  1. Don't forget that likely HOF Carlos Beltran finally gets a ring after 20 years. Well deserved since his career postseason stats are: .307/.412/.609 with 66 hits, 15 doubles, a triple, 16 homers, 42 RBI, 45 runs, 11 stolen bases and 37 walks against 33 strikeouts
  2. Yes, it's part of the race to the bottom between the NHL and the NFL - who can care about head injuries the least, both in the short term and the long term?
  3. Surprised I didn't see this here already, but M. Foligno got rocked last night in a fight. Sounds like he could have some serious facial injuries. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/blackhawks-john-hayden-destroys-wild-player-with-vicious-haymaker-during-fight/
  4. Well to be fair to Darcy, he only gave up a 5th for him, so he didn't value him much at all. On the other hand, that's all Darcy did at the 2002 deadline and the Sabres missed the playoffs. Great year by Miro though, and the first post-Peca season.
  5. Couldn't help but fix this for you
  6. Fred Flintstone was the first comparison that came to my mind. Need to see JB with a 5 o'clock shadow for best comparison to adult Fred. Looks a lot like young Fred however.
  7. The last two coaching hires have had the faith aspect thrown in there. Anyway, I was initially answering (sarcastically I know) Freeman's question of how a first time head coach has so much power within the organization within 3 months of being hired into his new position. Religion plays a big factor whether you want to admit it or not or it wouldn't be brought up so prominently. It may be ok with many, but it's not my cup of tea.
  8. What debunking? There are absolutely examples of Terry stating religion as a criteria and/or a "plus" in someone's character when hiring them. You may be fine with it, but it doesn't mean everyone has to be. You also may overlook it because it fits your world view. This comparison is garbage. I'll give as much proof as you do to prove it too, which is none.
  9. Just leaked: The Bills new fight song: I've already given up on the Bills and the NFL for a couple years now, but if the Sabres go this direction (and based on Terry's comments they will), I will be similarly disengaged from the Sabres. I don't support a theocracy in government or society, so why would I support one in my sports teams? Religion as a criteria and a specific "plus" in potential team personnel hirings is a big red flag for me and something I'm not interested in supporting, no matter the ultimate team results. Luckily, based on Terry's ownership history so far, I'm not really concerned about successful results occurring from his stated hiring criteria.
  10. And goalie games during and after the expansion draft. Thanks. Didn't even take that into account. ????
  11. True, but there's a weighing factor to take into account. If Ullmark is the best choice from the Sabres, then maybe one of the other goalies is dropped in favor of a defenseman or forward. The weighing will be how much of a drop off the other goalie is to Ullmark, and Ullmark has a pretty high ceiling vs. Ennis/Moulson/Bogosian compared to that other team's player. That other teams player is likely to look pretty darn good compared to those three. Plus, there will be many goalie games played before the expansion draft so that the list of good options will be reduced such as what Pittsburgh is likely to do with their situation.
  12. I think Pitt will try to trade Fleury as a salary dump. If that doesn't work, his buyout doesn't look too bad. $2 million cap hit for the next 4 years. Probably preferable to losing Murray, which if he's exposed they definitely will.
  13. If that's our list, the choice really becomes Ennis (maybe Moulson) vs. Ullmark. Ullmark becomes a more likely choice I'd say. Expose Bogo and hope Vegas thinks they can turn him around based on his "concept". I'm hoping if Vegas is choosing Ullmark vs. Ennis vs. Bogo that we can throw a mid round draft pick their way to tip the scales in Bogo's favor.
  14. They have to take somebody from the Sabres. Our unprotected list is going to be craptacular compared to many others. It should be a golden opportunity for Murray to unload a bad contract. It's going to come down to Larsson/Girgensons vs. Ullmark. Could go either way. It's also going to depend on what they can get from other teams to determine which choice is better for them.
  15. So no one else thinks Ullmark is Vegas bound unless some other player is sweetened enough for Vegas to take them instead? In my view, he is by far our most appealing player that will be exposed in the expansion draft. Rochester vs. Buffalo for Ullmark is a moot point until after the expansion draft takes place and he's still Sabre property.
  16. Unfortunately Vegas is taking Ullmark unless Tim can make a deal to entice Vegas to take a salary off our hands. Do almost whatever it takes to get Vegas to select Bogo. If that can't be swung, then Ennis or Moulson. I don't see Tim trading Lehner or Ullmark after his glowing comments yesterday about both of them, but I can (hopefully) see him doing whatever it takes to protect both of them from Vegas. This is a golden opportunity for Tim to unload one of his poor contracts. I'm watching closely, Tim. Get me back on the ZFG bandwagon! If he actually protects Bogo, then I'm lost as even a potential ZFG bandwagon member forever. We need Ullmark in the pipeline. Tim's comments regarding Petersen yesterday were not promising regarding our chances of landing him.
  17. I think Dan stays although I'm in the "Can Dan!" camp.
  18. We'll agree to disagree. I think it can be summed up as "nobody knows" if Dreary is back or not at this point. We can only read into Murray's comments and those can be perceived multiple ways.
  19. Well that's what I'm saying and that's why I think he unfortunately remains the coach. Murray basically said nothing's set in stone and compared his situation to Dreary's. If Dreary was on really thin ice, Murray would have distanced his own situation from Dreary's, not compare them.
  20. I agree with this. I want Dreary gone as much as anyone, but there was plenty enough pro and con from Murray that I think he's still going to be the coach.
  21. He also said the same thing about himself. "I'm the GM today."
  22. I think you're reading too much into what Murray said that was slightly negative towards Dreary. He said just as many more positive things about the coach and certainly did a good amount of spreading the blame around to the players as well.
  23. I'm not sure I'm fully on board with this approach. There is still a fair amount of inconsistency in Jack and I don't personally think he's earned this status yet.
  24. I have a worse feeling re: Petersen. Murray didn't seem to want to talk about it.
  25. That was a weird reaction to a fairly innocuous start to a question. Why is asking for an update so wrong?
