  1. Hopefully a quick discussion of "it wasn't meant to be now let's move forward". I don't want to pay the price to get him. It will set is back even further.
  2. This thread needs to get removed ASAP!!!
  3. Any trade involving McDavid would have to be because he and his agent demand it. Lindros part 2.
  4. Murray is going to go after McDavid. This could get interesting. Don't think Edmonton budges but he will offer a lot. I am content staying put.
  5. Obviously I could have been happier but haven't felt this pumped about hockey in a long time. It is FINALLY over!!
  6. Never thought I would say this but bringing back Miller kind of makes sense. He will most likely be available and we have plenty of cap space. Probably get him very cheap. We did it with Moulson. Some want to bring back Stewart. What the hell - bring back Miller!!
  7. Not sure why but this is the only time I like a 20% chance. It just feels like this is our time. Also might be time for new name. I was sicknfla a few years ago when I joined and hated this team. Kind of feeling rejuvenatednfla nowadays. That is a little long though.
  8. The kid will have 4-5 months to train for camp. They will put him on a nutrition and strength program. No reason he can't put on 12-15lbs over the summer. Reinhart at 19 is a shadow physically of what he will be at 22. These kids all develop at different speeds. He may take longer than we want but the skill and smarts are a gift. The beefing up is good old fashioned hard work. He will go to work and - here it comes - he will be just fine.
  9. I just now read this because I haven't been fully following the threads as much lately. Just to state my case I am not questioning Murray overall at this point. I think it is way to early to heap praise on him and annoint him as a savior and also too early to find much fault in what he has done. Things have to play out. My main criticism at this point is when he tries to act like finishing 30th wasn't the plan. We all get he can't come out and directly say it was - but no need to go out of your way to say it wasn't just because you decided to fire Nolan. We all knew he was going to. We all know the reasons why. No need to try to put an untruthful spin on it.
  10. That is a good point because most of what I get in regards to the team comes from here. Like most of the out of towners we don't listen to all the radio interviews, talk shows (probably a good thing), etc. Sometimes our views of what is really being said and what is insinuated can get jaded in here. I am still in the give Murray the benefit of the doubt stage but it is go time. Get your coach, make the easy draft pick, and then let's play hockey - to win!!
  11. When this team was 13-16-2 Murray was sharting himself. Don't let him try to tell you otherwise. In his own words he said he could very easily put together a roster to compete for a playoff spot, however, they wanted more than that. Last summer he was not trying to put together a team to compete for a playoff spot. So if the playoffs are not your goal and either is 30th then what is? 27th? Come on. This guy is playing people for fools. I get he can't openly say they were trying to be 30th. He just needs to keep his yapper shut and stop trying to tell people that he pulled the plug on the season AFTER the January swoon. That is garbage.
  12. Some of these guys have hard to spell names. Especially the French guys. We need to give Deslsuriersesa a nickname like yesterday.
  13. No thanks. I don't make that trade. If we get McDavid you keep what we have and go from there. I see no point in a 6 assets for 1 deal after you already have McDavid and Reinhart as your centers of the future. Plus eventually your going to have pay these guys HUGE contracts. On the flip side I would do Grigorenko, Zadarov, and Isles 1st for O'Reilly. Then your picking up some veteran presence. Grigs is expendable, Zadarov worries me, and the late first is no big deal. The O'Reilly deal would be contingent on a contract in place something similar to 7 for 42-45 million.
  14. I am not going strictly on the press conference. Basically just the fact you fired a guy for finishing 30th when everyone and their brother knew that was the goal. He can say whatever he wants that they didn't expect to finish last but he is full of shizit. Didn't we host a freaking Erie game? The guy basically admitted to McDavid wet dreams. The early season start was not what he expected. Didn't he himself say during that stretch that he didn't expect it to last and that eventually the weighted numbers of SOG, PP%, etc. would eventually level out? I just think the guy contradicts himself.
  15. I don't understand your "we" comment. As I stated earlier I don't have a problem with Nolan getting canned. It was inevitable the day he signed the conract. My problem is Murray acting as if Nolan didn't do his job. Nolan did exactly what Murray knew he would do. For Murray to act like Nolan didn't live up to expectations is ludicrous. If that is nonsense I am glad I can contribute.
  16. Who is hating? Just stating my opinion that I thought Murray looked foolish when he stated that they were not trying to finish 30th. I am totally fine with the plan to finish 30th. Just don't try telling us it wasn't the plan. That is an insult to the fans. Either that or Murray is one horrible GM. Best thing Murray can do right now is stay away from a microphone until he announces his pick.
  17. I know it sounds crazy but I think Nolan is perfectly content getting fired and collecting his cash. With 20 games to go you could tell he wasn't coaching to keep his job. Big picture how sad is that? Because he was trying so hard to win it actually made him look bad. Either way - glad it is over and move on to the next chapter. Thank God.
  18. He absolutely knew what he signed up for. He hit the lotto when these guys offered him the 3 year deal. Truth be known he probably would rather sit at home and collect TP's cash then to be a part of this soap opera. Probably why he was so adamant to go against the plan. That is the only part that bugs me. TN very much coached like he didn't care about draft position. TM very much did his job like he only cared about draft position. Now Murray is going to try to act like it was somewhat on Nolan for finishing 30th? That is horseshit on Murray's part.
  19. Probably true but Nolan had these guys playing hard. And with what he had to work with what more could he really do? So, again, I guess it falls back to why did Murray give him the new deal in the first place? I know Pegula has the money but what the hell were they thinking? They basically gave the guy 3 years worth of money to be a one year pawn.
  20. He was never the right guy for the job. I don't blame Murray for firing him but I do blame Murray for giving him the new contact. He had worked with TN long enough to know if they could work together or not. Murray used TN. Now Murray is going to wimp out and try to use different reasons for why he let him go. It is bush league, and IMO, the first of what may be many times that we question Murray. I don't feel bad for TN being gone. I feel bad for how it was handled. It makes the organization look bad again.
  21. In 5 years Ted Nolan will be more loved in this town than Tim Murray. That is more a knock on Murray than a compliment to Nolan. After this past press conference I question if Murray has what it takes to be a long term GM in this league. He looked and sounded like he was in over his head.
  22. Now there is a GM that we all can hope Murray will become. Settled an issue without throwing his players or his coach under the bus.
  23. I don't know. I hope your right. I hope Murray is close enough to him that he sent him a text that says Mr. Pegula has a blank check waiting for you in my office. Hopefully Babcock replied see you soon. Works for me.
