GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Boston at Buffalo 2-26-14 at 7:30 PM EST

WOOT WOOT!! Still 6 goals behind that mark, since Buffalo has been awarded that many in shootouts. -
I'm glad for these types of threads, because I'm not trying to be an ass when I correct people. "Yea" is so often misused. Either it's being used where it shouldn't ("yea" instead of "yeah"), or not being used where it should ("yay" instead of "yea"). "Seeing as how" is something I seem to hear all the time. It makes no sense, yet it has somehow come to mean "since" or "because" in the vernacular.
-
Do you use phrases such as "sleep tight" or "take it easy"?
-
There were a few questions where a couple of answers were valid for me (such as pop vs. soda, which I use interchangeably depending on where I am), so I took it twice. The only city that showed up both times for me was apparently Grand Rapids, MI.
-
Intact. On a related note, I've also seen "infact" quite a bit. Its. No possessive pronouns have apostrophes. Mine, yours, ours, theirs, his, hers, its. There's nothing inherently wrong with the terminal preposition. It's been used that way far longer than the "rule" which says not to do so. Having said that, I probably would avoid it in formal writing. Also, it really bugs me when people say "where at". The "at" is completely redundant since "where" literally means "at what place".

Is it pathetic that I still count the ways that the Patriots might miss the playoffs? It's a bit slim now, but there is one way left: The Dolphins, Ravens, and Bengals win this week. The Dolphins, Ravens, and Bills win next week $100 says it's only the Bills that screw this up, either by beating the Dolphins or losing to the Patriots.

Getting together with some old friends for a LAN party tonight. That may sound incredibly nerdy to some of you, but I'm looking forward to it.

Looking at it from the other side, Buffalo is one of only 3 teams (Jags, Bucs) to not score more than 24 points in any game this season. I think it's crazy that every single game has been 20-24 points this far into the season.

I wish Manuel could hit the long throws like Thad. We'd probably be .500 right now if he could.
-
They had six Pro Bowlers last year. Their pass defense was #12 and #6 the last two years. The biggest difference with this team is having a real coach now.
-
The last 2 years, Fitz has 6 TDs and 0 INTs against KC.
-
So much respect for what Pettine is getting out of our depleted defense. I hope the Indians can carry the same hot-at-the-right-time luck to a World Series title  The same Cleveland that is tied for their division lead and, unlike Buffalo, actually on a winning streak.
-
Ah, so you were the one to jinx them. :P Perhaps we can file this one under the 'takes one to know one' argument.
-
Peyton has always been my backup to cheer for when the Bills inevitably eliminate themselves from playoffs. Definitely one of my favorite athletes of all time. Just wish he didn't have the arguable playoff choke artist reputation.
-
Mr. Clowney, please have a seat by your new and former teammate, Stephon Gilmore.
-
Again, Kolb was only 3-2, even with the Cardinals defense playing so well. He put up a combined 16 points on the Rams and Bills, two teams not known for their defense last year. You seem to think there's some sort of proof here that Kolb is a quality QB, and there isn't any.
-
He played in one drive of the first game. The defense is the reason Arizona did so well to start last year, keeping the Patriots and Seahawks under 20 and the Eagles at a paltry 6. The highest QB rating allowed by the Cards' D in those first 4 games was 86.5 to Ryan Tannehill. Even Brady failed to crack 80. And Arizona was losing to Buffalo when he left with his injury.
-
He was 3-2 as a starter, with only 1 game above 85 QBR.

I suppose a racing analogy would work better. Something like 4 laps to go, but even if we pull the fastest times for the final 4 laps, we may still lose? (I don't watch racing, so that could probably be worded better.)
-
The Sabres were already down 4-0 when he came in for Miller against Montreal, so Miller gets the L. When he left the game against the Devils, the score was tied, so Miller got the L (and would have gotten the W if the Sabres won that shootout).

This is feeling like a 3-2 final. -

Today, I put all logic and rationality behind me. LET'S GO BUFFALO! -
If Ryan Miller ends up miraculously willing this team to the playoffs, I will be filled with so many mixed emotions.

Last 10 games (at the time of their taking place, Washington makes things a little different now): 0 wins in 4 games against non-playoff teams 5 wins in 6 games against playoff teams -
Vanek had a had trick and 2 assists against Boston in the 7-4 game.
