  1. He had his opportunity to wake up by throwing away his stick and pummeling Verhaege with fists after the Krebs boarding. Pre-Hathaway, he would have. Instead, Krebs was a punk -- which is good, and Verhaege gave the Bastard Panthers standard response to punks. The Sabres didn't respond.
  2. Instead, Verhaege with a boarding/crosschecking, and worrying about the PP instead of addressing it.
  3. Send a message for the rematch. Crush someone on the boards. Spray Bob with ice. Florida would.
  4. Columbus is up 6-0 on Edmonton... and... McDavid had 1 shift of 37 seconds TOI. That would explain it.
  5. Forced to grow. He was tenacious, but after getting pushed around enough in the second NHL season, he learned that he could push back. I think he first snapped against Boston... at least I have a visual of him being very steamed. And that'll probably do it.
  6. If you'd ask him, he'd say he already has: it's Benson and Kulich.
  7. Wanna talk about hockey IQ? Greer is here!
  8. Hey... check that out! The Barkov line elevates, Rodrigues throws a hit... and then the Sabres respond. I never knew I had it in me.
  9. Cozens helps the goal -- stays on the crease edge and gives Dahlin space to drive.
  10. Now's our chance... to get the powerplay back to even goals on the season! Huzzah!
  11. Looks like the BastardPanthers practice their powerplay.
  12. A bit late to the party, but made it. It looks like the Sabres are both telegraphing passes and not putting any zip on the said passes. To defeat Florida requires more speed, gents.
  13. I hadn't heard that. Looks like he had a pretty darn solid 30-year run of TV work. Well, in honor of Mr. Harris. Hey Sabres, you're gonna have to bop your way all the through this homestand. Right now, the Bastard Panthers are trying to cross your little piece of turf. But it's all your turf.
  14. Yes, they knew it a B-movie. But so many other of the little background details were nicely done. It's just always been a "oh, what a terrible tag, unbecoming of the awesomeness of The Warriors." And the character's name is Rembrandt! </end rant> I know HCDG was trying to get everyone to play and to learn. Put them in new situations. All well and good. But it's nice to see quality HC Ruff line-matching and limiting ice time with a lead against the opposition from day 1. Trying to win is important. He hasn't done the "faceoff and change" yet that I've seen, but that's not needed this early in the season, and it'll come if there's a need.
  15. Barkov being in Florida's lineup tonight gives Thompson a chance to show where he's at. Let's see TNT duplicate or better upon his first game against Florida this season when he can't be sheltered from Barkov or Bennett all the time.
  16. I'm reminded of bad graffiti every, single, time I watch The Warriors (1979). Love the film, one of my very favorites. But when Rembrandt tags the gravestone at the beginning of the film... it's just a single-line W. I could've spraypainted that. You're just showing a hand and a paint can in the shot. Get a real '70s NYC graffiti artist. Have them develop a slick 30-second Warriors tag. Show them throw up the tag a couple times in the movie. Especially on the Orphans turf! Could've used it as artwork for the film and packaging, etc. Just a really easy miss on the production's part.
  17. The Sabres won the first one without facing Tkachuk or Barkov and getting a very leaky Spencer Knight. Barkov isn't guaranteed to be in, yet. But Tkachuk is back and it's going to be Bobrovsky on three days' rest. The Panthers will look to set the tone very early and put these young whippersnappers in their place.
  18. All the underlying metrics said it was unsustainable and lucky. The numbers were proven right. That was a bad hockey team. But, last season the Sharks won 4 out of 5 games at one point (loss was to Buffalo), and everyone said the Canucks shooting percentage was unsustainable... and kept saying it, and the shooting percentage did regress as the season went on, but they still led the league at the end and finished with 109 points.
  19. The 2018-19 Sabres who started 17-6-2 and won 10 games in a row during that start would like a word. (They missed the playoffs... by 22 points.)
  20. Correct. They were out there because Cozens forgot the rules and iced it. Now, prior to icing, they were likely out there to maybe get a shot at the empty net. Cozens had time and space and could've skated a few more feet and rifled one for the empty net as easily as the corner.
  21. 😇 They looked like a real team with a real coach, just stifling and keeping almost everything outside, with no panic. Just killing time on a Saturday afternoon.
  22. Their play with the third period lead: Effective, Efficient, and Economical.
