  1. If the old guard doesn’t like it, they probably shouldn’t have created the system. It wasn’t 12 year olds spending thousands of dollars and hours to get a chance at a scholarship. I just read an article in the athletic interviewing top NCAA football recruits and almost to a t everyone one of them said they had no idea of their NIL arrangements but guess who did most of their legwork? Their parents or the agents their parents hired.
  2. Did Thompson used to be really good at hockey? He wasn’t a top player for the USNTDP. He wasn’t a top player in college. He has spent most of his pro career looking lost. He’s had a couple of good seasons now, but his consistency and effort isn’t always there. I know I’m far from the only one who wondered how they were so wrong about Tage breaking out. What’s to say that wasn’t a blip?
  3. Just checked the score. Guess I can go back to watching games now.
  4. Wasn’t there a poster who used this as their photo for a while?
  5. The Sabres are now 2-0 when I have the opportunity to watch but choose not to. Heres to 3-0 tonight!
  6. This season doesn’t exist in a vacuum
  7. I went to that game. All 30 people in attendance got a kick out of it.
  8. It doesn’t help there’s probably only a handful of 18-28 year old Sabres fans
  9. Geez no wonder the quality of the board has gone down—none of your eyes works! 32 years old here.
  10. Making the playoffs in a league where 50% of the teams make it isn’t high expectations. The bold is Kevyn Adams’ mindset. I hope none of our players think expecting the playoffs is a high expectation. That’s such a loser mentality.
  11. I didn’t watch last game and they won so I’ll try that strategy again
  12. Ryan Johnson. Where is he? I don’t know. I don’t know.
  13. I think the proper way to express that would be something like “I’d watch, but without KO playing—why bother? He’s our hottest goal scorer.” There’s probably some grammatical rule that says you can’t do this, but in the above example you might even be able to replace the question mark with a semi-colon since they are two separate but related thoughts.
  14. One of many who we’ve lost along the way. Not as good as a storm off as some, but the effort was there. On further review it looks like Buffnill sealed the deal. He’s gotta have a high body count by now, but I’ve come around.
  15. This hit too close to home with my 10 month, 3 day, 3 hours and 42 minute year old.
  16. I started reading Capital in the 21st Century this week and I think I’ll probably continue to read that over watching this. It’s certainly more stimulating.
  17. Peacock has all of the old royal rumbles and wrestle manias. It’s amazing.
  18. I lurked in the woods for many of years before the sun hit my face. You guys are a scary bunch, I started reading around 2006.
  19. Tyler Myers won a Calder before succumbing to Marfans. Put some respect on his name /s
  20. I convoluted your point a bit, but to me the difference in pre-9/11 kids and post-9/11 kids is a large factor in our upbringings. That age/generation difference was at the forefront in most interactions. For the record I don’t disagree with you, I just wanted to further clarify.
  21. I went into the army after high school, so by the time I was playing hockey in college I was at least five years older than most the guys, if not more. The difference in age was 100% completely inconsequential. As was the fact that I came from a significantly different background than the rest of the team. But I wore a letter and when I had something to say people listened, whether I yelled it or not. Some people command a room and demand respect and others don’t. I think our issue has been we don’t have anyone who has those things. You’re telling me if McDavid blows up on a 1-3 year player they won’t listen to him? I will agree that there’s a difference now between respect given and respect earned, but this isn’t the Eichel team anymore.
  22. But he’s taaaaalllllllll. Chara was tall are you saying he wasn’t physical?
  23. Like I said, a 21 year old needs to earn his respect, it’s not given because of size. Size is implied by the comment I addressed below and the sentence that follows the bold. There’s nothing in my comment (or your comment) about skill or ability. It’s a direct response to your sentence “At his size he should scare the offense from coming near him but he's just the opposite: they don't mind engaging with him because they know they'll win the engagement. A guy that size shouldn't be wagging his stick at you from 7ft away. He plays with zero aggression which stands out like a lighthouse on a crag during a stormy night.” If your comment was about skill and ability, I guess my reading comprehension simply isn’t there. See, it’s right there how you get respect at 21. Go claim it. Thanks for implying that my education wasn’t good enough for your crazy big-brained, high-brow concepts. Your mastery of logically fallacies is second only to Aristotle.
  24. If you’re implying anyone in the NHL is afraid of Cozens or Krebs then I very much disagree with that.
