  1. Hillary said during the debate that she'd be blamed for everything, and We've is proving it. He's going to pull a muscle with these stretches. Losing almost a billion dollars in business in one year disproves his claim that he's a great businessman. The tax laws let him recover by avoiding taxes (allegedly), but what about all the people who lost their jobs by his mismanagement. What did they get out of it? In 2015, the Clintons paid an effective federal income tax rate of 34.2 percent and an effective state and local income tax rate of 9 percent for a combined federal, state, and local effective tax rate of 43.2 percent. They donated 9.8 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity. And you can see their tax returns for the last 30 years. All Trump has to do is release his tax returns and prove everybody wrong. But we know why he won't, and it has nothing to do with audits.
  2. What he's hiding isn't just about his taxes, it's about what debts or business dealings does he have with other countries, and would there be a conflict of interest. Unless I missed the rule change, one Senator can't change the rules, only vote on what's proposed. Again, it's a matter of who wants to change the tax laws to benefit the wealthiest for trickle down economics, and who wants to change them to benefit the middle class for demand side economics.
  3. Clinton voted against the Bush-era tax cuts that were the single biggest contributor to the deficit, in which the average tax cut received by the top 0.1 percent of Americans was $520,000 for those making more than $3 million a year. That is over 450 times the tax cut received by an average middle-class family. Trump wants to double down on cuts for the wealthiest; trickle down economics. Clinton wants to increase taxes on the wealthiest, as Warren Buffet has called for, and give tax cuts to the middle class and small businesses. It's not about whether everyone paid what the law called for, it's about what they want to do going forward and who, including themselves, would profit most from their tax proposals.
  4. Bill Weld, Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson's running, suggested Friday that Hillary Clinton may be the best-qualified candidate for president. "I'm not sure anyone's more qualified to be president of the United States than Hillary Clinton right now," Weld told MSNBC's Chuck Todd on Friday. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/bill-weld-hillary-clinton-qualified-president-228989#ixzz4LmvLxpSZ
  5. But Trump would say Hitler had a smaller wiener schnitzel.
  6. The Libertarian Party could have had a legitimate candidate if they put Bill Weld at the top of their ticket. But like Pence with Trump, he's left trying to explain away Johnson's gaffes.
  7. A company controlled by Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, secretly conducted business in communist Cuba during Fidel Castro’s presidency despite strict American trade bans that made such undertakings illegal, according to interviews with former Trump executives, internal company records and court filings. Documents show that the Trump company spent a minimum of $68,000 for its 1998 foray into Cuba at a time when the corporate expenditure of even a penny in the Caribbean country was prohibited without U.S. government approval. But the company did not spend the money directly. Instead, with Trump’s knowledge, executives funneled the cash for the Cuba trip through an American consulting firm called Seven Arrows Investment and Development Corporation. Once the business consultants traveled to the island and incurred the expenses for the venture, Seven Arrows instructed senior officers with Trump’s company—then called Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts—how to make it appear legal by linking it after-the-fact to a charitable effort. The payment by Trump Hotels came just before the New York business mogul launched his first bid for the White House, seeking the nomination of the Reform Party. On his first day of the campaign, he traveled to Miami where he spoke to a group of Cuban-Americans, a critical voting bloc in the swing state. Trump vowed to maintain the embargo and never spend his or his companies’ money in Cuba until Fidel Castro was removed from power. Officials with the Trump campaign and the Trump Organization did not respond to emails seeking comment on the Cuba trip, further documentation about the endeavor or an interview with Trump. Richard Fields, who was then the principal in charge of Seven Arrows, did not return calls seeking comment. http://www.newsweek.com/2016/10/14/donald-trump-cuban-embargo-castro-violated-florida-504059.html
  8. But when in the Senate she was praised for her bipartisanship by many Republicans. She also received positive reviews from Republicans as Secretary of State. They're all on video as saying so. But as soon as she started to run for president, they retreated back to their own corner. Which is why I believe when the silly season is over, she will be able to work with Republicans.
  9. I keep hearing this reference to 30 years. She was a Senator for 8 years and Sec of State for 4. That's 12 years in public office. Is being First Lady now considered public office? She advocated for health care, but had no official capacity to enact or vote for it, just advocate. Even if you inlude First Lady, that's 20 years. So now we're supposed to include First Lady of Arkansas? And if so, is advocating to improve people's lives going back to the '80's supposed to be a bad thing? How so? Allowing Americans to sue a foreign government over a terrorist act perpetrated by its citizens sets a bad precedent that will be turned back on the US. If foreigners are shot and killed in the US will their families sue the US because the government has not enacted tougher gun control? Will they sue because we're holding prisoners in Guantanamo without charging them and giving them a trial?
  10. Former Republican Sen. John Warner endorsed Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, calling her “prepared to be a world leader and the United States president.” The longtime Virginia senator cast the choice between Clinton and Donald Trump as a dire one for world security, saying he felt “distressed by some of the comments” made by Trump, though he did not speak Trump’s name until the end of his speech, when he said: “Loose lips sink ships. You got that Trump?”. “There comes a time when I have to stand up and assert my own views,” Warner said here. “If there’s one thing about candidate Clinton that you’ve got to understand, she throughout her whole life has been prepared, done her homework and studied.” http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/john-warner-hillary-clinton-228819 For the first time in its 126-year history, The Arizona Republic has endorsed a Democratic candidate for president. The paper's editorial board said Hillary Clinton is "the only choice to move America ahead." "Since The Arizona Republic began publication in 1890, we have never endorsed a Democrat over a Republican for president. Never. This reflects a deep philosophical appreciation for conservative ideals and Republican principles," the paper's editorial board wrote. "This year is different." The editorial said Clinton's temperament and experience prepare her for office, while it questioned Donald Trump for not releasing his tax returns, asking "whose hand do you want on the nuclear button?" Clinton has racked up her fair share of nontraditional endorsements from newspapers. Last week, The Cincinnati Enquirer, which noted it had backed Republican candidates for president “for almost a century," also endorsed Clinton. Earlier this month, The Dallas Morning News endorsed the former secretary of state, making her the first Democrat that newspaper has endorsed in over 75 years. http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2016/09/the-arizona-republic-endorses-hillary-clinton-228818
  11. Now you're checking out my pom poms? Are you really Anthony Weiner? Not mathematically true. If nobody voted for Hillary in those states, she wouldn't win. Obviously she needs one more vote than Trump, so who's to say which person is the vote to put her over the top.
  12. I see you're still going through the 7 stages of grief. Making silly assumptions about others.
  13. Democrat does not equal liberal socialist.
  14. Being a Senator from New York when 9/11 occurred would make anyone eager to go after the perpetrators, as was the vast majority of Americans. Regarding Iran she took the diplomatic steps to get sanctions imposed that even Russia and China agreed to, which forced Iran into the nuclear agreement. Trump would start a war with Iran if they made gestures at our ships.
  15. Given I'm a Clinton supporter, I don't think Trump helped himself with blacks or national security voters based on his responses.
  16. We're being hacked by a 400 pounder on a bed!
  17. And after Cruz said all these about Trump: "I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father," Cruz said. "That pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander my wife that I am going to come like a servile puppy dog for maligning my wife and maligning my father." "He is proud of being a serial philanderer," Cruz said. "This man is a pathological liar. He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies," Cruz added. "In a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying." And:"Whatever lie he's telling, at that minute he believes it." "The man is utterly amoral." "Donald is a bully. Bullies don't come from strength; they come from weakness."
  18. I agree that it is being over hyped. Trump will try to act presidential to appear as a reasonable option. I'll be surprised if he calls her Crooked Hillary or brings up Bill's infidelity. But I also think that most people are watching for the entertainment more than to learn about policies. But then the "group of undecideds" that the networks will roll out will say they wanted more details about policies. Most people have already decided if they are voting for one of them or neither. There may be some who can be persuaded to vote for their preference instead of staying home or voting 3rd party, but I can't believe there's anyone who is currently supporting one of them and will switch to the other based on tonight, unless Trump drops his pants or Hillary faints. I'm not sure what they'd do if both happened.
  19. I never knew Trump had an affair with Mark Cuban.
  20. Can a cat run for president? http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/jul/14/limberbutt-mccubbins/can-a-cat-run-for-president/
  21. When the Sabres play soft: "There's no checking at The Bank". When they don't: "Matthews got deposited on his keyyyy-ster".
  22. http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/police-arrest-man-who-stabbed-security-guard-at-716-food-and-sport-20160922 Not a good experience at 716.
  23. 'Chief Putney said Thursday that footage from the Scott shooting does not show "absolute, definitive visual evidence that could confirm that a person is pointing a gun. I didn’t see that in the videos I saw." Still, Putney told the news conference that he'll only show the footage to the victim's family, not the public. The chief said the agency only publicly releases video of shootings "when we believe there is a compelling reason." He said the department wants to be as transparent as possible, "but I never said full transparency." "If you think we should display a family’s worst day for public consumption, that is not the transparency we’re speaking of," Putney said. The chief's comments come a week before a North Carolina law goes into effect that would require a court order to disclose police footage to the public.' So now there's going to be a law making it harder for the public to see footage. North Carolina is going backwards with this and their bathroom law.
  24. There are some ideas I could support, but the thoughts that I would take issue with: 1. To have the proposed 10 week campaign, it would have to be done during the Sept-June time frame. You can't have primaries or elections during the summer when many people are on vacation. And it still wouldn't prevent candidates from campaigning before the 10 weeks due to freedom of speech. 3. I'm not aware of any proof that the president campaigning for others is a 'massive waste of time'. The president isn't doing it every day like candidates, and the country still functions for the couple of hours a president is campaigning. It's similar to the argument that the president shouldn't take vacations to clear brush on their ranch or go golfing. 5. No to the debate rule. There are different rules in different states, some like Vermont only require 1,000 petition signatures to get on the presidential ballot. That's a pretty low bar to then include those people on the same stage with the candidates that have tens of millions of supporters. 15% average support is a reasonable threshold. 6. Definitely not. While all the states should have the same process (primaries not caucuses), you should have to be a member of a party to have a vote on who the party candidate is. No open primaries. If you don't want to commit to a party, then organize behind an independent candidate. But Democrats and Independents shouldn't have a say in who the Republican nominee is. Your other ideas are reasonable. Or Trump might not shake her hand, and say he'd like to but he doesn't want to get sick, to perpetuate that issue. Or he shakes and then pulls out a bottle of Purell.
  25. The issue is that Trump bought those items with Foundation money, and he and his campaign refuse to say what happened to them. If they're in his possession or at one of his properties, that is a violation of the law. If they donated them to another charity, which would be legal, then why wouldn't they say so and end the story. Just more lack of transparency like his tax returns.
