  1. And Weber, Perry, Danault, Kotkaniemi, and even Byron. They were crushed up and down the lineup. And the goaltending was garbage. Hutton-level.
  2. All-out attack from Montreal, skating hard, and forcing errors. I love their game thus far. They look like an all-out try-hard team, despite little talent. That's admirable.
  3. I don't like Gallagher. But I do wish some of our players forced turnovers, went to the net, and gave the extra hack like that.
  4. There's something strangely enthralling about Patrick's shorts-sporting arms. 100 bpm open/close. Just keeping time on the Sabres' season.
  5. For today, I'd play Biro on PP2 right side. He's on the Amerks PP. Shoots left so he presents the one-timer option.
  6. Don't everybody thank me at once. Anyway, we should be at Alderaan the Canadiens at about oh two hundred hours. But what time zone? Is that the local time or Space Time? Okposo and Girgs are very good bottom 6 (middle-six for Okposo in the right lineup) NHL players who would fit in just about anywhere in the league. They provide a stability on the ice that the revolving door of JAGs for this franchise can cycle through. We'll miss them tonight. My concern is now on the PP. Okposo and Olofsson (when healthy) both give us the quality shot on the right side as a balance to Thompson's one-timer. The positive spin of missing them both is that the team will have to work harder and add more movement to generate shots. It might just wake the PP up a bit.
  7. Lee-a/Leia, Han/Hahn, Bye-ro/Beer-o. It's an older pronunciation, but it checks out.
  8. I like Seattle's Three Stars Salmon. Instead of just skating a circle and tossing a stick or whatever, the players are given a plush salmon to wave around and chuck over the glass. It's sort of a reverse octopus toss in Detroit. It also mimics the Pike Place Market throwing fish. Rumor is the plan is to have a different local fish species each season. This year, the salmon is 22 inches long because that's the regulation catch length size of the particular species. If it were smaller, you have to throw it back, but you get to keep it. It's informative and fun.
  9. No surprise here. Eichel got run once and Casey Nelson just skated away while Reinhart went in fists flying. He's a good teammate.
  10. Played the entire game like we had a 2-goal lead. Alright -- have a great next couple games, 'Space! Off to camp on the beach in 30s-40s and rain. Offseason camping!
  11. Yup. You know... or let them do it for you.
  12. Someone in the new core needs to step up and make a play. Go win this game.
  13. Satan highlight... so smooth and patient
  14. Problem: Completely incapable of entering the zone on the PP. Solution: Wait for Ottawa to overcommit to 2 forecheckers below the Sabres' dots. Then, hit Okposo on the long pass for the PP breakaway.
  15. It will be interesting to see who, of note, ages out before then -- or is everyone who dressed in the aborted tourney automatically re-invited?
  16. In his 29 games with the Buffalo Sabres, Caggiula scored 4 goals. In his final 29 games with the Buffalo Sabres, Eichel scored 3 goals. (However, before he got hurt at the end of the 2019-20 season, Eichel was doing quite well.)
  17. Olofsson has an elite shot. VO's injury has taken away his shot and VO without the cannon is a very responsible player. For a time, he was still picking up assists and PP time, but Tuch kicked him off the top unit and top line. Then, the points dried up. He's recently started to look good again. Before his injury he was attacking, playmaking, and as always carried his lethal shot. He was looking great and over a point per game. Since the injury he's either not recovered (more likely) or simply lost all confidence (certainly impacted, but even without confidence you can take a slapshot). Recently, he's at least started to fire the wrister again. I re-sign him to a really good 2-year contract. The Sabres have no issues with the cap in the short-term, and if healthy, VO can absolutely carry a line for a week or two at a time. If he's busted, fine, he'll move on or be a rental with some retained salary the year before we really need more cap space. 2 years, $5.5M-$6M. And if he proves it, great! Hopefully he's also been relegated down the lineup by up-and-coming prospects. Then, when it's time to re-sign Dahlin, Joker, Mitts, Krebs, and Quinn -- VO can sign to a bit less or get moved. In any event, he forces the kids to have to beat him out. That's a value in and of itself.
  18. Levi would've stopped them all.
  19. This is a fun question. This season, Tuch is likely to stay close to his current pace this season as he's PP,PK, and top line minutes. And although Quinn/VO could take some minutes away in the future I don't see either displacing him entirely the next 2 seasons. I can see Tuch reaching 40 this year and 60 each of the two following. Then, a dip down to 40/year the final two of his current deal. That gets Tuch to 240 points. Krebs... 20+40+40 over his entry level contract with plenty of PP time. That's 100 points. Can Eichel get to 340 points in 4 1/3 seasons? His best year he averaged 1.15 ppg. If he's fully healthy, on a stacked lineup the entire remainder of his Vegas contract, then he could handily break 400 points. But if we add 2 more seasons of Krebs on a bridge deal that sees him maintain PP time and pick up about 40 points/season -- then they would stay just ahead of Eichel by the time his current contract expires. 420 to 400ish. I also like to think I'm underselling Krebs' scoring potential as the team around him gets better.
  20. Tuch with 2 more points. Krebs with 2 more points. We win this trade dispute. For today.
  21. No annual pilgrimage to Vancouver this season, but I did go to my first Sabres vs. Seattle game. It didn't go so well.
  22. GOOOOOOOALOFSSON! With the cannon... nope... just the easygoing victory. Way to bail out Toker after that gaff goal, gents!
  23. Great pass, Krebs. That was one in a million.
