  1. Good point. I added it, although I really hope you're wrong about it. I think the worst thing Phil could do would be to take it that slow with this kid. Throw him in IMO
  2. Maybe. I could just be seeing Pittsburgh through a lense of a city as a whole, and not specifically a hockey market. As a hockey market you're probably correct, though I would imagine the NHL prefers Pittsburgh solely because of the history and potential to be such a larger market
  3. Erik Karlsson had 5-5-10 in 45gp for Frolunda HC in the SHL during his first full year in the SHL his draft year Victor Hedman had 7-14-21 in 43gp for MODO in the SHL during his first full year in the SHL his draft year Rasmus Dahlin had 7-13-20 in 41gp for Frolunda HC in the SHL during his draft year. Karlsson's first 3 NHL seasons: 5-21-26pts in 60gp 13-32-45pts in 75gp 19-59-78pts in 81gp Hedman's first 3 NHL seasons: 4-16-20pts in 74gp 3-23-26pts in 79gp 5-18-23pts in 61gp Hedman really didn't break out until his 5th season, posting 13-42-55pts in 75gp Another comparison Dahlin has drawn is Drew Doughty. Doughty's first 3 NHL seasons: 11-29-40pts in 76gp 10-26-36pts in 77gp 6-16-22pts in 48gp (lockout) Honestly I'm expecting a Karlsson-like trajectory. First 2 seasons with good production, 3rd season becomes an All Star
  4. Not sure Pittsburgh is a small market :D I do think Dahlin will help the Eichel conversation start a lot more. Plus, you know, a healthy season would be nice Personally I support your Matthews crusade. So far you've been decently correct. He's not the selfish bust you thought he'd be, but Toronto is starting to rip him apart
  5. Plays for a crap team in a small market that's not Canadian. Sucks but it's always going to be like that until we're good
  6. I agree with all of this Carlsson would probably play over Risto. At least for the next 3 years
  7. I don't want to sign him for what he'll cost. And again, I really don't think we will
  8. Yeah, I get the offensive aspect of it, but isn't that pretty uncommon for a player to do that? It's so much easier playing catch with your fellow d-partner, and making outlet passes, if you're on your natural side
  9. But Dahlin shoots left. Why is he on the right side?
  10. Think I've been down the Sabres road arguing that point enough for one lifetime
  11. Botterill has been very firm in saying that you don't build teams through FA. He's also a GM on a team inheriting awful contracts from that strategy. I really don't think he is going to be going after Carlsson at all
  12. Proof that you don't need to, yeah. They're also an insane outlier and a miracle but all standards, so maybe not the best example to use ;)
  13. After the Bills draft I think we can handle anything here
  14. They're good enough, sure. But they won't.
  15. The only person I'm interested in trading that has remotely any value would be Nylander
  16. Yeah but I meant on this board. They just linked an article for fun I think, don't think anyone here is taking that seriously
  17. Who said we're not taking Dahlin?
  18. Button on Dahlin back in March https://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200/button-nobody-is-even-close-to-rasmus-dahlin-in-this-draft-1.1015705 - Nobody even close, anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. Reiterates this a ton - Could be an easy transition; the NHL has more order to it than the SHL, so he will expect people to be there and they actually will be, so with that it could be an easier transition. Don't expect him to struggle like Hedman, it's a different league now and players are more prepared to jump in to the NHL right away - Rasmus compared to Karlsson at the same age: Rasmus is way more physically developed. I don't see a similarity between Dahlin and Karlsson. I see a similarity between Dahlin and Hedman (size and physicality) - Lottery: Hates tanking, likes lottery because it discourages this.
  19. When did Murray not draft a consensus ranked guy where we were?
  20. Lol Marchand played like ass tonight too. Not surprised though, it is Milbury
  21. Why? They were absolutely dominated tonight
  22. It doesn't, you're right. 14C4 -> 1001, which is what they had. I still say they rig it
  23. I mean Bettman did try his best by calling out the wrong sequence. Thankfully they didn't listen to him this time
