O'Reilly would be great insurance if we didn't get McEichle. Simply draft Marner. With McEichle we would be LOADED at center with no room for Grigs.

Not sure we can put a hell of a lot of stock into his first draft yet. A 5 year old could have walked onstage and said "Sam Reinhart". Hell they may have even thanked the host city. The rest of his picks have a ways to go before we can judge anything.

I was counting goalies in the equation. Not sure if we have one in the organization yet that we can consider our future.

Hopefully not the same kind of established NHL players that we used to acquire the assets.

McEichle and Samson have to be top 6 impact players. Risto and Zadarov have to be legit top 4 defenders. At least 4 other prospects must be everyday NHL players. That is 8. Myers, Pysyk, Gorges, Ennis, Moulson, Girgs makes it 14. How Murray fills out the other 7 will be the deciding factor IMO. Whether by trade or FA he will have to be creative. This is not turning around simply with prospects and future draft picks.

He is a second round draft pick. All these picks are great but at the end of the day he is what he is. Very unlikely to have a NHL career.

In 19 days we will be sitting atop the CHL. Quite possibly still looking for our first win in 2015.

They will be much more aggressive in trying to compete as quickly as possible but the reality is this team needs a lot more than a few trades are going to fix. 2-3 years after this year is realistic. Keep in mind not every move Murray makes is going to work. My biggest fear is that in two years it is still a complete shitshow, Murray gets fired, and we start all over again. This rebuild has just a good of chance of being a complete bust as it does a success.

There is no heat and there is no pressure. There would be more heat if the team was playing mediocre. Upper management got restless when we went on that winning streak. They want to lose. They have pretty much told us that. Can't understand why that is so hard to understand. This tanking crap was a horrible idea from the start. However, we are this far into it we have to ride it out.

1-2 years is extremely optimistic. This is going to be 2 years of blatant tanking and 3-4 years of development/building a contender. All said 5-6 year rebuild. With no guarantees!!

Looking at the upcoming schedule and how we're playing we might win 20 straight.

That will be again next year when it won't matter to us. As expected, they are having their best year in years the year we have their pick.

I don't think he is patient. He just has nothing to work with. We have about 5 players that another team might want. This team is so void of talent I could puke. You beat me to this. I was going to post something very similar in the trade spec thread yesterday but a few of the guys were already knee deep in their debate so I decided to stay out of it. This is something I think is possible. This is the kind of move I could fully support Murray on because this kind of thinking is what it is going to take to turn this around in a timely manner.

I will compare the atmosphere to going out drinking. When the team is good it is like going to a nightclub. Dancing, having drinks, and not knowing what the end of then night may bring. You might leave empty handed but you still had a good time. When a team is this bad its like going to the Elks. Same people, many waiting to smoke their final cigarette, and just go home feeling like all you did was kill time. At least the drinks were cheap. Problem is hockey isn't cheap. So as you sit there watching another epic showdown you start thinking of the money you are pissing away. You get depressed, could care less if we manage to score more than one goal, and then go home and vent on this forum. This is our hockey life and it SUCKS!!

Well put. Just makes me think he didn't want anything elaborate. If that is the case the Sabres did a good job accommodating him. I also have to wonder if he was the kind of guy that was so unpopular with his teammates that having the kind of ceremony you gave as an example was impossible. Who knows. Regardless it sucked and was a piss poor reflection on what is becoming a bush league organization - AKA Hockey Heaven.

When he is directly quoted saying stuff like this he doesn't need to call anyone. He just told 30 GM'S I am willing to listen without having to pick up the phone. Then through the media he trys telling everyone how valuable Myers is. If I am another GM I look at this as an inexperienced move on Murray's part. Myers rumors have floated for a year. This is the first time he has spoken up on Myers behalf. Pretty easy to see what he is doing.

What is Murray supposed to say though? IMO, he made it be known last year at the deadline that Myers was available for the right offer. Those rumors persisted during the draft. They have been flying around all season. Murray has probably overvalued Myers a little bit from what he was expecting. Now he is trying to pump Myers back up with his rhetoric. I just don't see Murray being the kind of GM to heap praise on a guy without an agenda. Seems to stiff to me for that. Murray is still in the honeymoon phase. We wanted DR out of here so bad it didn't matter who we hired. As far as I am concerned that honeymoon is over. He has a free pass to be the worse team in hockey. That pass expires on draft day. He better have a damn plan because he has A LOT of work ahead of him.
