Now that's cool. Love movie effects. Speaking of, continuing in the random spirit, watch the making of The Abyss. I've never seen the movie, but I know I should because what the actors/crew went through to make it was absolutely bonkers.

Cherenkov Radiation creates the pretty/unsettling blue glow you see in nuclear reactors. http://www.geek.com/news/geek-answers-why-does-nuclear-waste-glow-an-eerie-blue-1599398/ Nuclear power fascinates me. My uncle and a few of my friends are nuclear engineers. Amazing stuff.

haha no problem! I couldn't find it using the search function either. Scrolled back a few pages to dig it up. Hear hear. I JUST discovered that about a month ago. Yeah, I'm stupid.

The Sometimes I Break a Sweat thread? http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21996-the-i-sometimes-break-a-sweat-thread/

I had several students write me and thank me here at the end of the semester. As I slog into hour 15 today of work, I'm beginning to really think I should get that MFA.

Yeah, welcome, atoq. Going home to Ohio is always interesting- tons and tons of anti fracking signs in everyone's lawns, despite it not happening anywhere near where I live. Something I forget about up here. GasLand gave me some pause... It was one of those documentaries that made me feel that it may not be completely factual. I believe the guts of it were true, and I'm glad it introduced the public to the problems. Hopefully people read further after watching it. I guess it spawned a debunking doc, FrackNation. I don't remember if I've watched it or not. I think I tried and thought it was kinda horsesh!t. GasLand 2 exists as well. I'll have to watch Split Estate, thanks for mentioning it.

Big Johnson beat ya to it a page ago. But yeah, that hadn't occurred to me when I first posted. I think he's from Arizona, so that makes it even more plausible. I didn't think it right away because it seemed a little far fetched even for a native american moniker. One of those words, yes, but the two together combined with a completely different sounding last name made me think hippie. Who knows! I knew a Dustin Shine growing up. Now that's cruel. Met a Dandelion Rainwater in college. Not native american, parents were commune folk. My mum went to school with a Candy Graham.

I don't listen to Detroit feeds if I can help it. I have been known to stream the game in Russian before, and otherwise to just mute it. There's a lot of "hey how's the wife la di da let's talk about the good old days and oh hey, they scored. Anyways, that tie looks nice, folks, for those who can't see it..." etc etc etc that just makes me CRAZY.

Saw that this evening. Really lovely piece. Ah, this is why I won't watch Det vs Buf with d4rk... But at this point, it's 1-1 I think? Worry about it again in January..

This is already what I'm calling this kid in my mind. Well, a bit different... Dick Thunderdust. His last name is actually pretty unique, it's fairly delicate sounding which is a nice way to round out the first part!
-
Could be. Can't tell a lot through his picture on the system. The last name, which I won't share, is such a departure from the rest which is why I wondered... You never know. I've gotten some interesting kids through this college!

I have a student in my class next semester whose official name on the transcript is Richard Thunder Sundust. Leaving out his last name. But uh... ok... Wonder what his parents enjoyed recreationally... Or he, could be his own stylings I guess. But yeah, that's a new one.

It's ok, by this logic, at the ripe old age of 26 I'm a damned cougar for thinking about half these jersey choices... Though so far I've avoided it. Ott, Warrener, Fedorov, Zetterberg. Staying age appropriate... so far ;)

It's so unseasonably warm today. Listen to this touching, beautiful, tender rendition of a Christmas classic to get in the holiday spirit.

We can never marry, lest we unleash a wave of divorce energy across the world... :(
-
My record's worse than yours... 5 weddings- 2 divorces, one pending! Admittedly, besides the pending one, the others were your friends :P

God you sound just like me when I was bridesmaid for my friend who's husband then immediately got into heroin. That bolded bit sounds like a large waving red flag of immaturity and potential turbulence later on. Speaking as someone who let people do that to me... it's not always a good thing. To quote that Bojack Horseman show of all things, "It's funny; when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags" And laugh all you want at the vegan lady thing... I'm pretty disgusted. Never have I known a man more controlled by the divining rod in his pants...

That is truly awesome. Glad to hear it. Um, congrats to them? I know how you feel- just this weekend I listened to one friend tell me how her bf of 3 years (a close friend of mine) dropped her two months ago and is now engaged to be married in April. I would not be surprised he invites me to this wedding/asks me to be a bridesmaid/groomsmaid. That's going to be hella weird. He had me fly out to Vancouver to meet his now ex partly so I'd know them when they got married.... and now he's off with a super alt kink vegan older ###### woman who was in a committed relationship with a woman a month ago. I'm cool with your lifestyle man, I just hate the destruction you leave in your wake.... Ugh. And more people I know just got divorced. I looked at d4rk and said, "uh, should we even bother getting married? Seems like a curse at this point"... But it's mostly the ones who wanted to throw the party before they really settled the tough stuff. Hurray for being in your 20s! Truth is, I'm glad it's easier/more socially acceptable to end things amicably. So many marriages/bad partnerships lasted and led to worse fates due to social construct. But I hope your friends can navigate all that without too much trouble, and grow together rather than apart. Plenty make it, it's just the sad cases you hear about. Best of luck! EDIT: Apparently Q uee r is a dirty, censored word! I guess I see why.. if used as an insult.

This is why I play history podcasts when running/biking. Can totally forget that my body's doing stuff it doesn't love doing because my brain's making more wrinkles.

I have two Sabres jerseys- one is a kid's goathead with Warrener on it- I wear it but the fit is a little awkward on my womanly curves. I steal from d4rk's collection from time to time. also have an Ott with an A. I'll always keep it because he was fun when he was here, a light of comedy in the sh!t black darkness, and the dude actually spoke to me when I painted him. Always be a special reminder of that. Both were gifts from d4rk. Next? Hard decisions between ROR and Risto. Could see Reinhart too in another year. Pretty sure I'll wait until the summer, though. This time last year I was predicting Zadorov or Girgensons. Want to be sure before I drop the coin again. Considering the next one as a woman's cut. Anyone have a lady in their lives with one of the women's cut jerseys? I'm concerned about fit. I'd like something a bit better cut, not that the super baggy look isn't cool in its own right... I'm left swimming in men's jerseys, even smalls, and kids ones don't leave room for the girls up top.

Wasn't too bad on his own. But yes.

I'm with you. Our former roommate worked at a stereo/sound system shop. He brought home this 900 dollar soundbar thing one night, and decided to blast that album at full volume for a good hour or so. D4rk and I could feel the damn windows rattling. We sat out on the back steps so our eardrums wouldn't disintegrate. Woah, totes thought I was in the music thread for a sec. Whatever.

Yep. Doesn't stop me from kinda using it to balance. No pain, so it's a soft prop. Not leaning on it or anything, I know better. The doctor told me to bring my other shoe to my followup on January 4th. Said I might walk out of there (I'm assuming with a cane). That's not very far off, and my god, I can't imagine it. That much physical progress seems so very far away at the moment. Only motivates me to take better care of it/do the not so pleasant exercises. I wish the swelling or whatever it is would go away. My foot looks really puffy, but it's actually rock hard. It's tender to the touch and inhibits my mobility (at least in my mind). But every day, the bruising/pooled blood looks a little less awful and I see a little bit more of my bone structure again...

Every Friday is another week down, another week closer to walking. Incision is healing well, I can flex my foot, I'm wearing shorts today in the warm weather.. It's all good. This weekend I hope to swing by the YWCA and give them the shoeboxes I set up. Each box is full of women's toiletries, shampoos, lotion, toothbrush, notepads, perfume, nail polish, etc. Not my usual donation, bit more work but worth it. Don't remember if I mentioned on Sabrespace somewhere, so sorry if it's redundant.
