You know that feeling where you keep hoping that your sports teams are not boned despite mounting evidence as time goes on to the contrary? The Sabres and Bills are both boned! It all starts at the top, folks. :wallbash:

Depends on the time frame. We were told that an accelerated rebuild was the approach. Now that the (mostly disappointing) trades have been made, the assets spent, and the results disappointing, we're apparently being told rebuilding takes time. Which is it? Looks like it's revised in hindsight and self serving depending on what situation serves the organization best by getting fans to buy in longer. Murray in April 2014: "This is not going to be a five-year rebuild, not for me anyway. That's not what I want." "When you tear it down, it doesn't happen overnight," Murray said. "I want to rebuild here properly, which takes time. But it doesn't have to take years." Now almost 3 years later I seem to have a hard time finding any quotes of Murray giving any rebuild evaluation or time frame updates, but apparently this rebuild is taking years and if some around here are correct, 5 years will not even be enough time.

Yeah, I think we've seen plenty of evidence of that so far. I'm still open to the right trades and right players acquired for the rebuild, but I'm skeptical in GMTM's ability to do this. Therefore, I'm really 50/50 on whether I want GMTM's status quo, obstinate posture we've seen this year vs. the free wheeling, not-so-great results moves of the past.

The shine has worn off of GMTM. I bought into the "aura" at first, but he's made one decent trade, the rest have been meh to awful in grade. He's also done absolutely nothing to the roster or in regards to the coach as the team has severely under performed this year. He's brought in his players, spent way too much of the tank assets, and spent to the cap and got this current bottom of the conference version of the Sabres. This team could be in big trouble under his guidance, yet many still think he's the greatest GM ever. I just don't see it and if anyone looked at his record with this team objectively, they wouldn't either.

Because Tyrod's not playing he's not in the hype video? Should have put some action shots of E.J. holding a clipboard then. And why is anyone even making a hype video for this game? Yeah big rivalry to see who is the worst team in the division! I bet the stadium might even be half full! :rolleyes:

Great post. The only difference for me would be that I'm always looking to move Kane and/or Bogosian if I can get a decent deal for them. I don't see them as part of the future and I want their cap space freed up for other moves. I'm all for trading what we can and restocking our assets for the future and future trades. Although I'm not sure I want Murray to be the one spending those assets again.

Fed up is right. I managed to watch zero minutes of Buffalo Bills football for the first time since 1985 this year. Actually felt good. I'll come back when they give me a reason to. Not holding my breath.

And in the newest indication that the Bills are likely moving on from Tyrod, the team released a 2016 "highlight" video that does not show Tyrod at all in it. They then get roasted by their fans on twitter. This organization is so hapless. It's a wonder anyone wastes time on them anymore. The tone deafness of the marketing departments of both of Buffalo's "professional" teams is utterly astounding. Agree regarding the arena and the arena district. The taxpayers were forced to bail out the Jackets and Nationwide Arena, however, so the financials are now solid from what I understand. 16 years, 2 playoff appearances, 2-8 combined in those 2 series. Almost as bad as the Bills, but not quite. The fans are righteously cautious imo.

That Columbus roster is impressive. City is starting to get excited. Apparently had a big crowd for the penguins game. If their hot streak lasts past the buckeyes season, they could really get the fans believing in them. They are hungry for a winner but need to believe first. Sabres come to Columbus twice this year. At this point in their respective seasons, I'm as interested in seeing the Jackets as much as, or more than the Sabres.

I preferably want an assistant with a proven track record ready to take on a bigger challenge. From what I've heard, and considering his Buffalo roots, Housley is my early personal frontrunner.

Although I'd like it to have already happened, I don't think DDB will be fired anytime soon. Murray seems overly patient with personnel decisions he's made no matter how poorly those players have performed. Murray is very reluctant to correct any kind of mistake he has made and the coach may be the biggest of quite a few so far in GMTM's tenure.
