  1. TNT waited too long to attempt that pass. Hold it and walk it in and setup or get a screened shot.
  2. 2 failed clears and an exhausted top line... and Boston can't do anything with it. The composure is growing day-by-day.
  3. The refs only have to call it once to take it out of the rest of today's game. They've elected not to.
  4. Whoa... what happened on that face off? Everyone stood still. Get your heads in the game.
  5. Cozens, Quinn, and JJP are going to get a goal today. Good non-call? Good non-call.
  6. Boston has reached full intensity now and the Sabres aren't flustered or cornered or recoiling.. They're countering and have had the better chances this period. It's good hockey.
  7. Great look from Quinn, and then again. Just wish that had gone in.
  8. Krebs may have gotten destroyed in the fight, but he did his job with check and scrap.
  9. They're not skating extra steps to make the extra hits/bumps, and they're not scrumming after every whistle, but they grabbing and setting picks and fully engaged in playoff-level energy. The hope is the Sabres get them a touch more desperate and out-of-sorts and break it open. That would show us how far this Sabres team has come. One of those quick 2-goal bursts.
  10. Sure, it could have been 2-0, but their ***** *****-***** rat-***** ***** ***** can't shoot worth *****-***** the ***** *****. And Krebs could've scored and it'd now be 2-1 Buffalo. Next, the Sabres get the long change, a chance to stretch their legs, and engage their 2nd period speed. It's 11 AM, grab a beer, and lock S-foils in attack position.
  11. He knows he needs to bring his best pest game against TNT. And if the refs don't protect the stars (i.e., Tage) of the league from the holds and interference, then that's on them. Call the penalty, let Buffalo bury one on the PP, and Marchand will back off. At least until the Sabres are up 6-1 in the third, then he'll start it up again.
  12. Boston does not want the Hall line out against the TNT line and they paid for it.
  13. Krebs and UPL with the kill. Tage with the tie. Nice response, Sabres.
  14. Need to wake up defensively. But Boston is a bit sloppy with some passes too. The chances are there. Mitts line gets on vs. Pasta line --- and gets it out, dumps, and goes for a change. That's the shift you want in that matchup.
  15. Looks like Pilut stepped in and the Amerks dressed 7D, with Pekar coming out of the lineup.
  16. So... game 7 against Vegas. And your options for the top pairing is #7 Bryson stepping into the lineup for... let's not overthink this. You play Dahlin for 28 minutes and get PP1 setting up shots for TNT, elite passing and vision, decent defense, and also physicality. (And I believe Muel is the glue of this d-corps, but the reason the Sabres are able to withstand poor goaltending and an adolescent team defense is that Dahlin drives the game from end-to-end.)
  17. Absolutely he's lost a bit. He's a 5/6D now even on the Canucks. But last season they were happy to have him guide Quinn Hughes and he's been there this season too, until Bear took the spot. He's solid defensively, will get beat by speed but not by power, and is on an expiring $850k contract. He's a Josh Gorges-type now, but with a better shot. He'd still be effective in the right situation. The main issue as I see it is the Canucks would try to send him to a legitimate contender and thus the Sabres would have to overpay comparable to say... Boston. The other issue is the Canucks are still hanging around the back the west and aren't ready to blow it up, even though they should have started their rebuild 2 years ago instead of trading expiring bottom 6 mistake contacts for OEL.
  18. The Canucks love Schenn and will want someone to dramatically overpay if they go on any significant losing streak. They’re just so reluctant to reboot. But he’d be a very good fit for Power.
  19. And Muel wasn’t dressed for the last Bruins game nor had the Cozens line come alive. The Sabres are ready. Perhaps not enough games or practices recently to keep the PP and random game situations fresh, but perhaps the break simply allowed Power and Boushh to refresh and that will be its own boost to the team and season.
  20. Somewhere along the way I thought he was a super-late 1st like a 28th or something. Thanks for the catch!
