An AHL goalie took them to the playoffs. I’ll put my faith in that guy to coach our goalies.
-
The same can be said for Skinner hitting 40 goals, Eichel topping 90+ points, and Reinhart hitting 70 points.

Teammates get sick of him not paying up after cards on the plane?

Very few 21 year old defensemen even play in the NHL, yet alone get 25 minutes a night. We’re going to trade Risto, he’s going to slot in somewhere on their top-4 and be a stud. Everyone is going to ask “why didn’t he do that here” and bad mouth him. People expecting Montour to have more success on the top pairing than Risto are, in my mind, delusional. They’re both 3/4 guys who don’t play great defense. The only return I would be happy with is something like liger said where we get Foote, Miller and Callahan (boooo) in return.

GDT SC Final Game 7: St.Louis Blues @ Boston Bruins, 8:00pm EDT

This should be true of every athlete in every sport in every championship elimination game. I’m sure damn near every player is thinking that to themselves. If Josh Allen said before the Super Bowl “this needs to be the best game I’ve ever played,” wouldn’t the response be “no *****, Sherlock?” -
I would see it a little different if he didn’t have international experience, but for the majority of his hockey career his greatest rival was the country of Canada. I’m sure he’s faced plenty of vitriol that he could cite that fuels that take. I can see how it would rub the wrong way though.
-
I would assume most of Canada wants the Raptors to win. I would also hope that every American hockey player loves nothing more than to perpetually anger Canadians. Jack represents the United States in hockey, who will always play second fiddle to Canada. Why just hate Toronto when you can hate them all? I’ve got no issue with it. Not to mention anyone familiar with barstool knows everything is over-the-top.

I believe he meant both in the short term and long term

I don’t like the idea of Olofsson and Skinner on the same line. I think Victor has the potential to be a greater playmaker, but I think his money will be made putting the biscuit in the basket. Skinner played great with Jack, but if he’s truly a $9m player he can slot into the 2nd line and PP1 and produce the same results. I think Olofsson with Jack has the potential to score a similar amount of EV goals as Jack with Skinner. I don’t think the same can be said with Victor with 2C and Skinner with 2C. Either way, Skinner is PP1. Would like to see: x-Eichel-Olofsson Skinner-x-Reinhart Sheary-Mitts-Thompson (55%+ offense zone draws) Nylander (hard maybe)-Rodriguez-Okposo Too ignorant to name D pairings. Would be talking out of my ass to try. Don’t mind your projections, but they could certainly be improved with better players.
-
Every time I question the deal I try to remind myself he scored 40 without a power play unit. With a middle of the road powerplay I think he hits 40 easy next year. Wouldn’t put my eggs in that basket with similar PP numbers though.

Olofsson plays on his off-wing (RW)

Thank you, happy to have done it. He didn’t tell them mid-project, he told them at the end that there were times during the season he struggled. His comments were clean out day, not during the season. If you were struggling during a project, would you say, on completion, man we really need to do something differently next time? RoR wasn’t the boss either. His boss was JBotts, who didn’t give him the needed support to excel in the project. Not to mention O’Reilly shouldered the burden all season, just like you said you had.
-
No. In that case I would use the job analogy, which I have on multiple occasions. You’ve never had a long, extended ***** project at a job you liked that made you question your decision? I know that happened plenty in the army for me.

My theory is Pegula/drunk driving related. I choose this theory to spare any ill-will towards any parties involved. I try to not hold hard feelings and this is the easiest route. Either way, not the thread for all this. Sorry for the derailment, all.

David Ortiz has been shot in the Dominican Republic. This type of thing happens far too often to Latin ballplayers and quite frankly it breaks my heart. I don’t believe he was targeted, but too often are Latin players are when they return home. I never liked him when he was playing but I’m hoping for a swift recovery.

Official: Skinner Signs 8 year, $72MM Extension
#freejame replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is something that I keep forgetting about. I have a hard time believing you’re wrong about this. I would think most (myself included) are underestimating exactly how huge this will be for hockey. TV contracts have exploded since the NHL signed the NBC deal. The fact that the rights expiring coincide with expansion is quite the coincidence. -
I don’t think he’s saying don’t play Binnington. Just that he would take other goalies over him in a game seven. I agree with both of your posts though. How on earth did you get that from anything I’ve ever said about the RoR trade? Yet alone any of the above posts. I don’t think I even mentioned JBotts name.
-
He just gave an interview with the athletic where, and I could be wrong about this because it was over a week ago that I read it, he said he didn’t request a trade and didn’t expect a trade. So I guess you would add liar on top of the other complaints about RoR. And if he did quit, RoR going through the motions was still the best player over the course of every season he played with the Sabres*. *Jack injuries taken into account. Do you think he’s nervous now?
-
Just for clarification, you aren’t holding Ryan accountable for Cals action, correct? You’re saying that played into Pegula’s decision. Anyway, I thought people were constantly on his “woe is me attitude” after games and how he would place too much burden on himself? I thought he was always pretty candid with how he was feeling.

@LGR4GM @jame Let me preface this by saying this is one of the stupidest things I’ve asked, but are there any players in the draft who seem to have as much fun out there as Marner? Just saw his Matthews commercial and on top of all the other stuff I’ve seen, read, and know about him it seems like he enjoys the game and spreads his joy for the game more than damn near anyone else in hockey. I’d love a guy with that sort of positive charisma on the Sabres.
-
I’ve got a really hard time believing Boston loses this series at home in game seven. I really hope they win so St. Louis can be irrationally angry at a newspaper and an online store.
-
O’Reilly never quit on the Sabres. This is a narrative that needs to stop. You can fall out of love with something you love during trying times, that doesn’t make you a quitter. I’ve used job analogies in the past, but here’s another one—imagine being in love with a significant other. Let’s say they cheat on you. You might question your love of the person. But you realize you’ve spent a significant portion of your life loving that person and don’t want to quit on the relationship. You question your love of the person, but you keep trying to rebuild a strong relationship. Sometimes I think people believe athletes aren’t real people with real emotions. Let’s all just go back to cliche and bitching about cookie cutter answers so this never happens again.
-
It’s so hard not to dwell on the O’Reilly deal. He’s one hell of a player. I’ve said it before, but I really hope it was a Pegula directive to move him. I know others don’t like “meddling,” but I don’t take issue with an owner of a business taking issue with out-of-office behavior and taking the necessary action, regardless of how much it stings. Milbury was right in calling him a superstar. He’s been top three at his role in the NHL for years now.

He must get it from his father
