  1. Don't remember that one. Was he just throwing a name out there knowing we wanted a QB?
  2. Not sure I buy it. Bean's entire tenure has been marked by the media not knowing anything he's up to.
  3. Where did I say I've written Granato off. I don't know how many times in my posts I can say the same thing: we can't afford to miss with this hire, and I think Boudreau/Gallant offer better odds at developing the Sabres into a winning team than Granato does. Maybe Granato is good, who knows. We've missed on every GM/HC hire since Pegula took over, and we don't have any more room for trying out experiments. A brand new, inexperienced GM with a HC to go with it (i.e. Murray, Botterill/Housley, Botteril/Krueger) doesn't exactly give me confidence.
  4. Ah yeah that is true, very good points. I'll say I've never gotten Mexican food outside of NYS, or BBQ for that matter. Definitely missing out.
  5. I never wanted Disco Dan I thought he sucked. Gallant went to an expansion team after success in Florida and lead them to the Cup and then 3rd in their division. Boudreau is has had very, very good success in two separate places winning the division 8/10 years in Washington and Anaheim and then took Minnesota to two straight playoff trips in his first year. Not every experienced head coach ends up like Bylsma. They are not guaranteed to end up like Boudreau in a new place either (successful). But he's available, he's proven to have done it in two different places before, why would we not want him over Granato.
  6. I did understand your post. Two things here though... 1) I never said they're slam dunks. I said they had a less likelihood of failing. 2) Teams make dumb decisions, i.e. hiring Krueger. There are other bad head coaches out there as well.
  7. Because teams like us chose Ralph Krueger
  8. True, that is an interesting point. In the case of Gallant and Boudreau however they do have proven success in coaching a 2nd/3rd/etc team.
  9. Don Granato doesn't walk away from $10MM. Rod Brind'Amour, who made $50M in salary alone ($72M inflation adjusted) will for things money can't buy.
  10. Yes, he will. He's already a millionaire, he's not going to leave the franchise he lead to a Cup, a great and winning team, and his and his family's home of 15 years, for $2M. He won't.
  11. Right exactly. And he's not going to be fired anytime soon either, we will be with our next coach for 2-3 years and we're out of time we can waste with our younger core.
  12. Pizza and it's not even close.
  13. Everyone is a chance sure, but there are proven candidates that are much less of a chance (Gallant, Boudreau). Coaching is 100% not minor. If anything Krueger taught us that.
  14. I mean Yzerman left a freaking juggernaut he built by himself in Tampa for a last place Detroit team, and Babcock did the same. If RB already has a HC job and he can make 3-4M more per year I doubt he leaves. I mean, why would he? He's got incredible ties to the area, his family's entire life has been and is there, and the Hurricanes are really good. He already made money, what else could he want that Carolina doesn't give him?
  15. Please take Thompson so we can let someone else believe in him for no reason
  16. Yzerman went back to Detroit due in part because of his wife, and Babcock to Toronto because of his. Forgot who but some d-man went to the Rangers for the same reason. Like it or not it's definitely a big factor.
  17. A little more than Krueger sure, but not nearly enough for me to be confident in him; saying he should have an NHL level assistant indicates you aren't either. We can't afford to take a chance with this hire, and Granato is a chance.
  18. That was the whole plan with Krueger too, didn't work.
  19. Sounds about right for them. I saw they were up late and then they were in a SO somehow.
  20. Sabres lose and Devils get a point
  21. The time clock on NBC is atrocious
  22. 1 bourbon, 1 scotch, and 1 beer
