    I have 3 boys who have all played, and still play, travel ball. Here in Florida it is huge. Playing your local rec ball is fine but if he is any good you will need to get him into travel ball at some point. My youngest is 11. Last year we went travel only. It was his decision because he didn't like the difference between the teams. The level of play is night and day. As for the schooling part i am not sure. My wife is a guidance counselor so she is in charge of the education. I am in charge of the athletics. :-)

    I think if he had a list of 8 teams he would APPROVE the Blues would be one of them.

    A good friend of mine is a high level scout for the TB Rays. We have talked at length about this topic because i have two sons that are D1 baseball prospects. The birthdate is huge in their draft eligible year. As is previous coaches, if they are a multiple sport athlete (which contrary to what people think they encourage), how many games have they played since age 14, do they have overbearing dads, and so on. It is truly amazing what all goes into it that the average Joe has no idea about.

    If we don't draft two dmen then we don't make the Sekera deal. Kind of hard to put that on DR because i don't think he expected Zadarov to be there at 16. When he was he found himself with a need to get another forward in the system. If he goes 1 forward and 1 dman in round 1 i think Sekera is still here.

    Yes it does. I don't have the time or energy to play your games. Ryan Miller is not good enough to put then in the payoffs. Period. Contrasts and comparisons are a mute point.

    For starters they both suck. I get what you are saying that they need goaltending. Anybody can see that. I just don't agree that Miller makes them a playoff team. Just like Crosby would not make us a playoff team.

    They are currently 23 points out of a playoff spot. If Miller was that big of a difference maker we would have been going to a few parades by now.

    We were born around the same time. I will never forget being in my late teens early twenties and going to Garcia's Irish Pub before the game and then making that walk to the Aud. Didn't matter how cold or crappy out it was a great walk. Then we would go back to Garcia's either happy or pissed. Either way i usually ended up drunk. Been in Florida for 18 years and really miss those days.

    I didn't mean for my post to sound like i was being a smart ass if it did. A lot of these GM's are like a good ole boys club and i think would talk to one another even if they were not supposed to. I just think it is too important of time of year to just shut down completely. I hear you with not staying up on things as much in the past. Crazy what being so lousy will do. I never even used to care about the draft. It was in June and i was golfing. Could care less. Now it's all we have.

    You don't think two GM's can pick up the phone and discuss trades? Not like they are all getting a 2 week vacation. Highly unlikely but maybe they want him to see how he will do if a few current players are moved.

    They can't announce the moves but they can agree to them. That's why it will be interesting right after the Olympics.

    Probably just the one game and then he will go back down. Just giving everyone a look before the break. Have to figure a lot of wheeling and dealing will take place during this 2 week break. Should make for a very exciting stretch from post-Olympics to the deadline.

    Exactly. Some people embrace both the tank and keeping Miller. You can't have both. The tank will take 3-5 years to be completed. Miller will be 37-39. Come on people were are smarter than this. Do we really spend all this time to build a team of high draft picks and eventually top FA's only to have our GT be in his upper 30's? You think PLF and TM are that stupid? I don't care how good he is playing right now or if he wins a gold medal. He is not the GT to be on this cup contending team we are dreaming about. We have way to far to go in the rebuild and management knows this. Ryan Miller will be a average to below average GT by the time we are able to truly compete.

    Might as well start that thread now. With the Olympics things will be happening earlier this year. Besides we have had a 2014 draft thread since July 1, 2013. :)

    Thanks. I could just see this thread turning into "do you think Miller, Myers, our first, Risto, Armia, and a 2nd could get us Crosby".
