Just an idea, maybe a bad one. Home stints send UPL to Rochester with a quick ability to recall him for rotation into home games. Away trips pick a goalie to stay behind as a scratch depending on who you are playing. If it’s UPL send him to Rochester to get more playing time while the team is away.

Send UPL to Rochester. He’s an NHL level goalie and I’m sure knows he’s in the long term plan for now. As a “development” year his time on the Sabres is just that. I think a potentially more interesting situation will be what happens if/when Levi makes the jump. I assume that will be when we still have the UPL/Comrie tandem. The business side of hockey aside, Andersen has been a positive part of this team and is closer to retirement. Sending him out the door wouldn’t be right. I won’t be surprised if this is his last year with a nice send off from the organization.

Looks like Granato is not liking the QPC line as much recently...

Yeah I’d be inclined to see how they do after a few days off and back at home. Maybe it was just a lack luster stint for that line. -

I think it’s a fair assessment for the Sabres at least. Beginning of the season we gave up what seemed like a lot of odd man rushes. These tend to happen from inaccurate reading of an opponent’s transition. Since then the defense has played more responsibly during opponent breakouts and through the neutral zone. What I do see is opponents finding an open man in the space their cycling creates. This might be due to young defenseman not yet finding a balance between perimeter pressure and tightening the gap between defenders. I have full confidence a defense core of Dahlin, Power, Muel and Joker will continue to progress nicely. They will develop on the D more and by end of the regular season I suspect our goal differential will increase. Playoff wise I won’t be too surprised if we get in. I will be pleasantly surprised if the end of regular season Sabres lasts past the first round. It will (hopefully) be a great learning experience. -
