  1. Nobody should feel better about Terrys involvement in the franchise after this.
  2. If there was a “I probably agree with this” emoji I would give it to you.
  3. He was maybe the third or fourth best option available.
  4. I will be SHOCKED if another former Sabre isn’t brought in to be the coach in waiting.
  5. “When you think of the Buffalo Sabres, you know, such a huge part of that is Lindy Ruff. You know, obviously we knew he was available at the end of the season and then when we moved on from Donnie that was one of the first calls I made. We know what he brings to this organization and we’re confident he’s the man to lead this team back to the playoffs.” -Kevyn, probably.
  6. Well at least we know the PR is going to be off the charts after his opening press conference. There will be lots of talk about pride and the crest and what it means to be a Buffalo Sabre.
  7. This is the most predictable franchise out there. What a ***** joke.
  8. There’s a lot of missing posters these days unfortunately.
  9. There wasn’t a thread on it so I didn’t bring it up, but naive is a good word for it, definitely. He was way out of his league.
  10. Just noticed Matt Rempe scored today. Wonder if his teammates hate him yet lol
  11. I panned the Roy hire pretty hard, but so far it’s worked I guess. Ill see if he has long term success before I admit I was too wrong.
  12. Granato was never some “development” coach. He was the Craig Patrick of the USNTDP, working in a role with already ultra-talented, NHL caliber prospects.
  13. My guess is we will continue to see venue size shrink, suite and premier seats increase, sportsbooks taking root in stadiums and arenas, sales and relocations involving private equity money outpacing any realistic forecast of worth, and more and more fans telling you how it’s better to just watch at home in front of their 70” screens.
  14. My rough math for worst case scenarios based on purchase price and estimated current value is a tax bill of $920M on a profit of $2.3B. Selling 25% at the same prices nets a tax bill of $550M. The below article details our tax implications for owning sports franchises. I think it’s safe to say nobody needs to feel any sympathy for the Pegula’s tax bills. https://minnesotareformer.com/2021/07/15/the-billionaire-playbook-how-sports-owners-use-their-teams-to-avoid-millions-in-taxes/
  15. I don’t know if you meant this to be funny but I laughed
  16. I recommend everyone read Capital in the 21st Century. It really changed my perspective on estate tax.
  17. I could be mistaken on this but hasn’t Terry been vocal about bringing private equity into the NFL?
  18. That’s great for Jon Cooper, I love his story. Terry already spent multiple hires trying to look like a genius and hire the next big thing. It didn’t work with Housley. It didn’t work with Krueger. It didn’t work with Granato. Everyone wants the next big thing. We don’t have the luxury of that want anymore.
  19. Good post all around, but this especially. Those interviews made it plenty clear he brought little to nothing to the table.
  20. There was never any reason to bring keep Zemgus and I hope to god he’s gone. He’ll be out of the league in two years just like Larsson was.
  21. I believe I saw this will all continue under the roadrunners branding
  22. Yeah who is he, Zemgus Girgensons?! /s Prove it deals are cheap, not an extra $1m+ per season.
  23. I don’t believe the rumor whatsoever but I would 100% roll the dice over a relocation that is almost certainly never going to happen to get a new owner.
  24. Do it, Terry. No balls.
