    I have almost 20 years on you. Those were LONG years!! That is why some of us older posters are harder to sell. Imagine 20 more years of current Buffalo sports and think how your mentality would be. :-) I graduated when you were born. You don't even remember the Super Bowl years. Christ i am an old f.

    I think think they will have more offers than we think. Probably some more enticing than a position flip and a third. At least i hope.

    Don't think for a minute that part of the reason a Miller deal has not been completed is because he is playing in the Olympics. Why if i am the other GM would i make a deal before then? If he gets hurt now or during the Olympics all of the liability is on us. That is assuming there is even a market for him. As for the looser mentality i will be the first to say this entire tank deal sucks. I cannot stand the thought of going through another year or more of this crap. This is why i am so steadfast on making sure we get SOMETHING for Miller. That is why i am so concerned he gets hurt. Guess it comes from years of expecting the worst when it comes to the Sabres and Bills. Hate that mentality but it has become ingrained.

    MacKinnon made that decision a little easier. Reinhart and Bennett are not in that category.

    They treated Miller right when they asked him if he wanted to stay. They then were going to treat him right with a huge contract. If he DOES NOT WANT TO BE HERE you owe him nothing at this point. My employees are just the opposite as you assume. They understand that i would run through walls for them. They understand that loyalty works both ways. Once that loyalty is broken (as Miller has done by not wanting to negotiate) then all deals are off. Some coaches play the "right thing to do card". Some do what is best for the organization. When you are consistent and everyone understands how you operate then there are no misunderstandings. Ask the players in NE if they understand how the system works. Seems like it works just fine there.

    Not sure what thread to post this in but with Ekblad emerging as a possible consensus #1 what about this scenario. If we end up getting the #1 pick do we take Ekblad or the forward we desperately need? If we go the forward route we are not drafting the best player available which i believe is not ever a good idea. So here is another option. Are there any picks from last years draft that would be considered stronger players than Reinhart/Bennett? Yes there are. Now would any of those teams trade that player for Ekblad? Could we get Druin out of Tampa for Ekblad? Maybe add a 2nd or something if last years #3 is that much better than this years #1. Or Ekblad to Ottawa for Lazar and another top prospect. Just a thought.

    Same here. if i accumulated how much i have watched in the last 4-6 weeks it wouldn't total 1 game. Tank all you want but not giving a rats ass about how this team does is not exactly something i enjoy. However, it is impossible to watch.

    I totally understand that it is s questionable move. I also highly doubt it hurts the organizations reputation. A couple of media guys will agree and some will say its bush league. One thing i do know is it won't have any affect on any future FA's coming here. The last thing they are going to think about when millions is sitting on the table is what happened with Miller his last few weeks in town.

    Trying not to hurt his feelings and "doing the right thing" is a hell of a gamble. What exactly is the right thing? I give him one more start max before the Olympics. Then maybe one more before the trade deadline. That's it. With the situation this team is in we CANNOT risk what little assets we have left. That is just me. I have been in business for my entire working life. You are looking at this as a fan. I look at it as risk vs reward. Hurting Millers feelings is not worth the risk. In a very short period he will be in a different uniform trying everything in his power to beat us. If he pulls a groin today and we get NOTHING for him who pays the price?

    You owe him an offer that most likely is more than he will receive this summer. My belief is they did that. He doesn't want it. If that is the case, and i am just speculating, then you owe him nothing. At that point you have to put the organization before the player. Kind of like the employee who give you a two weeks notice. Who do you give the overtime to? The guy that is walking or the guy that is taking his place. This is a business. If he has no intention of being here you owe him nothing.

    They have 4 games before the Olympics. These GM's know he is healthy or he wouldn't be in Russia. I sit him until after the Olympics and agree to my deal with whoever for whatever during the Olympics. Within 5 minutes of the roster freeze being lifted i send him packing.

    If Miller has indeed told them he wasn't interested in resigning he should not play another game in a Buffalo uniform. I stated this a few weeks back that a simple groin injury is all it takes. Now if Moulson doesn't wake them up nothing will. This is Buffalo. Plan for the worst because it most likely will happen.

    I think this team is a lot closer to being a playoff team than we think. IF Miller decides to stay and you resign Moulson and Ott you only need a few more pieces and you are a playoff contender. A player like RC is that kind of player. Add another top 6 forward and suddenly you are not so bad. TM would have to come off some picks and a dman prospect but it could be done. Cup contender is a different story. i think i would rather stay the course and continue as planned.

    The history of the FA market is not very good. Usually you end up overpaying. Normally i would say stay clear but we are so void of talent we are going to have to get it somehow.

    You might think he is only worth 30 but i bet 8-10 GM's will disagree with you and throw 40+ at him.

    If we are not willing to go after players like RC right now and hope that all our draft picks pan out we are in for a rough ride. We have minimal wingers in our system. Even under the best scenario and we get Reinhart and McDavid who are our wingers? More kids? RC's are not going to come around every day. We have to have veterans locked up also. When he is our 3rd line winger i will worry about his contract. We will be in good shape when that day comes. For right now and the next few years he is not a 3rd line winger. Not on this team!! Scratch Moulson and Ott tonight and see how this forward group looks. Wont be long before they are scratched for good.

    Why? Hold onto your assets and sign him in the summer. Its not like he is going to help us before then. If he wants to come here i am sure TP will make it worth his while. If he doesn't want to play here he signs somewhere else and you just wasted two players and a pick.

    Yeah even on a team lacking forwards as bad as we do going from the press box to the 1st line is pretty unique.

    It is early in the week. Lol. You know i think i truly am sick. Last night i went to bed anxiously awaiting some news in the morning. Woke up and immediately reached for my phone on the nightstand. My wife says " your already on your phone". Just checking for an important email dear. Little did she know i tossed and turned all night because of two dudes named Rabi and Straw. Anyone want to join me in therapy?
