  1. Deslauriers has been the most consistent surprise, but he's been on an upward trend since last season. He has shown poise to stick to his game and keep things simple when most over extend. It's baffling to me that near on a year and a half ago he was stuck in Manchester as a D. I've been as big a fan of his as anyone in the last season plus. I would call Foligno a close second. McCabe always had the talent to be what he's showing, but never given the break. Good on him.
  2. So it looks like Eric Gelinas is being shopped by NJD. Not sure what we match with them on, but he's a pretty talented 24 year old with a LH shot. He showed a lot two seasons and not so much the last season and a half. He might be interesting to keep an eye on.
  3. First off sorry about Josie, that's a tough beat. The Sabres had me jumping at certain points. The 6 on 5 at the end had me standing up screaming at the TV. Risto finishing it off was pretty much how I've felt all season. Hands up and stoked. O'Reilly needs to get back to playing with Ennis or someone who can match his skill. I'm sorry Gionta, but you're a third line or lower player now IMO. As the season has gone on from puck drop to whistle Eichel has only gotten better. I won't compare him to #66 so early on but he looks a lot like Vinny meets Yzerman early in his career. I tried to think about it a bit more, because his speed is so thundering, but this was a close combo of size, skill, humility and skating. As usual I am late to the party.
  4. There are several teams who need top end defensemen who will bite easily at the deadline if not in free agency. He's a very unique player. His aggression and scoring touch is high end. He's the closest thing to Pronger that is in the league.
  5. Fowler is an interesting player. He has great games and games where he just looks lost in translation. He's only 23, and would definitely be a boon for the team to acquire. He's locked in at a manageable cap hit as well. I would make the call. It probably costs a 1st round pick or something very high end to get him away from the West coast.
  6. Reinhart has played light years better than the trial nine game period last year. That has a lot to do with a stability of upper level centermen and Bylsma's more direct skill/pressing game. He looks like he belongs in the top forward group for sure. Whether this means he's a RW long term or for the time being is what should be deciding.
  7. A very good tight game against another quality opponent. Ristolainen is our #1 defensemen. We just need someone to be his ace in the hole.
  8. YIEICHEL! Nice, helping me out one assist at a time! Eat your heart out McDavid fans :P
  9. RISTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. He exceeds expectations when he's sitting on the bench.
  11. Good we can stop talking about Patty Scum. Moving on, hockey time!
  12. Should be a good game, too bad I'm working. First game I've missed this season.
  13. He literally is the modern day living example of the Hulk. He always seems like he's about the explode on an opponent. He's great for the sport! It's not terrible like the Colorado outdoor game. Boston's to me still seem the best, which is probably the one nice thing I can give them.
  14. Rasmus and it isn't even close. I love Nichushkin, but he's still in the midst of finding his consistent scoring touch. I'd take him from Dallas in a heart beat though :D! Every time I think of an interesting somewhat young defensemen they're always RHD. Which is a little frustrating. I'd take a look at Matheson out of BC in Florida, or Mueller in SJ, but neither are likely available unless that team is overpaying.
  15. Pretty self evident. Bogo where are you! I didn't get to watch the game, so I cannot comment on his shifts. But, I can imagine they were brutal. They had less give ways, more hits, more shots on net, but still lost because they got behind early. Did he look better in the FO circle? Did he look more poised away from the puck?
  16. The shadow of last year has set on the sunrise of a new tomorrow. Or enter any sort of visual statement. Last year was about embracing the penultimate bottom falling out. Uncorking and letting Pandora's box annihilate everything in the past three seasons specifically. The box is closed and there are new figureheads in the front office, coaching staff, in the line up and generally a new message. "Faster pace, focusing on small things to open up huge possibilities." There are no more expectations about building a foundation, it is in place. Now it is about enriching the roster, and future. Losing will come as they continue to add and subtract to improve, but that's the same for every team. GO SABRES!
  17. He has 5 assists. Doesn't Crosby have 5 points in 12 games? I don't see where this is relevant. There are forwards on every team that are under-performing. Take half of Columbus and put them on notice :D * He was quite solid last season.
  18. http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2015/11/02/pht-morning-skate-letang-takes-shot-at-maple-leafs-for-not-paying-tribute-to-phil-kessel-on-saturday-night/ This gave me a good chuckle, to paraphrase Letang got upset and took a shot that Toronto didn't roll out the red carpets for Phil "the Schill" Kessel. I mean look the guy can score goals, but he doesn't show up to camp in shape and while he seems like a good guy, gets lost at times. Your teammates can only do so much on work ethic. :D
  19. Disco Dan is excited about his team!
  20. Marc Staal, is in the league and Jared Staal has no chance of ever sniffing a game IMO.
  21. It doesn't surprise me that he's very well liked in the locker room. He has a sound work ethic and he always finishes his plays. I miss McNabb, but with how Fasching is being developed at Minnesota and Deslauriers has come up and impressed, this trade was nothing short of a win! He has strong skill to be a solid third liner. Anything else he's a fill in type player. Early on his career if I'm not mistaken wasn't Nick Foligno more of a third liner and he developed at that rate. Not saying it's going to happen, but weirder things have happened.
  22. It was a bit of a snorer, especially after the whirling dervish type goal that snapped in from de Haan in the second. The team just kept chipping away. Great win for the team! That's good! It's such a sigh of relief outside of that hiccup last season in December this team is night and day from last season. The dregs of despair to just peering out into the light at the end of the tunnel. The Shire versus the Gates of Mordor. Leenus I'm not Linus Ullmark is nothing but a breathe of fresh air. Watch out Lehner someone's coming to getcha :P
  23. Awesome that he's exuding that sort of confidence. The team was badly out played in the second before rebounding in the third. Reinhart getting the pass from Legwand of all players to bury home a win will do nothing but wonders for his confidence. It was a tight win, but we didn't have more than 3 wins when trailing last season in 42 match ups. Ristolainen is clearly the "Doughty" of our D-Core.
  24. The sight lines for hockey are less than appealing, it is not meant to house a hockey crowd. It was built for the Nets, tbh and nothing else. It is really a disappointing situation. My girlfriend lives in Nassau County on LI, and I loved the Colosseum.
  25. Schaller is a guy you use in emergency situations sparingly. He's a McCormick type of kid. I don't really think there's much more outside of that. McCabe has improved each and every game since his insertion into the top six under Bylsma. He's entering the rush and making clean passes. He's always had the physical upside that you need to make Mike Weber irrelevant, which is what you ultimately want. All their missing on the back 6 is a bona fide number one defensemen. Ryan Ellis would be a perfect fit from Nashville who has long term contracts on everyone but Seth Jones at this point. He's undersized, but his puck movement and speed are off the charts.
