  1. He's sooooo bad and soooo overpaid and for soooooo long though. $7.25M over the next 4 years for a guy that gets around 20-30pts/season now is just so hard to bite off. If we didn't already have a contract like that (Okposo) on our books maybe we could stomach it. I'm absolutely amazed the Sens would do that by the way; anchor Ryan to Karlsson. Karlsson's trade could set them up so nicely for a rebuild. They will get such a monstrously smaller return if they insist on tying Ryan to him though
  2. That would be really bizarre. Only two players I can recall doing that were Kobe and LeBron, and they did it for, well, let's just say different reasons
  3. His price tag doesn't concern me. We'll have Dahlin for cheap for over half that contract anyways What gets me is the Bobby Ryan contract. And Ottawa isn't taking any salary back, so we have nothing to work with I'm with you on all of this. I'm amazed at a lot of the teams that didn't make changes, those last 3 (Oilers, Hawks, Ducks) chief among them. The Ducks at the end of the season were rumored for a full tear down of major pieces. The Oilers were awful even with McDavid and Chiarelli claimed he could trade out Lucic. Then the Blackhawks, who last season changed their entire team, didn't even make the playoffs this year, and did...nothing? Pretty wild I wanted Fenton too. Never understood why it took this long for him to get a shot at a GM role Marc Bergevin is a national treasure
  4. My mistake then. Always thought it was ELC -> RFA -> UFA, and the RFA contract didn't matter for term, as long as it was fulfilled
  5. Pretty easy to lose your love for something, like he did with the game, if you're an alcoholic
  6. I'm amazed he hasn't been traded yet. Him still being here makes me more convinced we're moving one or both of the 2019 1sts we got back
  7. Well, what was it then? The guy just drank a lot on the road/during the season?
  8. You're crazy. Sure, give him that 2 year deal and watch him hit UFA with way better numbers and demand way more money
  9. I can't spell this word either, but I've never been this far off
  10. @WGR550 Hutton - we haven't talked a ton of numbers, but I think the main goal is for me to come in and win hockey games while not rushing Linus Ullmark. You don't want things to get rushed for him. I'm committed to the team and here to help everyone get better. #Sabres @WGR550 Hutton - Buffalo was the right fit all around, it made sense. Me knowing Jerry Forton, Andrew Allen, and Phil Housley, it was a comfort factor for me. Just to be part of the turn around is something I take pride in. Looking forward to it. #Sabres
  11. @IgorEronko Per @Boogaard_2 Nail Yakupov is set to sign with SKA of the #KHL #Avs
  12. Panarin has a list of teams out there I think, and last I checked Buffalo wasn't on there. They we're Florida and California teams Seguin will stay in Dallas. Unlike Tavares, he actually likes it there
  13. McCabe on the top pair? Bold move Cotton
  14. Hence the edit Aren't we all
  15. Well I don't know about speed, and certainly not about special teams. Those aren't the most comprehensive stats ever posted, but a brief glance would indicate that yes, we seem to get better at even strength It should be noted though that really most of that is just losing Nolan and Pouliot, which we could have done anyways
  16. Edit: Never mind, misread GA's post
  17. Losing him never was. Getting what we back however is a different story
  18. He had 34 ES points last year, and 61pts. So it's the exact opposite actually. He got 56% of his points at even strength https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/o/oreilry01.html
  19. @SabresStats Even Strength goals over the last two seasons: Ryan O’Reilly - 20 Patrik Berglund - 32 @SabresStats And if you’re wondering, Conor Sheary had 37 ESGs over that timeframe. So, let's see what we have here, as a net gain based on last year Out: Evander Kane: 14-14-28 Benoit Pouliot: 10-6-16 Ryan O'Reilly: 9-25-34 Jordan Nolan: 4-4-8 Total: 86pts Those are the official ones so far. In: Patrik Berglund: 13-6-19 Vladimor Sobotka: 10-17-27 Connor Sheary: 16-11-27 Thompson: 3-5-8 Total: 81pts Looking at those per game, we have: Out: 61 + 74 + 81 + 69 = 285 gp. So .302 EV pts/game Out: 57 + 81 + 79 + 41 = 258 gp, So .314 EV pts/game Well, that turned out pretty negligible. So let's see what else we have CF% Out: Evander Kane: 50.9 Benoit Pouliot: 46.2 Ryan O'Reilly: 50.8 Jordan Nolan: 42.8 Avg: 47.66 In: Patrik Berglund: 52.8 Vladimor Sobotka: 49.4 Connor Sheary: 52.1 Thompson: 49.6 Avg: 50.98
  20. Well he's fast too. Didn't we do the same thing with Reinhart? To protect him?
  21. Well RoR was True's baby, so I can see why he'd at least be losing it
  22. Still seems like Reinhart and his agent would see that and ask for at least that Btw, don't forget Ottawa owes it's 1st this year to Colorado, and it's not protected (I think). So, in a year where they'll lose Hoffman and Karlsson, they'll be terrible, and have nothing to build on. They need 1st round picks back for Karlsson
