In addition, in year 29-30, it will cause a cap hit of $2.4M. That’s an extra $2.4M hit in 5 years. I don’t see either of these causing much of a cap problem considering the cap will be increasing each year.

Yeah, Appert’s there to give the coddling as the youngsters grow accustomed to a real NHL coach’s expectations and demands. Don’t know why Ellis is still around. Wilford had the boys playing some good defense down the stretch, but I’m sure Ruff will be hovering and work with him. Bales is a given.

Thank you for posting this. It was new to me. Must’ve missed it with all the traveling I have been doing. I think this is the closest reason we’re going to get on why the assistant coaches were retained. Ruff preaches that you need to know the player nowadays, know what makes the tick, and know what turns them off. They his is what he said on the question of how he evolved over the years. The current assistants get him this info immediately. He couldn’t come in here barking with new people. He knew that would fail.

Had I received a bunch of noise, I would’ve been no less impressed.

I’d give McGoaty a handful of games in the NHL, but if he’s not blowing it up, then he’d have to agree to go down to Rochester. Likewise, if Savoie has a great camp, he should also be promised some games, but with no guarantees beyond that. I don’t see any risk with that, but only that it could piss off some prospects already in the system. So, one would have to be on the way out. On the flip side, I’m not sure if we really need another near-NHL ready prospect. We may need one in 2-3 years though, so 11OA may be the safer bet.

Yeah, wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card at the start of last season. I would rather give him an extra million per year if he accepts 4 years ($6M x 4).
