They didn’t drag their feet—they badly mismanaged every aspect of implementing. Whether it be contaminating samples or restricting access to only CDC manufactured testing material, that’s on the executive branch. Trump is not responsible for one individual within the CDC screwing up testing, the CDC and individual are responsible. Whether Trump is responsible for limiting private testing sources I’m not sure*. South Korea used private industry to manufacture tests and only quarantined the high risk to limit economic impact. They’ve handled this the best, and their two greatest strengths have come from a government who understands the government isn’t always the best solution. Instead we’ve got states calling for martial law. https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN2153BW

That’s what I saying though—it’s not Trump who is responsible for the decline. We’ve got the 79th highest level of population density and the largest economy. There’s swathes of the country significantly less affected by others. The actions that have been taken are already crippling the economy, and if said actions were taken when the first case was reported things would only be worse. States have health agencies that were not prepared. That falls on State level governments. They should be the first responders. The CDC was very ineffective, and Trump is partially responsible for that. But the CDC was going to mess this up regardless of who is in office.

I mean, we’re a federalist country. If people want to say executive agencies badly botched this then that’s fine, but the executive agencies would have botched it no matter who was in office because of the nature of bureaucracy in the United States. Could Trump act more like Cuomo? Sure. But exactly how responsible Trump is for the errors made by the CDC is greatly up for debate, which is exactly why executive agencies across the board widely need to their powers curtailed because they operate far too independently of the electorate and the executive.

You must not have a lot of “vase” cleaning to do at home.

Updated: Pegulas and arena/hospitality workers

Aren’t these employees technically being fired? I’ve never heard of PTO being paid to laid-off workers. I would also imagine there are numerous unemployment restrictions guiding their actions. -

What does Terry have to do with other events held at HSBC? I didn’t think that he owned the building. -
I did too, exact symptoms as above for length of time. More than half my office of 150 people missed time at some point with it.

This is the exact reason why escrow exists, right?

It was merged into one of his other posts but it was moderated

I watched a documentary last night called Outbreak and I really think we should be a little concerned about our government.

@Neo I would imagine if Mrs. Neo works for a public school that the janitors are employed by the city and will still be paid.

Salaried versus hourly. Those people aren’t working. I see no reason to pay them. This is exactly why the hysteria is bad.

Why aren’t you jumping in any of them? Gravity too strong in Cuba? @Wyldnwoody44

A seven team lottery would be cool.

Yes, and there’s plenty of research showing it has detrimental impacts on development. Some homework is fine, sure. But state mandated independent or online learning for a 7 year old is pretty outlandish to me. Most certainly not in its current form. Our education system and processes are a joke. I encourage everyone to read Leaving to Learn, as well as Creative Schools. If anyone wants something heavier, Market Education by Andrew Coulson goes into a little bit, as does Free to Choose by Milton Friedman. Coulson also has a documentary called School, Inc.

The measures that would be necessary to have an Italian style shutdown would likely require suspending Habeas Corpus. The same people who would be in favor of restrictions would flip a ***** if Martial Law were invoked. Which is my issue. People want measures put in place similar to Europe but don’t realize the consequences of those under our constitution.

@Eleven I’m hoping you can give me your opinion on a question regarding constitutionality of travel bans under the Privileges and Immunities clause. Constitutionally speaking, individual states are allowed to invoke travel bans for reasons of public health and safety. However, my question is if the government were to attempt to implement a travel ban restricting interstate travel, there is no way that could be held up in court right? My understanding is this would require either an amendment or Martial Law. For those not as versed in the constitution, the relevant portion of Article 1, Section 9 reads “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.” I couldn’t find too much on the meaning of Invasion the public Safety, but looking through historical cases on Martial Law, it looks like this would apply to this instance. Any insight you could provide would be much appreciated. I’m not concerned about the prospect of Martial Law, but I spoke with many people at work today who did not know of their right to the freedom of movement and was hoping to be able to better understand if it is something that may actually become restricted.

I was also going to recommend index/mutual funds through vanguard as well. It’s always easier to bet on the market than bet on individual companies.

Pretty sure we set the record for most 20 goal scorers and most 10+ goal scorers. ***

If we had free market healthcare you would be able to get the drug (and see how much it would cost you at different facilities). We have nothing close to a free market system in place. What we have is cronyism between insurance providers, health care administrators, and politicians.

More than anything I am asking for clarification—I believe I read that those with a compromised immune system do not benefit from wearing masks and that masks only help anything if you are infected. Can anyone confirm or deny?
