  1. Swept by the Red Wings. That was right about the time Detroit started a dynasty
  2. pi's avatar game puts the rest of us to shame
  3. Harrington responded too, saying hiding behind a dog like this is pathetic. Can't find the tweet though
  4. @sidneypegula Trying to keep up with Harrington and Sullivan: -dont draft high -dont sign free agents -trade everyone away -dont fire people -dont hire people Okay. Got it. https://twitter.com/sidneypegula/status/992953923702067200?s=20 It's a twitter account for their dog, urn by the kids
  5. I now have more posts than True. Man, I need to go out more
  6. What  That seems like the last 3 pages of this thread
  7. @IgorEronko Sorokin doesn't want to sign with Isles until Snow is [not] there
  8. Last night was the first home loss for the Jets since February 27th. They've won 13 straight there. All the more reason this playoff format is garbage. Winnipeg had the SECOND highest point total in the league, and no doesn't get home ice advantage in the 2nd round? Let alone they have to play the only other team to have more points than them, in the 2nd round. Ridiculous
  9. Good point, forgot about them. That might be our best comparison; Kopitar is really nothing like Eichel
  10. Sorry, not really sure I can explain it better than that. I'm looking at Friedman's interaction as an isolated event, and you're looking at it with all of the history of sexism
  11. Wonder where Dahlin lives for his first year here. Apparently having Nylander with COR ruined him, so hopefully they just put him up with Eichel or something
  12. Vancouver and Ottawa won't be spending to get either of those given their situations so really I think it's just St.Louis and Philly.
  13. Fair point. As a straight white dude with a good life, can't exactly say I've faced a lot of discrimination
  14. Caps sign top goalie prospect Ilya Samsonov to an ELC http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/23404674/capitals-sign-top-goaltending-prospect-ilya-samsonov There goes Holtby/Grubauer
  15. Same. I also think it's incredibly valuable to have 2 elite young talents like this at such different positions. Malkin/Crosby, Toews/Kane, Bergeron/Marchand...when was the last time you saw a Center/D-man in this combination? Kopitar/Doughty?
  16. We're not. I say in my post that we tend to over analyze these things because of that history. I'm not sure that that history tends to make something more or less likely in a scenario like this.
  17. Next thing I know you'll be saying you prefer these too President's trophy and a few playoff appearances. I'd have to say they did
  18. I believe the point nfreeman and I are trying to say is, there's no need for this. Other people are capable of these emotions as well. What does being a straight white guy have anything to do with this?
  19. That all makes sense. To me though, if it wasn't two white dudes in this scenario, would the conversation still be the same? Kinda like this. I think we have a tendency to over analyze this because, well, it's two white dudes, and the history of interactions like this in a situation dealing with issues like this maybe makes us think there's something there when maybe there isn't.
  20. Good choice  Should mention it was that and it's really hard getting a job with an English degree. That was really the driving force to switching majors
  21. Genuinely why I quit pursuing a degree in English Lit. Yes, there are undertones, connotations, and deeper meanings to things. That doesn't mean there are to every single thing. After awhile people are just looking for what they want to find. It's very easy to pick apart a piece of literature to form it into an argument you want, let alone someone speaking
  22. True made it a universal thing, you made it highly specific. As a white dude, I took it rather personal that I can't have, or maybe am less likely/scrutinized more based off of history or the actions of others, good intentions/interactions with other people that aren't white dudes. I don't see anyone differently than anyone else
  23. Well you did. It's not just white dudes are only genuinely good to other white dudes
