    I believe they didn't renew his contract. He lives in California and would commute to Sabres games, which probably wasn't the best way to keep a job.

    Disappointed in the D. They looked much improved on paper, but the reality is they look just as bad as last year's group in the D zone. Too many times guys are left open near the crease. Scandella is the most disappointing.

    Middlestat looks like he's going to be a star in a few years if he keeps progressing.

    Nylander needs a year in AHL to grow physically and mentally. He's not shown yet that he deserves an NHL spot. Bailey or CJ Smith are most likely first callups.

    Little Paul Byron will score first goal of game. Game will go to OT where Jack will hit the post. Sabres will lose in shootout as Lehrer doesn't stop a shot after having 32 saves.

    They have enough vets, id rather the ice time go to a younger prospect. Fine if he's mostly a practice player.

    In the 3rd Griffith seemed to have the speed to play with Eichel. Could move Pommer to 3rd line.

    Sad to see DLo waived, the guy gives max effort. Hopefully gets claimed or down to Roch. I wasn't impressed that Nolan did anything better. I expect Moulson will be the extra forward that will play occasionally, like Gorges on D when all are healthy. Purely contract-cap reasons to keep them.

    Some nights he was the only one taking the body on the forecheck. He started in Kings system as a D. Like keeping someone on the Bills because they can also play special teams. He's also been playing PK in preseason, which lets top 6 players rest. I don't know if Nolan has that versatility.

    I like DLo's forechecking, plus he can play D in a pinch if they lose D during a game.

    I had to think for a second to remember he's a Sabre. Funny how the rink announcer acts like it's a Sabres home game, and the vast majority of fans don't react because they're Pens fans. Almost like when the Leafs play in Buffalo.

    I never buy jerseys with names on them. Some of the players are younger than my son. I wear the jerseys when I play. I have Sabres home, away, 40th anniversary, slug, goat head, old Syracuse Crunch, Florida Everblades, Toledo Walleyes, Orlando Solar Bears, and this year got a vintage Oakland Seals. I did get a number 5 (my old youth number started at Howie Meeker hockey school, and the number my son used in high school) on it because they offered free customization, but not my or any player's name.

    Good chances late, just too many penalties. Pens had an older team with a lot of speed.
