You don't get the spirit behind my post. Dude, you come at people in a rude way. You come across as someone who always has to be right. The fact that you said 'try again' shows you have to get the last word in. Settle down, I'm done with you in this thread (for now).

Read your posts. YOU are the one that needs to stop. The tone of your posts is very confrontational...as I said in my post and other have responded to you also, you are going at people asking them for proof, and exaggerating your own claims. Its there in black and white. By, nice of you to get so offended that you have to ask someone to 'stop' when they call you out on it. lol You are missing my whole point (and the point of others). We have an OPINION. We are stating that OPINION on a message board. The fact that you are replying to basically everyone who recently posted their OPINION that jack is a bad leader and wanting them to seeming prove it shows that you are the one that needs to 'stop' This is a forum. Ideas to be discussed. Opinions to be shared. Every single one that disagrees with you is not an open challenge to you to reply to in order to dispute. Sit down and calm down. You know what is a sure sign than someone needs a 'time out', when in response to a pretty calm post they use words and phrases like "Dude just stop" , "this is getting ridiculous", dropping F-bombs....and of course NOTHING says a person has an open mind better than when they end their post with the classic "Whatever" lol

Wow, you are really REALLY going out of your way to defend Jack and try to dispute everything anyone says to the negative of him. Let me try to put it this way....a lot of us can't quantify exactly why we have the feeling we have, we couldn't defend our feelings like a lawyer in a court of law...apparently that is what you expect of us. HOWEVER, there is basis for that feeling we have. When this team has had other captains, MORE has come out positive about them than there has been about Jack. You may not think JS Dea matters because he was a minor league player mostly, but the truth is of the other captains the Sabres have had, we do not remember any of that talk coming about them EVEN from a Minor leaguer. So can we quantify and defend our exact feelings with specific examples for you to try to take apart? Maybe some of us can, but others of us simply do not have the time to look it up. What we do know is there is more negative about Jacks leadership (even if it is from a minor leaguer, that is still more than most other captains have had), and there is LESS positive we hear of (Gionta may have said good things about him once, but 'other captains' have had positive things said about them much more, from our own personal observation). And as Pimlach above just said, where is that list of glowing comments about Jack's leadership from former respected players and coaches? If there is anything I heard along those lines...it is just the basic stuff they have to say, nothing where they go on and on about just how good of a leader he is. You know where I don't hear anything positive about his leadership? Anywhere outside of Buffalo. Listen to some national talk (canadian stations) and you will hear them talk about other teams captains who are good leaders...even guys on not-so-good teams...but you don't hear that about Jack from outside sources who have contacts in the league.

If Eichel is healthy, and for SOME REASON (whatever that may be) he legit WANTS to stay with team long term, then of course consider keeping him. I think the issue what a lot of us wanting him gone is...we just don't think he wants to be here, and if you COULD convince him to stay, his heart might not be 100% with the Sabres anymore. I want him traded simply because I think he is 'done' with the Sabres, and he will never be '100% back'.
-
They looked good, but I do not want to see any of them called up unless they are banging down the door so hard to get a spot with the Sabres that there is no choice. If they have pretty good or good seasons in Rochester...keep them down there. I don't want guys that young with the Sabres unless it is to the point they are dominating in Roch so much that they aren't improving much anymore. Let them play a full season down there, let them become team leaders. Let them have a look at a playoff series or two down there and be a big part of it. A game or two (or maybe a week) to give them a 'taste' of true NHL play might be a good idea (so they can see a reminder of just what they need to work on to make the NHL), but nothing more than that.

I remember back in the couple years after the tank, it seemed like MOST of the comments on this board were happy about the Evander Kane trade, people were saying back they they didn't want to wait to win and wanted to trade more of the picks for guys who could help right away, and of course like every year there were those who wanted to make big moves in the free agent market. Then there were others who wanted to not trade away any of the picks, not sign any vets to big contracts unless they were brought up through the system and earned it, and even a couple comments about saving the money you would spend on players you traded for and/or free agents and using that to bolster the scouting dept and to bring in better coaches. There weren't many of those posters though, and their voices were drowned out by seemingly a 5 to 1 ratio of those who wanted to team to get good and do it quickly. Well, we are back close to that same 'starting' point again. Are we still tired of losing and want to take shortcuts to be good again in just a year or two? Or do we want to do it the 'right way' this time, even it it takes 2 times as long (or more)?

I'm for keeping things new and fresh, I don't want to see the same things over and over as far is the 'in arena' presentation. Just give the the Sabre Dance song played whenever the Sabres enter the ice, and a better goal song (I'd rather have No song at all, just the horn, instead of the current song) and that is all the tradition I need. And if you want to start the games right on time, keeping any pre-game fluff to a minimum I am for that too.

The Arena itself is really not in good shape. I have been lucky enough to go to games or events in several other Arenas in the past 5-7 years, and the Key Bank Center is really pretty far behind not only the newer arenas, but the ones even that were built at the same time (Boston and Philly for example, have done extensive renovations and are a lot nicer). Columbus has a better arena and the area right outside the Arena is great too. Don't even think about comparing it to Detroit or Vegas. The last time I was at the Arena for a Sabres game (a bit more than 2 years ago), I noticed bathrooms where all the facilities didn't work, as others have said possibly no hot water.... Cramped hallways when trying to get concessions, broken cupholders on the seats, seat 'cushions' that were disgustingly dirty...and the concrete of the stairs and where you put your feel was cracked and pitted pretty badly. So why does that matter, shouldn't a 'true fan' not really need a nice new arena with a good game presentation, if you are there for the game? Actually, it is just the opposite. A true 'hardcore' fan who only cares about the game can see the game best at home on TV, missing a LOT less than in the arena. If I'm going to go to the Arena, give me more than I have at home. Give me atmosphere, give me nice things to spend my money on, give me comfortable seats, give me good food. If you aren't going to do those things like other cities do, then I am MUCH better off watching the game at home. Again, if the product on the ice was ALL that matters, the best place to see that product on the ice would be at home for many/most people.
-
I would do the same if I lived a bit closer to the Arena. Even if the team is bad, it still is against NHL players and teams. Unfortunately, we live about 45 minutes away (without traffic) which is a bit too far with my job usual 6am start times.

I want him to be a 'quality' second pair d-man. I think he is bordering on that 3rd pair and 2nd pair in terms of ability. Hopefully by being paired with the right partner, he can execute at a 2nd pair level.

Snow during the last week of December around the Holidays, a few flakes in January would be nice too, maybe a day in late November. Beyond that I'm OK with no snow. As far as an Eichel trade, I'm not commenting much anymore because there is little left I can say that is new...but I still want it to get done asap, maybe more so now than even a few weeks or months ago.

I liked Miller, I really did, but to me he was simply an above average goalie with ONE Vezina year. That can make him a fan favorite, it can make him a team ambassador, but it does not make for a retired number. You can have your number retired if you play in multiple cup finals (and win at least 1), or have a couple Vezina trophies and contend for 1 or two more. Miller doesn't quite reach that retired number level for me.

Or the beat reporters and journalists that cover the rangers. I swear some of the worst trade proposals come out of the NY city media.....The Rangers should give the Sabres the 5th and 6th best prospect they have and a 3rd round pick in 2023, but ONLY if the Sabres eat most of Eichel's contract. I swear that is some of the stuff I hear about the the Media from NY city.

Pegulas New Bills Stadium Proposal a Public and Private Partnership
mjd1001 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
So what does this mean for the Sabres arena? Originally, the first story said funds were going to be linked for upgrades here with the new Bills stadium, I haven't heard much about that. Key Bank Center already needs some major upgrades now...I can't imagine how it is going to be in 5-7 years from now if it doesn't get major upgrades/repairs. -
Eichel is changing Agents will be represented by Pat Brisson
mjd1001 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
That still doesn't discount what I was saying....that If he just doesn't make up stuff out of the blue, then there would be some truth to what he says. -

I agree. Is he perfect as a reporter? No, but he is going to be disliked by some fans because he will criticize a player, often times that player is one that people are fans of. Does he slant his reporting/opinions? Maybe, but I don't think he just makes stuff up. So even if his reporting is slanted, you can read between the lines and find some truth in it. -
We have family that lives down there, so I try to make the best of it.

I think it was many pages back that someone brought up something about Miami and this thread... I think Miami has to be the most overrated city around. Things are kind of touching go with covid but we were there again for 2 days this summer, and having visited the city probably six or seven times in the past decade, I really don't get the appeal of it. Even if you're into the nightlife, which I admittedly am not anymore, I think Las Vegas, parts of California, and even New Orleans give you most of what Miami gives you if not more. Honestly you don't have the Latin music scene in Boston, but summertime in Boston has tons of great rooftop bars and other venues that individually are just as fun. Plus the city tends to smell really bad more than most cities, the weather can be unbearable, there's no public transportation to get around, I just don't get it. What am I missing?

The Sabres, Eichel, NHL and NHLPA had a meeting regarding Jack
mjd1001 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The answer to that depends on that persons big picture perspective. To many fans, the rebuild/tank of the last decade didn't work. Many fans just want to start over...even if that means/meant moving Sam, Jack, basically most of what you aquired and built 5-10 years ago. Seeing a GM move what was the old/current 'young core' and just start over.......to those people that isn't 'blind fandom', it is a refreshing restart. -

I don't totall disagree with you, but keep in mind this would only really apply if Adams was trying to trade a player and only one other team was interested. When you are trading with multiple suitors....those other teams are not just negotiating with you, but they are kind of negotiating 'against' the other teams. You can think Adams is a GM you can wait out and eventually get what you want without giving up too much, but if another team is after the same asset, you just can't do that because all the other team has to do is slightly beat your offer and then you lost that game. I really don't think this is a case of a bunch of other GM's 'testing' Adams to see if he will cave. I more think it is a matter of a bunch of other GM's being a bit afraid to be the one to pull off a trade for an injured player. -

So was this meaning the reason behind Jack's now somewhat famous twitter emoji post? -
Eichel is changing Agents will be represented by Pat Brisson
mjd1001 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Hes not getting surgery anytime soon. Hes going to miss the start of the NHL season...each day that goes by in this stalemate he misses more time. He is likely now going to miss the Olympics, with no shot at it again for 4 more years. And, he can't seem to have any options to do anything about any of this. So, when you can't do SOMETHING, you do ANYTHING. He is tired of just waiting around for nothing to happen and this is the only move he can make now. -
To be honest with you, there ARE a lot of fans that think that because he got in a fight that is INDEED the thing that will make him a good leader. In light of some of the replies I am getting today, let me state that is NOT what I am saying you are saying....but if you listen to 'the instigators' on a regular basis, there have been quite a few callers over the last 6 months or so that have directly connected him getting into a fight as the single best sign he is going to be a good leader.

I was not reacting to you or your comments, but rather speaking in general. I have no idea why you are taking it as an attack on you, when I don't know what specific posts you have actually made. I am saying IN GENERAL, there seems to be a lot of posts on this forum where people are intimating he will be the next captain and a great captain and player at the same time, and that he can be expected to be a critical part of this team improving this year. That 'general feeling' that a lot of posters have is what I was responding to. Why do so many people take general statements as personal attacks to their point of view on this board when I am not even reacting directly to any of them??

I haven't been to a game in a while, but Sabre Dance should be played all the time when the team enters the ice. As far as the goal song, pick something different, almost ANYTHING different. The current song I disliked when they picked it....and it has gotten worse because yes, it is played when a goal is scored but it is very little but a reminder of this entire awful era of the Sabres during the years it was used. No offense to anyone who likes it as a goal song...but please, remove it from use, burn any physical or digital copy of it you have, and never speak of that song again around the Arena.
