Haha just root for the young guys and accept the losses, it becomes pretty easy to watch the games

Exactly we'll get great value for whoever we decide to move before the deadline, just gotta keep building the team around the prospects we already have and we know are in the Sabres future I believe in this as well just because by that time our "prospects" like Pysyk, Zemgus, Zadorov, Risto, Armia, Larsson, Foligno and whoever else we decide to keep with these guys. Plus we'll have the prospects to acquire NHL ready talent to support these guys once we're ready to compete for the playoffs and the Cup just gott give it a few years it'll come. Have to believe Darcy was planning that far ahead when he sat up in front of Buffalo and said we're gonna have to suffer to reach the ultimate goal no?

"@KKurzCSN: The #SJSharks have acquired Mike Brown from Edmonton for a 4th round pick in 2014" If they can get a 4th round pick for Mike freaking Brown I think any piece is trade able

I also don't have a problem with the length, but that is the absolute truth and that's what pisses me off, because I feel like we always get the short end with him anything questionable that we do is gonna be a suspension, but anything done against us doesn't get looked at or even explained.

Nailed this one! Here's that Shanaban video if you feel like torturing yourself http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60

I fall in this category, but I'm thinking a 2 season tank. After that, evaluate all the pieces that are still around, decide which are in the future and which are not, then build around the youth we like & move some of the others for supporting pieces, go out and compete in 2015-16, not like the cap will even be close to a problem for us then either.

Still counts against the roster

I did expect them too especially with the way Boston sports went yesterday & when Lucic tscored with 80 seconds and looked up at the scoreboard, thought I was watching Boston Toronto game 7 all over again

Just watched the end of that Bruins & Red Wings game wow that was intense for a second I thought I was watching the playoffs again really haven't watched any games outside the Sabres it's pretty refreshing to watch good hockey

Is there any chance that trades will be made before deadline?

Guarantee Edmonton is listening to any offer after this report coming out, Grigo already being here would probably make it more attractive than other places to him. However, yes this is all possible not likely all speculation no one really knows what's going on behind the scenes there. -

Forget the Miller is too risky cuz who knows if he'll want to resign http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24082716/report-former-no-1-pick-nail-yakupov-mulling-return-to-russia Yakupov is the one that's risky with this & his dad preferring him to play in the KHL than here definitely decreases his value especially since he was ruled OUT again tonight . Honestly from this point forward I'm terrified of drafting anymore Russians. -

Yeah I'm not saying anything's imminent more just speculation on my behalf tossing around ideas appreciate the clearance on Yakupov though. In terms to answer your 3 questions yes Miller would probably not want to stay their long term but then again I guess who knows. And the last 2 questions: My response is do the Oilers think they're gonna pick in the top 10? From my perspective coming into this year the Oilers management believed they are ready to compete with the big boys and MacTavish made it clear he's gonna do everything in his power to make that happen and if it's a goalie holding them back I would not be surprised if the Oilers make a move. -

Just another thought: Heard somewhere this morning Oilers were interested in Ryan Miller didn't think anything of it...12 hours later Edmonton takes a GUT WRENCHING loss losing 6-5 to Toronto, Lupul tied it with 30 seconds and Bolland won it in OT. Also, I remember when MacTavish was hired as the GM of the Oilers last spring he said he was looking at every and all potential moves to make the team better and would not rule anything out. I Remember Elliotte Friedman had something in 30 thoughts about it but I can't find. It would make sense and another plot twist was the fact Nail Yakupov was scratched for the first time in his NHL career, most likely just injury or to watch from up top but just something to look out for. -

Oh yeah I mean anything can happen by then if he gets hurt significantly then we're really screwed with that whole situation, but assuming he doesn't, value leading up to the deadline will increase with each passing day IMO obviously a long way from now though things need to play out. Hurricane Darcy will always create a shitstorm so something will most likely go wrong to interfere -

LOL at the 3rd line so true.....I think having all 3 would be amazing but unlikely I think a combo of Patty & Botterill could work though, Botterill working as the GM to construct the cap & give Patty a position like the Avs gave Sakic VP of Hockey Operations? I don't know but it would be nice to have Patty as a figurehead to bring some respect to this franchise. -

Thank you I thought it was quite a good idea as well now if only Terry could read this because he most likely has no idea Jason Botterill exists -
Yeah I got 10 after seeing 5 gamer last year bet Shanny doubles it up to "teach him a lesson"

Here's what needs to happen: The market for Miller is not high right now but it will be don't worry. There are several teams that will need a goalie to make a push later in the season and this is before we've seen any injuries to goalies. Teams like the Isles, Oilers, Lightning, Penguins, Capitals, Ducks and maybe even Philly since they are always aggressive. I just can't see Miller lasting here through the season, this team is too bad and he'll be the best goalie available someone will pay. Also, not that anything can be done about it by us & it probably won't happen but Darcy really does need to be fired if he somehow makes it to the 14 draft not sure if I'll be able to come back to this team. Not sure if this has been brought up before but I'd LOVE for us to take a long, hard look at Jason Botterill as the next GM. It should help that he spent some time in the organization. He's been brought along by one of the best franchises since the lockout & he's considered one of brightest young minds coming up through the ranks. He's the guy I want running the show ASAP. EDIT: Not sure why I started that with here's what needs to happen but just let it happen anyway. -
I voted in favor for keep because of the heart, energy & toughness he brings to this team, he is a good penalty killer & draws plenty of penalties along with getting in the heads of opposing players (always loved when he took Kovalchuk off his game). Yes he does need to clean it up to an extent because his rep does hurt us in terms of stuff like this or with the refs during games but I can tolerate that. Just can't see how he wouldn't have a place on the roster when there are plenty of others offering way less than he does. Also take away Kaleta do you really want to make this team less watchable than they already are?

Would have liked to see Leggio get an NHL shot IF Miller was dealt in proper time but he wasn't so it was time to let him go still really like our goaltending depth within the organization

This is my dream scenario OV coming to Buffalo, although that scenario doesn't have a chance in hell until the end of his career, so a possibility maybe 10 years down the line and I would absolutely support it no matter the state we are in, OV is by far my favorite player to watch in the NHL

So I've been looking over drafts in the recent years and got confused with how the process of how these prospects get signed or not. For example, summer 2013 you had to reach an ELC with everyone in your 2011 draft class and we did with everyone except Alex Lepkowski, but how come we didn't have to reach one with Brad Navin, obviously has something to do with that he is in the NCAA as opposed to one of the CHL leagues. Same goes for the 2010 draft, when Steven Shipley, Gregg Sutch and Cedrick Henley weren't signed but Christian Isackson remains a prospect, even though he has no ELC and all the ones not signed are no longer apart of the organization. Just curious what the rule is that players in the NCAA that are drafted don't need an ELC until they leave school? Any clarification would be helpful
