Jack: "Uh coach, we saw the posted lineup and some of us are wondering are you feeling ok, you have your meds under control?" Housley: "I'm fine Jack, thanks for asking. As fars the lineup these are the players I have to work with. Do you object?" Jack: "No but last year we kinda had some lines and power play sets and thought maybe that would be a good start." Housley: "And how did that work out for you and the team? Playoffs?" Jack: "No but it did give us our best chance at winning." Housley: "And what did you do with that chance?" Jack: "Not much." Housley: " Here's a thought for you and the guys. You are all pros. Some more talented than others but pros nonetheless. Why doesn't each man give his utmost professional effort and we will see how the chips fall." Jack: " Well we have been doing that and it just hasn't worked so good." Housley: "Actually Jack you haven't no one has. So let's see if we get your best tonight and ROR s best and Sam's best. That may inspire Girgs and Larry and Pommers to give their best." Jack: "But what if it doesn't work and we still lose?" Housley: "If everyone gives their best and we lose, it's not on you. You can't give more than your best. If it is not good enough then we were wrong about the people on this team. I don't think we were wrong. BTW, how is your Mom feeling heard she was under the weather?" I truly think it is as simple as this.- 524 replies

Bravo. Well done. You can rest up until the playoffs. You earned it. Isn't that why he is on PP1? #Meddling :P

And they are putting on a show.
-
Woah woah big fella, there is bitter reactionary venting and there is just plain crazy talk.
-
But by your logic, they should have kept Kessel, Dion et al and brought up Nylander, and kept Marner all season. Win at all costs right? Then they would have been the same team that was irrelevant for a decade plus. The only difference between us and them is they landed Babcock and we didn’t. He accelerated their rise exponentially.
-
Eichel. He stole it from Halak.
-
Actually they do. All 5 players involved in all zones. They contest every pass and aggressively press the puck carrier. No one standing still. It is what the Preds did without the star caliber blue line. They can’t match the preds blueline but they play fast.
-
Let me put it this way. What if ROR is not the true number 2 center but a great number one winger? He would be contributing and perhaps enjoying himself and helping the team. What if OK best days are behind him but would excel at softer minutes on the 3rd line with Pommers? They are all talented or they wouldn’t be in the league. But they have to want to sacrifice and do what it takes to win even if that means contributing innways they didn’t expect. And that goes for Jack. If I were Housley I would tape both hands to his stick to break that habit of thinking he is cutting off passing angles with his reach. His legs will threaten the puck carrier more than the threat of having the pass blocked. Close the gap, threaten the body. It will cause more turnovers and address the floating critique. I don’t know my expectations weren’t high but they were not this low either.
-
They are not broken. They are defective. Not fit for the purpose. Again not Bylsmas fault.
-
Housley said thatbtoday in his presser. Housley said today “every team is good and have a lot to play for “. And winning is hard in this league. Bylsma may have been a dullard but thisnis on the players especially those brought in to provide leadership like Oreilly and OK.
-
Well played.
-
This is a problem. Oreilly skates at the world championships level. You know when the good players are still in the SC playoffs. And even then he is moved to wing. The WCoH he made team Canada bc McJesus, Scheifle, McKinnon and Eberle had to play with team NA. He doesn't sniff otherwise. But we meep trying to beleive he is anything more than a talented winger with attention to detail. He is a passenger. Always was always will be. He can be very effective with a good center. But he is notba driver. I know True and others will come back with their possesion stats and charts, but if he was elite Colorado would never have let him go. He is a journeyman who we pay like a top 10 in the league player. And Okposo is a boat anchor. Nice guy gritty player but Moulson slow.
-
Any system, DD's Housley's Babcocks, are personnel dependent. We have major holes from guys with big contracts. And Sam and Jack are still on ELCs. Okposo is slow. ROR is average speed and does better in a controlled game environment. I think a more situation specific use of speed is in order. Until some additional bodies arrive we don't have the horses to run and gun.
-
so let's look at Bobblehead's guys: Josefson - Griffith Tennyson Blow You Scandella Johnson (he resigned him) Larsson (same) Girgs (same) Pomminvile (baggage required to get Scandella) Lehner (Resigned him) Murrays" guys: Kane Eichel O'Reilly Reihart Risto McCabe Bogo Moulson (have to be fair) Gorges (same) Lehner (again to be fair) This idea that Bobblehead upgraded the talent level is a fallacy. We just traded garbage for trash.
-
wow Risto blows.

is Jack playing?
