Shittiest news I’ve heard all week. Luckily I’ve heard we have some depth at Forward.
-
There’s skill against peers, which Rosen no doubt has. But this doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be able to deploy this skill at the highest level of hockey. In order to do this, he’ll need a better understanding of this higher-level game and a more mature body. He’ll get there soon, but needs to dominate the AHL first, which he’s still trying to do.

Ooooh, announcer called him Connor Benson at 0:50! Freudian slip.
-
He gave the word and then basically gave its definition in the same sentence.
-
But, knowing that the Sabres haven’t been to the playoffs in years, despite not wanting to be disputatious, he was clearly being disputatious.

BPA. None of these players, including any of the Ds, were gonna help us this season. Not worried.
-
I wonder what the cost will be here. I have no clue. Would next year’s 1st also be in play?

Report: Teams are "poking around the Sabres" about Victor Olofsson
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
If not in a package for a D, would love to grab an extra 2nd rounder, preferably an early one, for Olofsson. There’s decent depth in this draft. -
Duclair is a pretty good player…when not injured. He did fairly well after coming back from the Achilles injury.

A Top 4 Defenseman is Adams Top Priority per Lebrun

Lol. I think you’re confusing our QB with our WR. All the stuff you mentioned would’ve happened Diggs or no Diggs. Is it a coincidence our WRs seem to have career years once playing for Buffalo? -

God, I hope not. No Super Bowl, a bunch of drama, and the 1st rounder we sent to the Vikings was used on a younger, better WR than Diggs. Great stats, but that’s been about it. -
Kevyn Adams and Jerry Forton Pre-Draft Presser, 6/21/2023

I actually think our defense was a bright spot last season. Compare Krueger Dahlin to Donnie Dahlin. Knowing that young defensemen can be lead astray, Muel has been progressing well and Power was a Calder finalist. The issue with our D was a lack of talent/depth outside these 3. That’s on KA. -
Especially for a perpetually disgruntled player. It’s nuts.

Agreed. As many have pointed out before, there’s always room for a great player of your team. Teams don’t let great players walk. Worse case scenario, you move an equally-skilled, but higher-priced vet. -

I agree with everything else you said, but why do you think this? Fire sales don’t happen with pipeline players, but rather happen with roster players, usually under duress of the salary cap. Obviously, if we have no spots for a player, I don’t see why would would move them for peanuts. If we develop them properly, this increases their value and potentially could flip them for some really good players. -
Probably for the same reason they let the Lightning dump Tyler Johnson on them a couple years back in exchange for Seabrook, who TBL immediately LTIR’d. Looks like they just like to help out teams in cap trouble for shits and giggles.
-
And good thing we are drafting pretty much in the middle of the first. Sign me up for this guy. Just hope they don’t overcompensate on “checking their bias” against positions.
-
I don’t think anyone is suggesting we give up a JJP level player for Pesce. Maybe 5 years ago, but not now. People on here even generally agreed against trading such a player for Chychrun as well. I think what people have in mind is a Jiricek or Miller type of player.
-
I happen to agree with you. It’s not the only way to get a top 4 D. We can sign one of those. However, if we want a young, elite shutdown D, which rarely hit the market, we’d likely have to give up quality. This certainly shouldn’t be for any D, but one that pains the other team to let go. And Oloffson is not gonna do it. But, yeah, we certainly can go the poor man’s top 4 defenseman though.

They can’t scatter the ashes though, they all have NMCs. Seriously though, they’ll be playoff contenders for a bit, but they’re an aging team with serious cap issues. If all these players didn’t have NMCs, I could see them retooling and turning it around quickly, but they can’t. -

Just like always, some chumpy teams will come to their rescue and take on their garbage for pennys on the dollar. That said, I think Tampa’s reign of terror is over and due to the NMCs, will be for awhile. -
I think the only Russians worth taking at this point are the ones already out of the country and who say they aren’t going back. Complete ***** show going on there.
-
I agree there won’t be a full scale collapse of the Russian government, but the effects of this situation are going to reverberate. There’s 10x more questions now. Will Russia declare martial law? Will they block all those leaving the country? If Wagner becomes defunct, who will take their place? Will Russia turn to widespread conscription to fight Putin’s war? If all this happens, is a KHL season in jeopardy? Will all this nonsense make prospects more likely to jump ship now?

The Jacksonville Icemen are the Sabres New ECHL Affiliate?
kas23 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is fine. It’s not like a drive from Cinci to Rochester was a simple way to shuttle players. It’s a plane ride either way. -
I agree with you. Mitts played most of the year with a guy who would end up being benched and a waiver wire pick up. Tage would’ve had issues with them as well. We’ve seen what Mitts can do with better line mates. I’m not sure JJP and Quinn will be glued to Cozens again and maybe one of them will be paired with Mitts and Greenway. I’m also not convinced placing AHL call-ups (Rousek or Kulich) with Mitts will prove to be better than what he had last year. They need more time, but maybe Rousek is ready (albeit having a lower ceiling than Kulich).
