  1. I think I saw somewhere that his backup, Butera, is just as good defensively. It doesn't matter. Runner, SB, weak grounder to move him to 3rd, and this game has that feeling I'm so used to with my sports teams.
  2. The Royals are in d'Arnaud's head. They are running at will on him and he's actually been above average defensively this year.
  3. This is what the Royals have done well. Steals and little squibbers all over the place. They do anything to get on base and get in scoring position until something happens. They play small ball better than anyone I've seen since the Cardinals in the mid to late 80's. I disagree. The Mets can't win this series without Familia. My preference is that he goes in at the beginning of a fresh inning with a 2 run lead this time and hopefully gets a low pressure save to help his psyche. The alternative is what happened here, when he goes in a high pressure situation when his psyche is already extremely fragile. Even though the save was blown due to 2 weak grounders and a terrible throw by Duda, it's still a blown save. It's what the Royals do. He gives up some weak grounders with the bases empty and he's got a confidence-building save instead of another failure. Familia had a much better chance to regain his mojo in my first scenario.
  4. Collins has made quite a few mistakes. Started with the 1st Royals batter of the series. Cespedes should have never been playing CF in Kauffmann. And yes, I wanted Familia in to start the 9th tonight for several reasons. Familia screwed up Game 1, with Collins' help. Collins screwed up tonight. I don't see the logic in your first sentence above.
  5. Well we can agree to disagree on this. There is quite a large list of decisions/errors the Mets have made to put them in the position they're in. Yes the Royals have been scrappy and opportunistic, but this is all on the Mets imo.
  6. I call that a screw up by Familia. That blown save also laid the foundation for his other 2 blown saves imo. He had been lights out all postseason until that home run. The Mets win that game and this is a different series obviously but also psychologically for the Mets.
  7. I'm not taking anything away from the Royals. They've taken advantage of the many openings provided by the Mets. If not for those openings, the Mets are champions right now. Instead, it certainly feels like a loss tonight is inevitable. Even if the Mets somehow win, they've got to win 2 games in KC, which is highly improbable. Managerial decisions were not forced by the Royals style of play, and the Mets have made some key unforced errors. The Royals put the pressure on, but if the Mets make the easy plays and close out games, they have won the series by now.
  8. Yeah, thanks  They could have/should have been wrapping up the series just now if not for the stupid errors and decisions they've had.
  9. Well Familia sets the World Series record with his 3rd blown save. Granted the last 2 were a wildfire already when he entered. :wallbash: I have to tip my hat to the Royals. They are relentless. Any little opening and they're all over it. Oh and some horrible errors and decisions by the Mets have been the difference in an extremely close series so far.
  10. 2 blown late inning leads. Armando Benitez is alive and well! Could easily be 3-1 the other way. Also Cespedes has killed them hitting, fielding, and now base running. Murphy has completely stopped hitting and still can't field. Keep making stupid mistakes against this Royals team and it's killing them. I have no faith that they can win 3 in a row. The biggest reason is I don't think Familia can be counted on at this point to save a game successfully.
  11. Science based horror story for the Halloween season. What happens when you get bit by a venomous snake and don't and/or are unable to get it treated? http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/dying-hours-snake-biten-scientist-recorded-diary
  12. When was the last time we had a game where we looked this good? A few years at least.
  13. Don Mattingly has been hired to manage the Marlins.
  14. In comparison to the Republican debate, Bernie gave a great speech and took audience questions this evening in Fairfax, VA. Best I've seen from him so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOXe-5z6ClA
  15. Watching baseball, so I appreciate everyone's commentary.
  16. Interesting fact I read today is that the Mets have never won game 1 of the World Series. Now 0-5. They did win 2 of those previous 4 so I'm still optimistic. Now if Familia does more imitiations of Armando Benitez, then my optimism will quickly disappear. Overall, great start to the series. Should be close and competitive throughout.
  17. There's always that one exception! Unfortunately the rule has painfully held true otherwise.
  18. ! Off to bed. Should have known with my teams. I've stayed up late for the Bills, Sabres, Mets, Orange, Cavs and they all usually let me down in the end
  19. . Should have left Niese in. Leave Colon for the 18th, 19th, 20th, etc.
  20. Agree. I was hopeful at first that we got the better player, but McJesus has been incredible offensively lately. I think he's adjusted to the NHL now.
  21. I've never heard of "Paulo Orlando", but that's a porn name if I've ever heard one :w00t: On to the 14th! I'm good friends with my boss who is a Reds fan. I just texted him at 1:00 AM to tell him I may be worthless at work tomorrow. :w00t:
  22. That's fine. Everyone has their reasons. I'm usually anybody but the Yankees and then root for the underdog. I know you're a Yankees fan, so I can't blame you for favoring the Royals.
  23. These teams are so evenly matched. Shaping up to be a great series. Who are you rooting for?
  24. God, I haven't had this much stress over baseball in over a decade. 13th inning. This is gonna be a great series, but not great for my sleep.
