I voted for #3, because it's true...but I am also alright with #2, as long as he stays there as the Captain. (I'd like to see McCabe as an assistant this year, then maybe captain next year if he's still there. Compher too next year.)

http://www.tsn.ca/draft-mystery-and-intrigue-starts-after-eichel-1.300623 "It would not be an overstatement to suggest that many of the prospects ranked from 31 to 45 are, more or less, interchangeable with those ranked 21 through 30. In fact, every prospect in the top 45 of TSN's list, and a few beyond that, got at least one vote as a top 30 prospect." Talk about a deep draft. If we use 21 and 31, we will be getting top-20 players in any other draft...if we trade them, the value should be higher than normal.

Ok, so you take him in the 5th round, not 15th overall. (Like NFL'ers Wilson and Winston were drafted into the MLB.) But, you're saying if they knew he was going to the QMJHL, he would've gone 1st overall? http://thechronicleherald.ca/mooseheads/1133541-eichel-passes-on-moose “We felt there were some good indications he would be coming last year but when he didn’t report, we still felt like there was a decent chance for next year,” Russell said. “He went to the national development program but we kept having good discussions with him and his family. “He’s decided to go back to the national development program next year and is still very high on BU. We just felt the chances of getting him here were getting slimmer so we opted to take the second-round pick instead.” It makes even less sense to draft him, if they knew a month before the draft he wouldn't be coming. I guess I also do not understand St. John's picking up his rights, if they knew he would be going to BU and would not play in the CHL. (Joseph Velano just went 1st overall in the "Q"...it will be interesting to see his career path.)

I don't know if this has been talked about, but I just realized this and found it very interesting... Jack Eichel was drafted 15th overall in the QMJHL by the Halifax Mooseheads...these are the players drafted ahead of him. Round 1 #1 Sherbrooke Phoenix Daniel Audette © #2 Prince Edward Island Rocket Alexis Pépin (LW) #3 Cape Breton Screaming Eagles Clark Bishop © #4 Gatineau Olympiques Alexandre Carrier (D) #5 Baie-Comeau Drakkar Loik Léveillé (D) #6 Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Francis Perron (C/LW) #7 Val-d'Or Foreurs Nicolas Aubé-Kubel (C/RW) #8 Saint John Sea Dogs Matthew Highmore © #9 Val-d'Or Foreurs Carl Neill (D) #10 Baie-Comeau Drakkar Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau (LW) #11 Saint John Sea Dogs Olivier LeBlanc (D) #12 Rimouski Océanic Nicolas Hébert © #13 Baie-Comeau Drakkar Alexis Vanier (D) #14 Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Cody Donaghey (D) #15 Halifax Mooseheads Jack Eichel © What does this say about the talent evaluators in the QMJHL...does it say anything, or am I just reading too much into it? I pay pretty close attention to this stuff, and know a lot of teams prospects...but I don't know more than half of these names. Edited to add - Daniel Audette was a 5th round pick, Jack Eichel will be #2 overall, and would usually be #1 overall.

You guys don't follow the Amerks or the prospects much, do you? He was Rochester's best and most consistent player, on both ends of the ice. He's a 4th line NHL center within 2 years, IMO. http://www.amerks.com/statistics.asp

Trade Ideas: Grigorenko, Zadorov, Hodgson (salary retained), pick #21...for Ryan O'Reilly. 2016 first round pick, 2017 2nd round pick, 2016 third round pick...for Tyler Toffoli. It might seem a lot for Toffoli, but that is what it will cost the Sabres for an offer sheet anyways. This way they can negotiate a better deal with him, instead of having to overpay just to get him AND give up the draft picks. So, instead of signing him to a $6M/year deal to get him away from LA, they could maybe give him something closer to what he's worth, say $4.5M/year. Kane - Eichel - Ennis Moulson - Reinhart - Toffoli Foligno - O'Reilly - Girgensons Deslauriers - Larsson - Kaleta? Sekera? - Bogosian Gorges - Ristolainen McCabe - Pysyk Sign me up for the playoffs with that team...as long as they have a decent goalie. (The more I look at it, we don't need both, do we? I think I would rather have O'Reilly over Toffoli, but it's a tough call. I really like both of them, and they both seem to fit what Murray is trying build this team with...just hate to lose Zadorov.)

This made me laugh, I just said this to Red Wings fans about Dylan Larkin...they are acting like he'll be better than McDavid and Eichel combined! Lol.
-
Robin Lehner - cheap, young, and Murray was pretty much the one who got the kid to come over from Sweden.
-
Evander Kane - How good do you expect him to be?
Bob Malooga replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I fully expect this kid to pot 40-50 goals at least twice. He is hungry. He is a very good, strong hockey player. He is my new favorite hockey player, and I haven't seen him put on a Sabres jersey. He's badass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4DD20hF530 -
Trying to get Mackenzie Blackwood to fall to #31. :flirt:

Top-5? Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, Kane, Stamkos...I'd take all them over Malkin in a heartbeat. (Top 7-10 is more like it.) But, I rather use assets like that, which are some of our best, for somebody younger.
-
I've been banging this drum for a while now...I just know this is going to happen. With who is the question? But, I still think it's Toffoli. My reasoning? He has already gotten 2 players from LA, and I think he trusts their talent evaluators and the way they develop kids. This is exactly what I have told people too...Tim Murray has zero f*cks to give, to anybody. He has a team to build, and will do whatever is necessary to build that team to his vision...don't like it? Tough . Just turned 24...won't be 25 until February or March.

This makes me even more excited. Not sure how much a difference 2 inches can make, but 6'3" looks better than 6'1"! Lol. EDIT: Got him confused with Reinhart, who is 6-1...but still, 6-3 > 6-2, and he might still grown another inch.

He was one of the hottest players in the NHL down the stretch. The two best players on the Avs during the stretch run were Landeskog and Mackinnon...O'Reilly was the catalyst of that. As of April 9th, he had 15 points in his last 12 games...while they were chasing a wild card position. In March, he scored a goal in 12 of 13 games. In a defensive role, he put up 55 points and is only 24 years old, just entering his prime. The only other player I would take as a "consolation" would be Tyler Toffoli. They both play the big and heavy game the Sabres seem to want to build towards. How anyone can write off O'Reilly and say he's not worth it for the Buffalo Sabres, is mind-blowing. (Saad plays on the best team in the NHL, on a line with 2 of the best players in the world.)

Dan Bylsma new Sabres head coach (now official!)
Bob Malooga replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
This is weird...yes, it's the wrong team and character, but just the coincidence in timing and the connection...strange. https://twitter.com/mrbelding/status/604728869476794368 -

It was, actually. Lol. But, I think this team could make the playoffs... Kane - Eichel - Ennis Moulson - Reinhart - Toffoli Foligno - Girgensons - Gionta Deslauriers - Larsson - Kaleta Gorges - Bogosian Zadorov - Ristolainen McCabe - Pysyk (And that is without any other additions, just the offer sheet for Toffoli.) I would understand that more with a 1st or 2nd round pick, but it's a 3rd...still think it has to do with RFA's, no matter what he says. And I still think Toffoli will be his target. (Hockey Hotline mentioned Tarasenko...not happening.) EDIT: And I do not think that. He wants to win and he is building towards that now. He has previously said that he doesn't plan to use all his draft picks on prospects...and I take that as this year and next year. -

Bob Malooga replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
Very happy to know that...I wasn't sure if anyone would pick up on that. For someone like Tyler Toffoli, yes...for someone like Martin Jones it could be just a 3rd round pick. I think the "idea" shared on WGR by Yost(I think?) was Toffoli for a 1st and 2nd and Jones for a 3rd, I believe. (EDIT: Maybe it was Toffoli for a 1st and 3rd, and Jones for a 2nd.) -

The fact Murray wouldn't give up the Sabres' 3rd, tells me he has RFA offer sheet plans. Zero doubt about it. (But a 3rd round tender seems very, very easy for a team to match.) -

I'm more excited than Jessie Spano on pills! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1gxDJFnEgc -
I think they either make the playoffs, or they're a lottery team. ;)

This is exactly what I think is going on...that's the difference between getting Martin Jones from LA, or not getting Martin Jones. (For example) Yes, but it has to be your own draft pick...and you can only use your own draft picks on RFA offer sheets, I believe. -
Oh yeah, he has also already had a pretty big performance, on a relatively big stage...in Buffalo's arena. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHw6-YnHLxk AND he seems to have a clear distaste for Canada...SIGN ME UP! Lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1kmZWCo5CI OH MY GOD...DEFINITELY SIGN ME UP NOW!!! LMFAO!!! DOWN GOES HELENIUS!!!!!!!! BAHAHAHA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHH3z2IRf2M

I said previously when I drew up my team for next year, I would want Lehner...put a 3rd and a 5th on it, I think. I read an article about Murray drafting him and (slightly) comparing him to Lundqvist, "but wouldn't go that far." He obviously likes/liked the kid, a lot, at one point...just look at the quotes I DID find: http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/hockey/nhl/senatorsextra/the-world-doesnt-know-the-real-robin-lehner-yet http://www.ottawasun.com/2011/05/25/calder-cup-run-makes-young-sens-believers (This story is really interesting, about the young Senators and Murray running the show.) Here is an interesting story about Lehner's father, who just happened to be Lundqvist's mentor. http://www.torontosun.com/sports/hockey/2010/09/24/15471821.html http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/11141/2009_prospects_robin_lehner/ Here's a quote/scouting report comparing him to Lundqvist...but I can't find Murray's quote. (I'll keep digging...it's why I said I wanted him.)http://thehockeywriters.com/54-robin-lehner-%E2%80%93-the-hockey-spy%E2%80%99s-2009-nhl-entry-draft-rankings/

I will have to see a therapist if this happens, again...Casey Bailey, Mike Babcock, Ryan O'Reilly...I'll lose it. For 2 years there was nobody I wanted more than Evander Kane and Ryan O'Reilly, they are what Murray wants to build. Put them with Eichel...geeeezus, talk about "heavy." I'll drive to Toronto and take a dump on Mike Babcock's F-150's hood, if they end up snagging O'Reilly, and Buffalo has a chance. EDIT: Forgot to add the quote, lol... He'd be at around 6.25 a year in cap hit, and is 27 at this time.[/size] I would much rather try and trade for O'Reilly or Toffoli, even Oshie...I don't want Kessel around these kids. (And I'm ALL about getting American players in here, just NOT Phil Kessel.)

It just fits...and he's American...count me in! Also, there was an article by Jeremy White at WGR, it was titled "The Sabres Model." (It's been taken down.) http://www.wgr550.com/JW--The-Sabres-Model/19008663 It showed exactly how much talent Buffalo has compared to what Bylsma had to work with in Pittsburgh. The had like 9 first and second round picks in a 7 year span, and the Sabres have had 17 first and second round picks in a 3-4 year span. (Sorry about yesterday, I was extremely pissed, for many reasons...but I'm over it. Just hate seeing people bash and insult us.)
