A seven team lottery would be cool.

Yes, and there’s plenty of research showing it has detrimental impacts on development. Some homework is fine, sure. But state mandated independent or online learning for a 7 year old is pretty outlandish to me. Most certainly not in its current form. Our education system and processes are a joke. I encourage everyone to read Leaving to Learn, as well as Creative Schools. If anyone wants something heavier, Market Education by Andrew Coulson goes into a little bit, as does Free to Choose by Milton Friedman. Coulson also has a documentary called School, Inc.

The measures that would be necessary to have an Italian style shutdown would likely require suspending Habeas Corpus. The same people who would be in favor of restrictions would flip a ***** if Martial Law were invoked. Which is my issue. People want measures put in place similar to Europe but don’t realize the consequences of those under our constitution.

@Eleven I’m hoping you can give me your opinion on a question regarding constitutionality of travel bans under the Privileges and Immunities clause. Constitutionally speaking, individual states are allowed to invoke travel bans for reasons of public health and safety. However, my question is if the government were to attempt to implement a travel ban restricting interstate travel, there is no way that could be held up in court right? My understanding is this would require either an amendment or Martial Law. For those not as versed in the constitution, the relevant portion of Article 1, Section 9 reads “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.” I couldn’t find too much on the meaning of Invasion the public Safety, but looking through historical cases on Martial Law, it looks like this would apply to this instance. Any insight you could provide would be much appreciated. I’m not concerned about the prospect of Martial Law, but I spoke with many people at work today who did not know of their right to the freedom of movement and was hoping to be able to better understand if it is something that may actually become restricted.

I was also going to recommend index/mutual funds through vanguard as well. It’s always easier to bet on the market than bet on individual companies.

Pretty sure we set the record for most 20 goal scorers and most 10+ goal scorers. ***

If we had free market healthcare you would be able to get the drug (and see how much it would cost you at different facilities). We have nothing close to a free market system in place. What we have is cronyism between insurance providers, health care administrators, and politicians.

More than anything I am asking for clarification—I believe I read that those with a compromised immune system do not benefit from wearing masks and that masks only help anything if you are infected. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I think the bottom six should look something like this: MoJo-Cozens-Kahun Lazar-Asplund-Okposo its up to whomever the gm is to fill 2C and 2RW. It’ll be the difference between playoffs and frustration once again.

NBA Season Suspended - Can the NHL Be Far Behind?

Yeah I saw that. It was an awkward chuckle but I chuckled nonetheless. He probably feels like the worlds largest jackass now. -

Yeah I was thinking something along these lines. If you have a chance to qualify you get to play catch up but everything else is cancelled. -

To me this doesn’t sound positive. I bet they want to have a plan in place for the playoffs and rest of the season before cancelling. Or maybe inform teams last game will be X date. -

See now this is different. There is an infected player. To continue games puts the rest of the players at risk. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole league gets tested within the next 24 hours. -
You’ve only left Philly on like...six occasions.

I didn’t mean to be condescending either, sorry if I came off that way. I’m just a little tired of being told to practice basic hygiene everywhere (not that you were). There was a giant billboard about washing your hands on my drive to work today. It just seems...sad? We should be doing all that at this point in civilization.
-
Most of that is stuff you, and everyone else, should always be doing anyway.

It’s not that I don’t trust the medical community; I’m sure it’s very bad. But I’m concerned that the economic impact of this approach is going to negatively impact more people in equally as bad ways. The people suffering the most economically during quarantines and closures are low income workers and those in positions who don’t have the option to work from home if the building is down. There’s more to it than that but this isn’t the thread, nor does that thread exist. I will say this: I had swine flu in ‘09. That was immediately followed by bronchitis and then pneumonia, which I caught again 11 months later and lost 15 pounds in a little over a week. I understand how these things go beyond just the flu itself and how detrimental they can be to the person who gets it. I just think that right now, we’re going to cause a lot more suffering than the situation presently dictates.

Trade: Erod and Sheary traded to Pittsburgh for C/LW Dominik Kahun

This is overly relevant but I went and looked up Hecht’s stats and then got to thinking about how many 40 point scorers the 2005-06 team had. 11 players between 40-73 points. This team has 40 between 40-78. -
This is sheer lunacy to me.

I don’t have any interest in Hall either and don’t think it makes much sense. I just think JBott is going to make a run for him and if that happens, it’s going to be a massive overpayment.
-
Olofsson has played RW overseas and played the right side on the PP. Plenty of goal scorers play off-wing, it’s easier to get shots off in the zone and the only real change is it’s more difficult to keep the puck in. I think JBott targets him because he’s desperate, he has cap space, and needs to make a big move in a really ***** FA class. I don’t think it’s smart to do, but I think if he’s at the helm he’s looking to make a splash and that’s the only splash out there.
-
Im convinced that if JBott stays he makes a huge run for Hall and it dramatically backfires. I want nothing to do with him at the contract cost. With that he would have to move VO to RW (not a big deal for a shooter), but would leave us with a 2C hole and not enough cap to fix the third line.

At least he has played goaltender in his youth. Before becoming a hall of fame baseball player he tried out several times for junior teams across Canada. But I’m with you on that, I hope we don’t see it.
