  1. http://www.tsn.ca/radio/montreal-690/mcguire-drouin-is-best-in-a-complimentary-role-1.849141starts @ 17:50 Pierre McGuire talks about Tavares and the possibility of him coming to Buffalo. Not a lot really there, just saying he would probably go to Buffalo over Montreal.
  2. Sorry, for whatever reason I haven't been able to access the forum with any regularity. I've been getting either 501 errors or timing out about 8/10 tries on getting on. Not sure if anyone else has been having issue, but it's been pretty sporadic the past week
  3. Aren't there usually two fantasy hockey leagues anyway? People can then use this as their rankings if they so choose.
  4. It also seems like it should be a this-year-only ranking. In other words, not what player you would most want to build around or who will be the best over the next x amount of years. Either way I'm in if it's not full.
  5. Ovechkin has 90 points in 97 playoff games and has carried countless Capitals teams to the playoffs where they are exposed as frauds due to a poorly made roster, not Ovi. He has had two bad series over nine playoff appearances.
  6. Maybe he wanted to play in Buffalo and he knew a poor combine would drop him to us in the draft /s
  7. Aren't you on the Possler boat? If so, shouldn't you be much less pessimistic about the size of a draftee? Possler fell because he was small, then he grew and became a solid prospect
  8. Thanks for this, it's very informative
  9. Jbot knows that getting Mogilny is the key to getting Ovechkin, that's why he brought in Housley
  10. It's something I'll never understand. I have always preferred to see the different colors teams use for their jerseys, and I would think that, since most people I have talked to feel that way, the NHL would want to go this route due to the possibility of more non-market jersey sales. I'm pretty sure I've never bought a white non-Sabres jersey and don't think I ever would.
  11. Great read about a terrible day. The frustration you must have felt after such a cowardly attack is immeasurable. Oz sounds like a great man. Everyone I've known who went from Marines to Army were among the happiest and most eager in the face of adversity. I've gotta say, stories like this make me feel fortunate to have spent all of my time in the Northeast. They've got their issues there, but at least the weather is nicer and attacks like yours weren't common. Thank you for sharing. I went ahead and listened to the song; It certainly felt appropriate for the circumstances and must have been incredibly moving at the funeral. While there's nothing that can make up for those lost moments or erase those feelings of sadness, I have found that remembering that proudness you possess after having those feelings always leaves me with a slight smile.
  12. For the unaware, today is Memorial Day. The day has come to signify the start of Summer and is usually celebrated with BBQs and campouts (I'm about to fire up the grill myself), but it is important to remember what the day's true intention is: to remember the fallen. Regardless of where a person falls on the political spectrum or if they have supported any of the wars during their lifetime, they should be able to acknowledge that the men and women who have died fighting for their freedoms, beliefs, and country have paid a sacrifice that is both honorable and courageous. With that being said, I ask that you take a moment today to remember those who have lost their lives in the name of the United States of America. To those of you who have lost a relative or friend to war, I truly am deeply sorry for your loss. The courage it takes to preserver after the loss of a family member is one that I could never truly understand. However, I have witnessed this courage on too many occasions and would like to add that this aspect is not lost on me. Not only are you also in my thoughts today, but you also have my utmost respect. To those of you who have lost someone they served with, remember them today in their finest honor and revel in their memory. Be proud to have known such a warrior and even more proud to have served along side them. If you need someone to talk to today, or any day, feel free to message me. If you feel like you're struggling to properly make use of the day, consider the impact the men behind the following initials had on the people around them, the love they possessed for their families, the courage they showed in combat, and the loss to the world with them no longer on earth: CH, TS, RS, JM, JS, MD, APT, JJ, GG
  13. I'd be more concerned about Possler than I would Estephan
  14. I'd be all over that too. #BBtG
  15. 3 on Pittsburg and 1 on Nashville according to hockey reference
  16. Haven't the Leafs been waiting five years every year since 1967?
  17. Absolutely, however, my understanding is that all 30 GMs (or is it owners?) have to approve his return to the NHL. If you're a team in our division and you hear that Kovalchuk is potentially returning and will be playing against you, why wouldn't you just veto the return?
  18. Yes, he signed a two year deal last season with Frölunda HC Edit: Or did you mean the Sabres?
  19. The Kings didn't lack depth scorers, they lacked offensive talent. Carter and Kopitar can't carry the entire load, which is what they're expected to do with Gaborik, Brown, Toffoli, and Pearson as their wingers. There's maybe one top six forward in that group on a playoff team. Two of those guys (Gaborik/Brown) are on terrible contracts. Lombardi has given the franchise the depth players they need to compete, but the bad contracts and play of Gaborik and Brown has prevented them from getting a stronger top six and forced their bottom six up. Edit: Others have said it, but I'll say it again anyway. If O'Reilly (or whomever) leads us to two cups on their current contract, including the final year of the contract, I'd be fine straddled with his contract until he retires, just like the Kings are. Gaborik has a completely inexcusable contract though. But hey, he's got a ring and the Kings have a second cup so whatever.
  20. Have we already given up on Swedish Stamkos? Looks like he's 5'11" now and still playing really well. He'll be 22 in July and according to this http://www.dobberprospects.com/victor-olofsson-2/he had a pretty good regular season and post season, with 12 points in 13 playoff games. Maybe Modo knows a little more about how he looked this year.
  21. I mentioned in my last post I don't care about lack of bobbleheads, but I feel like having 80 bobbleheads of different Sabres throughout the years would be preferred to a discount at the Sabre store. Besides, how many STH go to the team store unless they are with someone who doesn't normally go to hockey games. I'm sure the discount would be more valuable, but I'm sure the Sabres are saving a whole lot of money by giving out a seldom used discount instead of a "less valuable" bobblehead.
  22. My dad has been a season ticket holder for over twenty years. When he hit the ten year mark, he expected something small, some sort of card or thank you note. Needless to say, no such acknowledgment happened. When he hit 15 years and 20 years, he still thought maybe they'd send him a thank you card or show his name on the jumbotron acknowledging it. Nothing. Not since Rigas owned the team have they cared one bit about the fans. I've got great memories growing up and going to STH skates at the rink, meeting every single Sabre on the team (including waiting in the longest line in history to meet Hasek), playing bubble hockey with Satan and Stu Barnes, hanging out with Geoff Sanderson, and watching the team race RC cars around the rink. It's too bad the younger fans now will never get to experience that. I'm not upset about not having a single bobblehead or any cool collectables from the team. What bothers me is the complete lack of appreciation they have for people who spend their hard earned money year in, and year out. They wouldn't give two shits if a STH cancelled their package, they'd simply call the next person on the waiting list and take their money and run. The past few seasons I've had to talk my dad into keeping his tickets. He's down from going to 20 games a year to less than 5. Every game he goes to they seem to lose, and every season they raise the price on him. I wouldn't want to go either.
  23. Is it out of the realm of possibilities that Okposo has highlypaidgoalscorerwithnagginginjuriesnotwantingtogetfutherhurtandneitherdoeshisgmitous?
  24. 1.) Assuming McDavid is healthy all year, playoffs 2.) Playoffs 3.) No difference, still have Bylsma 4.) No, we would just re-sign him. There would be little debate. He seemed hampered all year due to the door incident. 5.) Of course 6.) I forgot about it. Only time I remember is if I see him in a highlight. Seems like he's gotten in a few scraps this year. 7.) Possibly? If we add some defense, Jack doesn't lose his mind, and we stay healthy we should be in even with Bylsma. That being said, I wouldn't bet on it unless he were fired.
