Or, conversely, Stamkos has been underpaid his whole career and has won plenty. Made he’s willing to cash in on a check close to home and get us over the hump. Overpay for Ehlers. Sign Stamkos. $15.5m between ‘em. Couldn’t care less if no extension is in place. Top 6—Tuch, Thompson, Stamkos, Ehlers, Cozens, Quinn Bottom 6—Benson, JJP, new guy from the Caps, Greenway, signing, signing, Krebs. Hit on one of those two bottom 6 signings and that’s a playoff group at forward. Plenty of $ for a Roy on D too.

We should be looking to sign Stamkos to a two year deal that’s undoubtedly an overpayment. He’s not going to be a 40/40 guy here, but we need his legitimacy in the locker room and this fanbase needs something to rally behind. The Athletic gave his projection at 3x6. Offer him 2x9. Win and he’ll finish out his career here.

Over the course of ten plus years, Jeff Skinner has gone from one of least favorite players in the entire league to being my “favorite” Sabre. I get why people are ready to move on, but for me the ride has taught me a lot about change and growth. All the best to him. It took me over a season to christen a “favorite” player after Reinhart left. It will probably take me a similarly long amount of time this go around. If Krebs puts up 40 points this year, something tells me it’ll be him. I think he’s going to have at least a Paul Byron-esq career, but I doubt his first good year is here.

I think it’s a massive mistake if Cozens, JJP, and Quinn are all in the top 6. It just feels so unnecessary to me. They’re all fine players, but they aren’t carry a team fine.
