  1. In addition to the $100,000 of Trump Foundation money to settle a lawsuit against him, $12,000 to buy a Tim Tebow helmet, and $30,000 to buy two portraits of himself.
  2. I thought it was funny, but I felt a bit bad for how far he's fallen to do that. Imagine the election on issues there would be going on if he was the nominee instead of the Trump twitterverse we're in. I'm sure some Repubs are having buyers remorse. In other news, an ex-aide will testify in NJ bridge closures trial that Gov. Chris Christie knew about the scheme, prosecutors say.
  3. Prior to the police discovery of the pressure cooker, Chris Christie was observed hovering over the device with knife and fork.
  4. I played this morning. We play all year on Sunday mornings, including the summer. I never stretch because when I do I sometimes pull a muscle. I've even done it tieing my laces. I just do some skating and hip turns during warmup and I'm good.
  5. I answered, you just don't like it because it refutes your arguement. Let's see, has anything changed since 88-00? Oh yeah, technology and more scientifically accurate polling. There's no rule about parties, ANYONE who polls at an average of 15% can participate. Meet the threshold and I have no problem including them. Trump isn't my candidate, but he's met the threshold.
  6. It's an average of polls, not one poll. If Johnson's neighborhood is 15% he can participate. And Perot turned out to be a fringe nutjob in the end. What else do you want to change, count a goal if its in the crease? A touchdown if they get inside the 5? There are clear rules and lines that have to be crossed in everything. Stop whining and cherry picking.
  7. No, they would say you didn't reach the 15% threshold. You don't want them to change the rules by raising the bar, but want to change the rules to suit your preference. Lower the bar and then Jill Stein will complain, and so on and so on. Americans deserve to hear from those who have a realistic chance to be president, not fringe candidates. Get to 15% and prove they're viable and they can participate.
  8. It is so frustrating to see the media not challenge lies that Trump surrogates say. The latest was just on CNN where in response to a question about Trump's secret service guns comment the Trump supporter, a Washington Times columnist, said it's in response to Clinton wanting to take away American's guns and revoke the 2nd Amendment. And the interviewer doesn't correct the lies. And don't let him change the subject. A one sentence statement to make suburban whites feel less guilty over voting for him doesn't explain away 5 years of questioning the President's legitimacy.
  9. 'Sen. Bernie Sanders sarcastically dismissed a statement from Donald Trump's campaign saying that the Republican nominee now believes President Barack Obama is a US citizen, arguing that the "birther" movement is about "delegitimizing the first African-American president in the history of our country." Appearing Friday on "New Day" on CNN, Sanders offered a caustic rejection of the Trump campaign's statement, put out by spokesman Jason Miller on Thursday night. "Well isn't that something. My word! After eight years of having President Obama as president, Donald Trump now thinks he's a legitimate president. Well I'm just overwhelmed with emotion," Sanders told CNN's Chris Cuomo. "Look, this is pathetic. And this goes to the root of what Trump's campaign is about," said Sanders. "Let's be clear -- it's about bigotry. You remember, let's all remember, that a few years ago, Donald Trump was the leader of the so-called 'birther' movement. And what the birther movement was about was not being critical of Obama. This is democracy, we can criticize Obama. It was delegitimizing the first African-American president." "It is not acceptable for a candidate for president of the United States to be arguing whether or not our President was born in this country." Sanders also drew a line between Trump's role in mainstreaming the birther movement in 2012 and his presidential campaign in 2016, saying that "I think this is part of his entire campaign of bigotry" and that Trump is "trying to appeal to those extreme, extreme, extreme extremes, who still believe that Obama was not born in America."' http://www.kitv.com/story/33110724/bernie-sanders-blasts-trump-birther-statement-this-is-pathetic 'Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Friday urged Americans considering voting for third-party presidential candidates to instead vote for Hillary Clinton, painting Donald Trump as a risk that the country cannot afford. “Let us elect Hillary Clinton as president, and the day after, let us mobilize millions of people around the progressive agenda,” Sanders said in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” The Vermont senator, who has endorsed Clinton and is expected to campaign for her in Ohio this weekend, said that he understood voters’ frustration with the two-party system. But he warned that “protest” votes could contribute to a Trump victory. “Look, I was a third-party candidate. I began my career running as a third party, getting 2 percent and then 1 percent,” Sanders said. “I'm the longest serving independent in the history of the U.S. Congress, but I think that before you cast a protest vote, because Clinton or Trump will be president, think hard about it. This is not a governor's race. It's not a state legislative race. This is the presidency of the United States.” “And I would say to those people out there who are thinking of the protest vote, think about what the country looks like and whether you're comfortable with four years of a Trump presidency,” he continued.' http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/sanders-tells-voters-elect-clinton-over-third-party-candidates
  10. Don't know if this was discussed already, but on the topic of Trump supporters there's the story of one of them punching a 69 year old woman in the face a couple of days ago outside a Trump rally. And it wasn't Hillary. http://www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2016/09/13/69-year-old-woman-punched-asheville-trump-rally/90301468/
  11. To make the general statement that Trump supporters are racist is not ban worthy. I've seen plenty of disparaging remarks about those of us that support Clinton. That is part of the discussion going on across the country; what is it that attracts Trump supporters. His support of the Birther movement, his views on Mexicans or Muslims? If you disagree then make your case, but he's expressing his views on the question.
  12. I agreed with your post, so I guess I should have been suspended too as an accessory to the crime. Are you sure it wasn't Putin hacking the site to help his buddy?
  13. It's like you didn't get a rose on The Batchlor.
  14. Not control but significant impact based on policies. They can work with the Congress to pass their tax and economic initiatives or veto those they disagree with. They make appointments to the Federal Reserve. Obama had a direct impact by supporting the bailout to stabilize the banking system after the '08 Recession, and saved the American auto companies from bankruptcy which would have exacerbated the recession. So yes, who is president and their philosophy on the role of government does make a difference.
  15. So you DON'T want a candidate to change their views over time to be in sync with the majority? Then why would the majority want to vote for them? Are they not allowed to evolve their views like us? They are citizens too. "Hey I don't agree with your outdated positions, but I'll vote for you because you don't change with the times".
  16. I supported her in '08 over Obama, and do again because I continue to believe she has the knowledge and temperament to do the job. She has a history of working to improve people's lives and has taken the policy and personal rhetorical bullets for 30 years and hasn't backed down. I can't think of another person who has been so scrutinized in politics as her. We know who she is; not a great politician but a great policy wonk who knows the details and the mechanics of how to get policies implemented. To have continued to campaign and make public appearances, going against her doctor's recommendation, shows how committed she is to the task. We all know what it's like to have to go to work when we feel like crap because of some deadline. She had bi-partisan praise as a Senator, working with Republicans on common goals, which I believe she would renew once in office. I also like that she is a bit of a hawk, and will be tough in foreign policy but with the experience to know when and how diplomacy will work. I don't know of another Democrat who I would have supported over her in the primaries. Bottom line is I trust her to do the job and promote the policies I agree with. Just my humble opinion.
  17. Playing nice doesn't get media attention. She's been trying it for months. Her supporters agree with what she said, and most of those that disagree wouldn't vote for her anyways. No equivilency, he views the military like a John Wayne movie. For everyone who calls her a war hawk and disagreed with the Iraq War, it should be reassuring that she doesn't plan to make that mistake again by committing tens of thousands of ground troops. Her plan calls for supporting the regional ground troops, while Trump won't reveal his secret plans, except for taking the oil.
  18. I agree with everything you said. She can't just sit back and let Trump attack her, she's going on the offensive. And nothing upsets Trump like a strong woman who stands up to him. Time to call the 'Alt-Right' what they are. Any of his supporters who take offense probably fit the description. If they don't fit the description, then they aren't in the basket and shouldn't take offense.
  19. "With Iran, when they circle our beautiful destroyers with their little boats, and they make gestures at our people that they shouldn't be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water." Donald Trump So we're going to go to war if an Iranian sailor flips the bird to a ship? What if they just post it on Twitter?
  20. True, but I expect and want my president to be knowledgeable on the many issues they will face on day one, in addition to preferring their policy positions. And before anyone says "what about Obama?", I supported Clinton in 2008.
  21. He's probably hoping that Johnson gets included in the debates so Trump doesn't have to talk as much.
  22. "Mr Trump, do you have an opinion on Aleppo?" "Al Eppo, is he my Italian who installed the marble in my bathroom? The Italians love me by the way. He did a good, not great job so I only paid him 50%."
  23. Degeneration X. Unfortunately more people will be watching for the theatrics then the policy positions. Will Trump be judged vis-a-vis Clinton on knowledge and temperament, or will he be judged on the lower expectation Palin scale. Any reaction from Gary Johnson voters on his interview this morning where when asked said, "What is Aleppo?".
  24. Lauer spent the first 10 minutes talking about emails, because that hasn't been discussed enough, and then tried to hurry her up when she was talking about ISIS because they ran out of time. And then there was Trump demeaning our generals again, still saying we should "take the oil", and then lying about never being for the Iraq war and Lauer didn't challenge him with the facts.
  25. Saw a Republican pollster today say that CNN poll that showed it close over polled non college educated whites on a weekend when educated whites are often not home to answer. He wished it were true but admitted it wasn't an accurate poll.
