Just think about all of the fun TBL moves we can do with LTIR once we’re good though! -

What kind of topsy-turvy world are we living in where the two of you are agreeing with each other?

Is There a Path Forward for Eichel and the Sabres?

It depends on if you’re smoking joints and blunts. My understanding is if all things are equal in terms of worse for you it goes blunts, cigarettes, joints. -

43.2% of the military are classified as weekly binge drinkers and of those, 70% are classified as heavy drinkers. Having fallen in the latter category for a significant amount of time, I’m comfortable saying this person knows very little about alcoholism. The lifestyle and stress of the military is probably much closer to a professional athlete than whatever the majority of people here do. I am very comfortable making the claims I have made today about drug and alcohol use among NHL players. Especially when you consider that anyone with half a brain knows that cannabis and cocaine are significantly less harmful than alcohol with very few ill effects. -

In the three years I played hockey at college 100% of the team had done drugs in the last 30 days, which is how the surveys are measured. Didn’t matter how much roster turnover we had. I asked my little brother how many on his high school team do drugs and he said at least 75%. Having talked to guys having played in the NAHL and lower level juniors, those numbers would hold accurate there as well. Drugs are ingrained in sport culture. And yes, I am including pot. I would guess 10-15% of players above the high school level have done cocaine in the last 30 days as well. I would also imagine very few of them would consider cocaine a hard drug. -

I would bet dollars to donuts that 75% of non-married NHL players are getting after it with great regularity. Just like I would bet dollars to donuts on MLB and NFL and NBA players doing the same. Young people do drugs and imbibe. Even more so when you have the disposable income that they do. -

Sabres Trade Brandon Montour to Florida for 3rd Round Pick

We have only won one game against a playoff team and that was back in January. I am withholding all judgement on Granato and our increased level of play until we actual beat someone. -
Minus Ovi who will be a FA in name only, it’s going to be Landeskog and he will probably come in at 50-60m over 7 years. If he’s available and willing to sign you sign him. Every other FA I agree with.
-
Where have you been the last decade? We have been the punchline for years.
-
I just want to say that I predicted this entire season down to Hall and our position in the standings last April. Only difference is I had term and JBot making the signing.
-
3.75x3 is what I was anticipating his market price being. Five years at 3m isn’t a bad deal for either side. I wouldn’t have given 15m for him at the term I desired.
-
I agree with this, but there’s only one top six player I would want and that’s Landeskog and I really doubt he’s available. Even then that just settles the 2LW spot. I am far from convinced on our bottom-6, but we have six players on the roster today who could appropriately slot as third line players. Counting Girgs and KO, i don’t see a reason to search the bargain bin. Definitely wanted Laughton though, it’s disappointing he re-signed. I think if we take on a bad contract (someone smarter than me say who), we can get a player who is a competent NHL player who once adjusted is a legit top-6. It happens every season for someone. Why not us?
-
The Sabres should be at the cap because we will not be a playoff team and can get assets for bad contracts on expiring deals. By my count, we have no less than 6 holes going into next season. One of our biggest issues has been reaching on players to fill these holes and improper slotting. No team fills 6 holes in a season. Sign Laughton, lock up a starter (Ullmark/Grubauer), sign a strong #2 goalie (especially if we land Grubauer), take on a bad contract for someone breaking into the league, and play the young guys. We will be markedly improved over this season, our youngster can make strides, we can hit 85 points for the first time since 2011, and make the playoffs the next season with Quinn and our first from this season on the roster. People (not you) need to stop expecting 30+ point jumps in the standings and we need to rebuild like a real hockey team.

Oh yeah well my dad can beat up both of your dads at the same time!

The Avs cannot afford Grubauer and Landeskog, and I have a tough time imagining they part with Gabe. Grubauer will be the best option available and my guess is that if we re-sign Ullmark before the end of the season that Linus has a worse contract than him. -
Heaven forbid we grab another young d-man with upside for when one of ours is taken by Seattle.
