Nobody wanted McDermott. It's an offensive league and the likes of Shanahans and McVays were going around. Everyone took one look at McDermott and, frankly, thought his religion and raport with the Pegulas gave him the job. So, in that sense, maybe Adams and Granto will prove some people wrong, including myself. I hope so. I have much higher hopes for Granato than Adams though.

His clause was if they won the Cup, he got a two year extension and a raise. When it came down to it he wanted a 5 year extension and the Capitals said no. So it was money/term.

I'd imagine they just retain Ellis and Girardi. Yeah I'm sure they'll have their list and everything, but Eichel is just such a massive piece I don't think you can drop that on the organization too close to what will be a massively important draft for us.

Now that this is over we can move on to Eichel. The draft is July 23rd. I would expect any Eichel deal to be within the next two weeks in order to give the draft staff at least a week to potentially work with whatever extra pick(s) we receive.

Well at least I called it in the other thread...may have backtracked on it but we'll ignore that part. Overall I'm alright with it. Likely means Eichel's gone, Granato seems to be a guy tailored for a younger team.
