24. Why, exactly, would the 2014 2nd overall pick get $925,000...and the 2015 2nd overall pick get $3.75 million? That makes absolutely no sense. As for Chris Stewart? I sure hope there is a better plan than that. He hasn't been good the last 5 years, why would he be good the next 5 years? Ryan O'Reilly and Tyler Toffoli are my top targets. That is who I want the most. RFA's and trades are the best chance at improving this team this summer. Kane - Eichel - Toffoli/Ennis O'Reilly - Reinhart - Ennis/Toffoli That's an awesome top-6 IMO...but I don't know where to put Moulson? Maybe Moulson - Girgensons - Gionta for the 3rd line? (Just rather have Foligno at LW3.)
  25. My "other" idea would be to have a two point shot...beyond the circles. A team down by a goal could win the game with one shot, a team down by two could tie it with one shot. (But, the goal has to be clean...it cannot be tipped from the front of the crease, it has to beat the goalie clean from beyond the circles.)
