It still may not work for the Red Wings this season, but at least Yzerman has legitimately tried. And I must note, Yzerman had the courage to trade away an excellent Hronek. It was a fantastic deal for the Canucks to get a top-pair partner for Quinn. The Wings needed ice time for Edvinsson and they needed money to go address the holes up front (Compher). TNT discussing Power's contract and game. Power will never justify the contract points-wise because of Dahlin. Power could become great, but other comparable paid D will be on their team's PP1.

And the Bills have the QB who can do exactly that. Draft a couple WRs on day 2 and watch Allen make them into household names come playoff time. Yes, Packers fan. And I want the Bills to stop being the Vikings of the AFC. Over the last 30 seasons, the Vikings have loved drafting perimeter players in the 1st instead of OL and front seven D, including the greatest WR ever not named Jerry Rice and one of the best WRs I've seen in Jefferson. And they have nothing to show for it because they don't ever have the QB. (Caveat: This year will be fun because they're drafting a QB who will have an amazing set of weapons... but history says they'll pick the wrong QB. And they're going to pay JJ like a QB instead of filling out the rest of the roster's depth like the Seahawks did on their rookie QB contract team.)

How close to the playoffs will the Sabres get this year?
DarthEbriate replied to Alaska John's topic in The Aud Club
Pens and Isles have the experience that grinds out the necessary points. They’re at 4 points out now and it’ll end at 6. -
Everyone keeps forgetting that the Isles and Penguins both know how to collect loser points, and will win outright if given the chance. Philly, Detroit, and the Caps are not the concern.

Question about left handed vs right handed shot
DarthEbriate replied to gilbert11's topic in The Aud Club
As a lefty, I feel lost if I try to shoot right-handed with a stick (lacrosse, hockey). I bat left though I dabbled as a switch. But golfing, shooting a basketball, kicking/punting have to be righty, which probably has more to do with how I was taught than feel. Edit: Of course, having my right hand cut off and replaced by a cyborg component has caused much confusion. -
Just remember, receivers nowadays are a dime a dozen. Grab one in the 2nd, but get the big guys early. (Opinion)

Once the wave crests and the roster is playoff caliber, just LTIR Samuelsson each season until playoff time. Then, Unleash the Muel!

RFA, Ukko Pekka Luukkonen - what would you sign him for?
DarthEbriate replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t mess around. Sign him to a an unproven (no playoffs yet) starter’s salary that carries through Levi’s bridge deal. 4 by $3.75-4.5. Levi won’t cost more than 3 until the end of that and 8M combined for a potential 1A/1B pair is fine. And either is movable if the other becomes Hasek. I’m wary of, but resigned to, them being the tandem next season instead of a playoff-tested vet backup and more seasoning for Levi. -
With Murray out, it’s a fantastic opportunity for Wahlberg to be the size and muscle and rack up PP net front time.

He doesn't need to be a banger, but he absolutely needs to be able to use his size to pin people to the boards, negate their momentum, and win puck battles. He needs to be able to use his reach take away shots and once-or-twice force an offside at the blue line instead of giving up easy entries. And the occasional tie-up of a player and/or his stick to limit deflections in front of the net couldn't hurt, either.
