  1. Rossi got demoted to the 4th line, rightfully or wrongly, but this is what the Wild wanted to send us for a 1st line winger? lol.
  2. Agreed. People are acting like we had a playoff team these past few years and we just killed our chances by trading our 2nd highest scorer.
  3. Trading 2 NHL players, one proven top 6 forward and another proven top 4 defender for a player who’s never played an NHL game and not at the prospect level of a McDavid or Crosby? That’s steep. Is he that good?
  4. I just want a mean-spirited bastard who will not be a defensive liability and who can score a little when needed. Think a McLeod type player who is a complete dick.
  5. I guess “we’re gonna build through the draft” isn’t quite working.
  6. To show us they were busy working when nothing was done?
  7. He definitely asked for a trade or some ultimatum. Kevyn could easily say “No”, but he can’t say “Yes”. He’d automatically lose leverage. My guess is other GMs already know this. Hence, them being “difficult” to deal with.
  8. I think Rossi wasn’t treated fairly this past season. He’s an actual 2-way forward who put up 60 points. Sort of the same production we traded for Byram, but at least this may seem sustainable. He entered the doghouse in the playoffs because they placed him on the 4th line and as a result, played like a 4th line player. The guy is 23. I think he has a great chance of becoming more consistent. I view him as as a McLeod with a higher ceiling. I’m with you though, I wouldn’t send them Peterka for him unless more is coming back. I think Foligno’s best days are behind him, but still would be a positive addition, even if we’re paying him $4M for the next 4 years.
  9. I know Byram for Rossi could be viewed as sort of spinning the wheels, but Rossi on our team would be more valuable than Byram. I could think of worse trades (you listed them above).
  10. I don’t know much about Dobson. Young-ish, looks durable, and had a 70-point season 2 seasons ago, then went back to his average of 40-50. Which Dobson are we looking to add and is he worth 10+M per season?
  11. I think perspective matters. For the league, having a team win on the ice doesn’t matter. It’s a zero-sum game and someone is always going to win. “Winning” to the league means are revenues rising. For owners, winning probably means something. Mostly as a status symbol. They usually make money anyways (see TOR). For players, until they get older, yes, winning is almost everything. If we had a winning team, they would flock here, palm trees or not. For fans, I think entertainment is higher on the list, but winning gives you that warm feeling, even though you had nothing to do with it. For Pegula, no, winning doesn’t matter.
  12. What about the Houston We Have a Problems.
  13. This is a good read. Of course the Florida front-office would downplay this, as if it didn’t play into their own decision making. Brad Marchand’s quote is particularly damning. Yet, I can see why the NHL doesn’t want to touch this. Probably wouldn’t be able to get a honest opinion from the agents as a tax-adjusted salary cap would mean less money for them.
  14. This sounds exactly like the player we needed Bryan to be, except for a LHD. Why not 1:1 straight up? Not saying I wouldn’t accept a draft pick in addition.
  15. I had thought his firing was precipitated by calling Kim a derogatory word. Hence, all the “character” talk.
  16. I get it. I wouldn’t want to be criticized on National TV. But these players are making millions and there needs to be accountability. It’s not the coach out on the ice letting teams score on him. Yet, such public criticism wouldn’t be tolerated in the corporate world. But, again, these players are the public face of the team and they are compensated extremely well. Grow a pair.
  17. Bonus points for using dispatching, breached, and eschewing all in one post.
  18. I was in med school, residency, and fellowship from 2001 to 2012. Like you, I remember very little. Like those years somehow vanished. I do remember a bunch of people above me acting like total ***** though.
  19. Nothing burger. What’s it to likely have? A better fax machine? Really, it may have a couple extra phone lines. This isn’t the 90s. People have multiple cell phones now. Maybe a better espresso machine.
  20. I don’t want Kevyn to even think about trading him until his babysitter arrives. Then he can be chaperoned.
  21. Interesting quote in there. He has won just 2 playoff series in 11 years. Now, that is 2 more than anyone on the Sabres has won, but not sure if that’s the type of team we want him to build here.
  22. Gee, I wonder. Should I go to NYC and actually make decisions or should I go to Buffalo to help potty training their GM?
  23. I’ve read the article. Even posted it on here about a month ago. Here’s the most recent Achilles tears: Duclair, Quinn, Pacioretty. Not an inspiring list. There’s also Kempny, Isac Lundestrom, Knyznov over the past 10 years. Not a common injury. Lastly there’s our own Beck Malestyn, which would argue such an injury doesn’t always have to negatively affect speed.
  24. I’d stay aware from Bear as well. Players with Achilles injuries don’t have a good record of fully recovering. Is he going to be the same player as before? And this opinion may be colored by what we say ourselves last season, but for a team who hasn’t played a playoff game in 14 years, why pick a question mark? We don’t have the luxury of lottery tickets, especially for a player like Bear. If we want a player of his intensity, trade for one.
  25. It just seems whenever someone is doing a suboptimal job, they get demoted upwards. Appert fell upwards. Looks like he is going to do so again. Forton, same thing. There was talk of Adams falling upwards, but that’s probably for next year.
