I am not sure how some can get so wrapped up in the number. A top tier coach is more valuable at this stage than any name we have thrown around as a free agent. Come July 1 and these teams start throwing money around for overpaid free agents it will put into perspective how little we should be caring about the dollar amount. Players get overpaid all the time. If TP feels he has to overpay for the best coaching candidate out there then so be it. As for ticket prices - if a better product means higher prices well then that is just fine also. If I am going out for a steak it costs more at Morton's than it does Ponderosa. We have been eating at Ponderosa long enough. Are Ponderosa's still open? I know there aren't any in Florida. Used to be one in Lockport where I grew up. That was our big night out. You can tell we lived large.

You don't pay someone 6m to just coach a team that is probably two years minimum from the playoffs. Pegula has money to burn but he is not dumb. This is getting interesting. If Babcock was staying in Detroit it would be over by now.

How the hell am I complaining about a coach??? I simply said that having a GM and a coach who isn't sure what he wants to do have a joint interview is odd. I hope we get Babcock but it isn't the end of the world if we don't. So if I am one of the misery twins I don't get it. I have made minimal posts in here since the season was over and still get crap. If this interview took place with our coach and gm we would probably want to run them both out of town. I am actually shocked that Holland would go that route. If I am Holland, with his track record, I tell Babcock if your not sure you want to be the coach of the Detroit Red Wings then we don't need you. This is our offer.... you have until ?? to decide. Mine is playoffs start April 1. No reason to start mid-month. Then go 5,7,7,7. You will save 3 weeks which has you done before Memorial Day.

I am in favor of any change that lets the season be done with before Memorial Day. June hockey just doesn't do it for me. Not only that but the turn around time for the two teams in the Cup is not long enough.

Not sure what thread to ask this question in but if we end up bottom 5 next year is Murray on the clock? With the moves he has made and with more to come this summer when does his free pass expire? I think with the moves he has made and two top picks we cannot sniff bottom 5 next season. Personally, I expect us to finish in the 75-85 pt range (premature without seeing what the summer brings) just by adding Reinhart, Kane, Eichel, a healthy Borges and Zemgus, and a full-time Grigo and Larsson. Playoffs are a year away IMO but cellar dwellar days should be over.

Even if you could trade cash does anyone really think Pegula (even with all his money) is going to throw a couple hundred million out the window for him?? Come on. The guy isn't going to pay more for one player that he did for the entire team. McDavid isn't playing here. He is playing in Edmonton.
