DLo had 12 goals 18 assists with Sabres, 6 goals in one season. This year in 15 games 3G 3A +9 5PIM. Nolan in 30 games 2G 2A -4 19PIM. For a 4th liner I'd take DLo any day over Nolan. At least DLo showed a passion and made it tough on opposing D. There are games where Nolan isn't noticed at all. He's only there based on how he played 3 years ago.

I hate seeing players that the Sabres thought weren't good enough to play 4th line or 3rd D have success with other teams. Paul Byron, Daniel Paille, Tim Schaller, Chad Ruwedel.

Game Discussion Thread Buffalo at Saint Louis, December 10, 2017, 7pm (MSG)
pastajoe replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
Kane was in the "D" position. Normally the forward gives the player over to the defenseman who would force him wide, and the forward picks up the trailer coming down the slot. Just as Eichel gave him over to Kane, Kane moved to play the slot, and Eichel couldn't catch him. The error was Kane's for not playing like a defenseman. I'd like to see Eichel and Kane split up in OT so they have a more defensive minded player with them. Put Kane with ROR, and ERod with Eichel. -
Briere: Still Can't Believe Vanek Chosen Over 4 1sts, Drury, and I

They thought they had to sign their rising star Vanek after letting those two go, or else the fans would have gone nuts over letting everyone go. -
I haven't seen much defensive/agitating action from him this year. He's just another interchangeable part until they can upgrade. Rodriguez can do the same with more speed and offense.

Botts following the Bills model of picking up Carolina cast offs that the GM is familiar with. Swapping deck chairs on the Titanic.

Johansson got his first loss today as Brampton beat Cincy. They lost from a shorthanded goal against with 2 minutes left in game. What's with these Sabres teams giving up SH goals?!
-
Amerks lose in shootout. But Johansson wins again for Cincy, he's now 3-0.
-
Amerks lose in OT. Another short handed goal against in 3rd. Guhle didn't dress. There's obviously a problem with the power play setup in the organization. I hate that rush it and then drop it back to the last player in the neutral zone play. On a positive note, Johansson is now 2-0 in Cincy after coming back from his season long injury.

Went to Amerks-Crunch game tonight. It started out like watching the Sabres. At one point in the 1st the Crunch led in shots 17-2. Amerks gave up 2 short handed goals in game. Yet the Amerks were able to get the lead a couple of times. Game went to OT, Crunch player blew by Baptiste and cut to net, hit post, puck bounced up and hit Ullmark's back and in for 6-5 Crunch win. Ullmark made a number of great saves. The goals were a result of odd man rushes and lack of covering players near crease. Overall the team made a number of blind or bad passes that cost them. Guhle tried to make too many cute passes instead of keeping it simple. Nylander didn't play much until the 2nd and 3rd, but wasn't very effective. He still looks thin and able to be pushed off puck.

Everything Sabres Uniform Related - Royal Blue Please!

OK, but don't like "NY" on logo, and there should be gold on the yoke and numbers. Would like 3 sets of stripes. -
Tank was worth it and I still support it. The goals were Ekblad and McDavid. We still ended up with good consolation prizes. The issue has been the players brought in that fill out the roster, especially the bottom 6 that don't produce and the D to date. Kane, O'Reilly, and Okposo were quality pick ups. Unfortunately they couldn't convince Vesey and Butcher. They have some good prospects like Middlestat, Guhle, Pu, and Borgen.
-
He just turned 21 and you want to give up on him? They'd never get fair value for him. He's the only reason to watch the team now. Wait a couple years when he's got Middlestat, Guhle, and Pu to help.

Your exaggerations about DLo are ridiculous. You implied they lost to Arizona because of him, which just isn't true. What has Nolan contributed? He's invisible in games, whereas DLo would play his role and forecheck. He at least had a fight for Montreal. Nolan shows no passion. There are others that are contributing nothing, such as Larsson, Griffith, and Moulson, and the team wouldn't miss them either.
-
5 goals against but DLo had a 0 plus/minus.
-
It's an example of a player not fulfilling their role. He wasn't an upgrade.
-
Yet he got called up and is now playing in Montreal.
-
DLo would provide a spark when the team was sleeping with hard hits and the occasional fight. And he was faster than some of this year's player's on the forecheck. Nolan isn't delivering for the role he's supposed to be playing.
-
Nolan was a bad pickup. He contributes nothing and takes bad penalties. At least DLo would make hard clean checks to make the opposing D cough the puck up.
-
Ugh, he was beaten regularly in previous games. I'd rather try Guhle or Nelson.

Read a story today that Calgary wanted Reinhart and would give Sam Bennett, who has a cap friendly 2 year bridge deal. So basically it would be a dump of Reinhart so they could afford to resign Kane.

Coyote fans are saying the same thing about the Sabres.

Is there a setting so when I go into a thread it takes me to the most recent page? For example, I came into this tread through the mobile app, and it takes me to 2008. I'd have to keep hitting the Next button to get to the end, unless I post.

You do know that Terry tried to hire Babcock, but his wife preferred the Toronto lifestyle. Terry's trying to rebuild the downtown, but it's never going to be Toronto.

Those teams were lucky to be bad when there were such good players in those years, and they got the 1st pick. Middelstadt may be the complementary star to Eichel.
