"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition
sicknfla replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Source?? That is my only suggestion for this thread. If your going to post a rumor it needs to be accompanied with where it came from. Otherwise you could have people just randomly throwing out ideas and before you know it we have 50 Ecklands around here. -

For a split second I thought you meant DR. -

I have to give DR props on this. The Vanek trade is going to net is a big return. -

Don't think a rental and Adam will get you Forsberg. Miller I could see as a possibility. Stafford might get you a 2nd but not with a prospect. If you want a prospect probably wouldn't get much more than a 4th included with it. Either of those scenarios doesn't include Briere. I sign Ott as well. -
Draisytl (too lazy to look up exact spelling) goes and plays in the WJHC and comes back to see himself fall out of the top 10. Meanwhile others play against far inferior talent and move up. These rankings are no different than Kiper and McShay. USELESS!!

Yep. Hence my theory.

Maybe it is overreaction. I just feel that by the time he gets done "developing" in Rochester that he will be involved in some sort of trade. My OPINION is the odds are greater that he will be playing somewhere else IF he has an NHL career. You could make a list a mile long of players that benefited from going back to Jr's. However this situation is different.

I am a little late to the party but I think this story is far from over. I would be very surprised if he ever wears a Sabre uniform again. He did the only thing he could do - report to the Q but it's obvious his agent is not happy and has valid concerns. IMO, being that we are only talking a few months I don't send him to the Q. He has been there and done that. He will get game time but highly unlikely he will be any better developed in 3 months. If I am TM and TN I call him in my office and explain to him exactly where he is at. For the next 3 months you are working with a skating coach, hitting the weight room, and practicing harder than any guy on the ice. With that effort you may get some game time. If not, you will continue to be under our guidance until we can put you Rochester and continue developing what we are going to work on until then. Going back to the Q is not helping him. Period.

Yeah but if he feels Eckblad is a better defenseman than Reinhart is a forward then he may trade one of our stable of dman for a quality forward. All about maximizing your assets.
-
And TM already told us he likes offensive dmen.
-
He needs to take a look in the damn mirror and ask himself what he needs to do to get rid of this cloud he has over his head. He is not the top 3 pick he was projected to be. He fell in the draft for a reason. The sooner he understands that reason maybe he can begin his NHL career. Like someone else mentioned - if Druin can go back to Jr's Grigs sure as hell can also. Playing in the NHL is a privilege not a right. Wake up and realize you are not the star you think you are.
-
If him or his agent think that getting traded will help his chances of playing in the NHL this year someone may need to remind them that he can't crack the lineup of the worse team in hockey. Any trade will end up in the same situation he is currently in. Stupid move on his part.

The minute I read it I thought his agent wrote it. Hope I am wrong but that seemed very well written from a 19 year old kid 3 years removed from Russia.

Hired: Tim Murray, GM and Craig Patrick, Advisor

My bad for not realizing that. Still don't think they buy him out. -

Depends what they do in FA and with Miller. If Miller walks and we do not sign any high dollar FA they have to keep him. After next year he gets bought out. I just have no idea how if Miller/Ott/Moulson leave we can reach the floor. -

Hell no. These guys are going nowhere. Have to reach the cap floor somehow. -
TM, by openly saying this draft is far weeker than next, could also be playing some mind games with Snow. Of course Snow knows the difference in the drafts but it's almost daring him to defer the pick.

Love what I hear so far. As for the tank I think it is more just realizing that with this roster and with the current prospect pool we are not getting better anytime soon. Even if they wanted to compete next year its not happening. I am fine with that. I can take another year of this as long as we know there is a plan. With this group I have confidence in the plan. -

Good point. Depends how long they want the rebuild to take. -
I wouldn't let a little winning streak fool you. This team is bad and if they truly want top picks the next two years you will see that accomplished by trading Ott, Moulson, and especially Miller. Even with Miller he will not be able to keep up this pace. After Sochi he is going to be tired and the NHL schedule averages a game less than every 2 days. Every game we are so out skilled its crazy. We will crash back to earth.
-
We don't own it. We own their first round pick in 2014 OR 2015. If both Buffalo and them feel that this year is a fluke and next year the pick could be much lower then I can see both sides negotiating some sort of deal to sweeten the put for NYI NOT not to defer. I think PL F would go the route of rolling the dice that next year will be a high pick as well.
-
Simply put if they are putting all their eggs in the McDavid sweepstakes then we are in just as bad of shape as we were with DR. You don't build a team on a 25% AT BEST chance of getting ONE player. You can get away with one year of being an absolute embarrassment but two years is going to be a tough sell. Especially if we finish in last place this year by 20pts and still don't get the #1 pick.
