  1. You’re right, I misread your post as “what other option do they have other than increase revenue?” I thought you were talking in terms of profitability, which should be the focus of the league right now. Making money will be the easiest way to bring investors and expand. The opposite of the WNBA strategy basically. They haven’t ever turned a profit and don’t attract much outside investors beyond the NBA.
  2. Decrease expenses. It seems like the priority should be finding appropriate sized arenas and stadiums to lower operating costs. WNBA had major issues with arena sizes, women’s hockey can’t make the same mistake to thrive. It’s better to expand into larger arenas and longer schedules than to move to smaller arenas and have to cut games.
  3. I was also going to recommend Audio Technica. I started with the LP60 and I felt like that was a good starter table for me. A few years ago I upgraded to a U-Turn, which I would highly recommend, but not as a starter as it doesn’t have a built-in pre-amp or an auto-drop/return needle.
  4. Isn’t that a pretty substantial increase in games? If money is an issue, how is playing more games the solution? Aren’t operating costs a back-breaker for women’s leagues in general?
  5. That seems like an awful lot for a 27 year old 40-50 point guy. Like about a million too much. Bad news for Buffalo and Skinner?
  6. If you make a thread here I’ll post in it. In the process of moving right now so the table isn’t getting much use, but hopefully that won’t be the case long.
  7. I’m sorry you have to go through ***** like this. Not only are those individuals ignorant of the Sikh religion, they are clearly ignorant of Muslims as well. I’d join you on your cloud of reefer smoke for a game any day of the week.
  8. Every time I see WIN I think of the hockey writer (Custance maybe) who seemingly purposefully uses incorrect team abbreviations in his tweets.
  9. McAvoy is going to be a helluva player to add to that core as well. As for that trade, at first I thought it was a no-brainer. I looked into it and thought about it some more and I still make it, but it’s closer than one would think. Like you said, he’s been injured a bit the past two seasons and I think his offensive numbers are inflated beyond what should be expected (Pasta and Marchand certainly help), but he fills a major need both on and off the ice and is still a great talent.
  10. I know it isn’t solely Bergeron, but, man, is he a special player.
  11. Someone should get that boy a viola. Seems to me that classical music helps him with his autism.
  12. Biz has been talking about rust all playoffs long on spittin’ chicklets. I don’t want to misquote the statistic, but teams who played seven games and then went on to face a team that swept fair much better than the team that swept. Granted the Blues only went six, but it’s a real long break for Boston and no doubt they’ve lost some rhythm. Though it’s a long wait for the Blues too so who knows.
  13. I would much prefer this to be the case rather than it was because of his locker clean-out comments. I think people would be hard pressed to find a professional who at some point felt they were losing the love for what they do because they had a ***** boss, a crummy project, personal situations, etc. What makes a person a professional is putting their nose down and handling their business to their best capacity anyway, which is exactly what ROR did. To me, people who wanted him gone for that reason are holding themselves to much lower standards than those around them. Not to mention those people also probably bitch about vanilla hockey player quotes and non-stop cliche. My preferred option would be the Pegulas didn’t want to have someone with a drunk driving incident on their team. With any luck they’ll confirm this someday by pulling #2 from the rafters.
  14. Except every time they win it fuels the hatred even more. I’d rather feel hatred towards a rival than disappointed over yet another team coming into yet another league and winning a championship before my teams do.
  15. Part of it comes from a baseball mindset. It’s my favorite sport and what I follow most closely. I’ll be damned if some dirty American League team wins the WS, so I always pull for the National League. If I’m going to pull for a home league/conference, why not extrapolate that all the way to division (though I couldn’t stomach an NLE win right now, less the Nats). What’s good enough for one sport is good enough for the other. I’d rather Boston win the next ten cups than ten teams without cups (since 1970 to include the leafs) win one. Maybe I’m petty. Maybe it’s a bit of schadenfreude. But so long as my teams aren’t winning, let those with wins keep winning.
  16. I hate the Bruins and I don’t hate the Blues so naturally I’m rooting for the Bruins. Not only does it bring the cup to the division, but I’ll always take a repeat winner over a new one until Buffalo wins. Same reason I find myself wanting the Pats to win the super bowl.
  17. Let the record show I dissent.
  18. We haven’t actually landed on RaKru as the official nickname, have we? It’s pretty terrible.
  19. The 41st home game is in Sweden, correct?
  20. Not to mention the depth of their defense. Five of their top six could be on our top pair.
  21. I don’t think this is the case at all. There’s plenty of posters that wanted a long term deal and had strong suspicions of the player Sam would become/was.
  22. The biggest issue with Let Me Clear My Throat is they picked the wrong time stamp.
  23. I would be interested in seeing the overlap between the trade ROR and trade Risto camps and vice-versa
  24. I would love to go back to song 2
  25. That was literally laugh-out-loud bad
