Thank God it’s going to change. We saw it with Robinson and Byram. They came in charging the net and standing in front of the net. Once they learned the “system”, this seemed to go away. The best part is that Benson didn’t seem to buy in. Thankfully he never changed.

People want to point their fingers at Big Pharma and how can they profit off of people’s misery and they are the cause of our ballooning health care costs, but they are nothing compared to what is going on with large hospital networks. Pharma makes it no secret they want to profit and have no direct say in people’s medical care. But, now we have hospitals whose very existence is to make a profit. They may call themselves a non-profit, but the people running them are laser focused on making money. Private practices are becoming a relic with most of them are being bought up by very large hospital networks. This poses 2 issues. The physicians are no longer their own boss and medical decisions are now made to maximize profit. Physicians themselves will never go along with this model, so as a result, are being forced to double/triple book patients or being laid off. And it’s definitely not due to a lack of demand. Now with private equity becoming more involved with healthcare, this is only going to worsen.

Who will be the next Head Coach of the Buffalo Sabres?
kas23 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I got this as well, that non-hockey reasons were driving him not being fired in-season. And I’m actually OK with this. If he was fired Jan 1st, I’m not sure results would’ve been different. The damage had been mostly done. Plus, in all likelihood, Appert would’ve been named Interim. And if we went on a winning streak, then what? Most of the Interim coaches in recent Sabres memory shows they did well-enough to be handed the job. Would we have been satisfied knowing it would be Appert going forward? I’m glad we’ll be starting with a clean slate. -
Well, we kind of already did this year. Mitts time on ice was 18:16 and Cozens was 17:11. Not counting Tage, if a C is playing better than Cozens next year, he’ll get more playing time.

Why should Granato and the assistants be brought back?
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
And let’s hope he’s not brought up again. The only way I would consider Appert is if, once Adams signs some winning vets, we give Donnie a 10-15 game trial at the beginning of next season and he fails. Then fire Meatballs and give the interim tag to Appert. -
Agreed. But that C needs to start playing like a 2C. What we need is a vet 3C who can move to 2C if needed. But, I won’t hold my breath.
-
Funny thing is we’ll have to pay that 2C what we could’ve paid Mitts.

OMG. This is like Groundhog Day. I swear these exact sentiments were said same time last year. It has to become true at some point though, right?

Biggest Sabres issue - losing the 1st period badly too often
kas23 replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Not only do they fail to get on the board in the 1st period, they also suck in the beginning of the year. To me, I think the reasons for this are the same. They are either unprepared or unwilling to play hard out of the gate. They prefer to respond when it’s do or die. I don’t know if this is due to coaching or the players, but it’s ultimately the coaches job to fix this. -
The one-handed comment is probably the key here. If you are going to play with one hand, it’s going to be the dominant hand and it’s going to be at the top of the stick for reach. So, dominant hand is at the top.

Why should Granato and the assistants be brought back?
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
If fired, there’s no way a Donnie stays within the organization as a developmental coach or an assistant coach. That’s quite a slap in the face and none of us would accept a demotion like that. For his own self-respect, he’ll move on to a different situation. -
Players that should NOT be on this team next year
kas23 replied to WhenWillItEnd66's topic in The Aud Club
This is great and all, but “choices” depends on availability. KA can dream all he wants, but he can only choose from who is available. For example, there’s no way Byram was available at the time the Chychrun trade went down. Byram’s value was too high at that point. Besides, there’s that little pesky detail that KA said on WGR that he wanted Byram coming back in a potential trade with COL for Eichel. So, basically he was KA’s first choice. -
30 goals? We don’t need no 30 stinking goals.

Kevyn and Don, should we really expect more after four years?
kas23 replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
I‘m unsure which “he” you are speaking of, but either one had/has a starters job with the Sabres. We don’t know exactly why Ulmark left. It could’ve been the death of his father. But, one thing is for sure. UPL could’ve also very well think he needs a change of scenery. One where he doesn’t have to put up with the Levi ball washing. -

If you would UPL, would you resign with the Sabres? I’m prepared for Ulmark 2.0. -

Been thinking about this thread for days. I don’t buy the whole approach of comparing the Sabres to bottom dwellers. True, they all have losing in common. But there’s fundamental flaws in most of these teams. There are teams out there, no matter what they do, and they will still lose. Some say they are “cursed” or ownership or whatever. Who knows. But these are certainly not the teams we should use as a yardstick for progress. If an “educated” opinion believes they are, they prove they are likely part of the problem, not the solution. As such, their opinion should be ignored. -
I agree. The video is incredible. Traffic was flowing fairly briskly, then luckily thinned out to almost none right before the ship hit.

Do we have a single prospect that will be any good next year?
kas23 replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
Good point. Maybe someone should go to Cabo with them and help them select the right things to eat. Or make them carry their luggage instead of rolling it. -

I’m a big Benson fan and still think he’s a prospect, despite playing in the NHL. He’s only 18 and has shown flashes of brilliance this year. Compared to anyone else, he’s going to be the prospect that takes the next big step. Dude has to put in a great offseason though. Needs to get bigger and stronger. -
He should’ve got 10+ games.

They are acting like they are already on the big club already. It’s odd we are not only seeing players take a large step back on the Sabres, but the Amerks too. More evidence some housecleaning needs to happen.

Sabres to open 2024-25 Season in Prague against the Devils

I just got back from a business trip in Prague. Very pretty city. Probably picking it because it’s cheaper than a larger city. -

It I “shouted it down”, I would’ve bolded it or maybe used the word “emphatically”. Trust me, the irony is not lost on me. But, sorry for having an opinion differing from another opinion. What was I thinking? -
