If he means slow down how fast they make plays I’m not sure that’s possible unless they go backwards in time. Risto practically lives behind our own net, they still use the drop pass on the PP and Jack ties the puck to a string dragging it around until someone slaps it away. I’ll buy what he’s selling when it translates on the ice. There I go being negative again.

This game is pretty important IMO. Second of a three game western road trip. If they lose but beat VAN it’s still a disappointing trip (1 out of 3). This is a chance to turn things around against the 1st place team in the west. Most importantly I think this game will show if the Sabres have any heart. If they lose a close one it gets written off as a good team coming out on top. If they win it’s a sign maybe they have what it takes to turn it around. If they lose big and lost big to EDM, their is something wrong more than a team going through a rough patch. I think JBott sticks with PH for the rest of the season. If they maintain a losing record one of them goes.

Not seeing the downside by trading any of the three. We have Dahlin and Pilut is coming along nicely. Mitts is not a 2C so there’s an upgrade. Sam is not a make or break on the first line and I believe he was drafted to be a center which he is not. PHI has issues and may be looking for picks to rebuild. A high end pick might lower the value of whatever player we add to the deal. Aside from less than a handful none of these guys are off the block including the three you mentioned.

Sheary-Mitts-TT together in practice. PHI places Weise on waivers.

Just thinking he says the right things into a mic but it doesn’t translate into the team’s performance. I don’t blame him for everything wrong, but I don’t think this team has an identity or real leadership. Something to fall back on when the system and game plan go to hell. I want him on this team because he has skills and someday he may be a good Captain. But he needs to hold teammates accountable and they, along with the staff need to hold him accountable. This team needs something to pull them together and adversity isn’t doing it. Neither is good interviews. Maybe a players only meeting where the have at it. I don’t know.

I agree a lingering injury will slow him down. But a lifeless practice is where a Captain should step up especially if the coach doesn’t. This why I said I wish I could hear what was said in the locker room. The problem is he has checked out before when healthy. If we see it during 45 second shifts the team sees it even more. That kind of stuff is infectious.
