In our case we didn't need a 3rd team to get involved, we retained the 50% salary. So why do the Leafs move more if they need SJ, when Boston had us do all of that anyways?

I mean I like the idea. Trade what you have is valuable for draft picks/prospects. But we aren't getting enough value for what we're moving, and like you say it's all for nothing given how we draft anyways.

Sure those moves aren't bad as a whole but that's only if you few those acquisitions in the first place as having intentions later to garner those picks. Adams signed Hall and traded for Staal with the intention of them being key pieces to a team that absolutely needed to be competitive this year a they both failed spectacularly. After that he failed to get even a mediocre return for the biggest bargaining piece of them. So I don't look at that like 'well we basically got a free 2nd round pick that's good GM-ing' I look at that like 'well he failed at the beginning, and then failed at correcting his original mistake. So he sucks at both.'

We're not going anywhere with him making the important decisions for this team.

I agree for the most part. On one hand he is a public figure with a massive influence, so like it or not his opinion does really matter; some people may take his opinions and agree with it and justify their own stances, or be swayed by them.

If he should be doing everything for society at large he should just donate his salary.

I mean, what do you want him to say? He toed the line like a politician. If he says he's all for it I'm sure he'll piss off some other group too. Even if he wasn't and he really doesn't believe in it, I'm not exactly surprised for a farming guy from California who went to college in Wyoming and lives in Buffalo.

Hated that signing from day one

Wasn't on a project a year ago, became team leader about 4 months ago. We were informed of a change in a different area that I didn't think would effect our project. Sure as *****, it did, and now I'm screwed.

Because you refuse to acknowledge something that does exist. You keep acting like the proof of there is no BPA is that teams have different values for what constitutes that BPA so how could there be a BPA if every team cannot agree on who is that player? BPA is not that every team and every writer agrees that X prospect is the best available but a team drafts Y prospect because they have a positional need. It is that a team has a decision between X prospect and Y prospect and although they have a hole at a specific position, they choose X prospect because they have him rated much higher; X prospect likely fell because teams do, for most of the time, draft out of need. Can another team in that position have, say, Z prospect rated higher than X prospect, and still draft Z prospect over Y despite also having a positional need? Of course. They are still drafting BPA, it's simply to who they believe is the BPA.

He has one year left on his rookie deal and then you have to pay him. You won't pay him a ton, but still it will be more. There's nothing he's done that indicates he will be successful; I know Gase is awful but Darnold inspired nothing either. Top that with the Jets are clearly going for a QB and Darnold is useless for them, I just don't see how that doesn't scream 3rd/4th round pick for that guy. We'll see. I'll agree to disagree for now, but if Darnold becomes only the 2nd USC QB to be worth anything, after everything he's been through, I'll be surprised.

He'll be better in Carolina, but I don't see him ever being anything more than a backup. A 2nd is way too much for him.
