God, I remember when I traded in for my current Subaru and the aux jack and bluetooth magic was standard... wowzers. I'm the idiot that waits an extra six months so they can ship a freakin' manual across the Pacific because I won't drive automatic. I had to drive a few rental cars that were all optioned up a couple years ago after an accident and all that extra sh!t drove me crazy- it was like rolling around in a sensory deprivation box. No wonder no one can freakin' drive anymore. Too busy fiddling with their crazy extra entertainment systems and buttons and bells and whistles.. ...but I won't knock the heated seats. I would accept the title of hedonist for heated seats. Unnghhh.... toasty buns..

I love that. Tells me so much more about that person than the usual sweet yet somber writeups. Definitely a smile because it happened rather than cry that it's over sorta guy. BRB, writing my own punny obituary to knock 'em dead... if I can make at least one person groan, I'll have succeeded.

ahaha I feel your pain. Spending hours making those characters lip synch for games, replaying their peppy little voices saying things over and over, can drive one mad. However, of all the kids shows out there, those are two of the least painful to deal with. Prepare to have the Bubble Guppies theme song permanently etched into your brain.

My former art history professor whom I went to Paris with is on Jeopardy! I haven't watched it all so I don't know how well she does, but still, super cool! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x40nf84

I'm sorry, Claude and iTInSn. Those little fuzzballs are family, for sure. I think the hardest I've ever cried was burying one of my cats as a kid. I said goodbye to a warm, living creature as my parents took him to the vet, and an hour later just remember being in awe at the difference. Well sh!t, now I'm crying at work. Our current fuzz better live forever- I doubt d4rk or I could handle that sad duty. My thoughts are with you guys.

Awesome. They are the pinnacle of circus arts. I wish I had more opportunities to see them! There's a few great documentaries out there about artists auditioning for cirque, and of a troupe in France affiliated with them. Ridiculous athleticism. It's why I do the circus stuff I do- I go to open gym and I'm surrounded by local professionals just falling from the ceiling in the most graceful ways. Here's a little article a local rag did on us last week- yours truly bumbled into a few photos and the video in the background haha http://www.newyorkupstate.com/rochester/2016/03/training_for_circus_life_at_aerial_arts_of_rochester_photos_video.html

Feel better, man! Tell me about it. The a$$es I work with have taken to bashing the autistic girl we work with. She sits next to me, and always does her job exceedingly well. Very talented artist. Just... a bit socially off, but friendly. When a project goes off the rails (which is every project nowadays), she tends to become very angry and have a temper tantrum. But you know what? You deal with it or talk to her directly, as she IS different, but should be treated like a normal fu*king human being. She'll try to make small talk about games or weather with them, and they'll trail off and stare into space or just walk away rather than TALK to her. Which of course makes the situation worse. It's heart breaking. Well, apparently they were discussing how mad they are at me for "encouraging" her. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize SPEAKING to the person I work with often, who really likes to be friendly, was such a HORRIBLE thing! :wallbash: Gotta grind out another year before I leave this place. I've been crafting my goodbye letter in my head already. It's like an eternal high school group project with less professionalism, if possible. Morally bankrupt, arrogant, blind, cruel, etc etc etc

Projectors on ice can create some pretty awesome things:

Yeah. Didn't really have an opinion past the initial novelty of the texture. But I'm not really a huge health drink person- I just like to try different stuff when the opportunities present themselves. Wasn't bad, wasn't particularly memorable either!

Yup. For the curious: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/19/world/europe/salah-abdeslam-belgium-apartment.html?_r=0 I read elsewhere that it is believed this attack was planned but moved up upon the capture of Abdeslam. I'd have to dig to find that link, but food for thought.

Best wishes, man! I'm glad things are turning up :)

Huh. Infamous Toronto mayor Rob Ford has died. He was only 46.

My cousin was in the airport about 48 hours before the blasts- she was saying how eerie the whole situation is, and was marveling (prior to the attack) how little security/police presence there was in the city, period. It's an interesting contrast to me, as when I spent a summer in Paris, there were military with dogs and heavy duty weapons on most corners, and in every train station/airport. I'm a little surprised there wasn't a heavier presence, though I don't know what good it would've done in this case. Years ago, I was with a group that was traveling across Europe with a concert band. The London bombings (2005) happened the day after we left London, in the same place/time we usually met up. The rest of our trip saw very heavy security, something I had never really seen up to that point in my life. I'll never forget the pall that had fallen over every country we visited as a result. My thoughts are with Belgium. My thoughts are with Europe. I have that sick feeling in my gut that more crap will happen. I hope I'm wrong.

It's been sad to watch- his injuries and age are catching up with him. I find myself considering the ol' retire now on a high note or slog it out till it's sad conundrum with him. Detroit's struggling to keep the playoff streak going this year, highlighting just how amazing Datsyuk had been in the past (not to mention Lidstrom of course). Been watching the Sedins go through the same thing. Also yeah, Kuznetsov is a beast.

Brent Burns. He just makes me happy. Good guy, good player, long fuse but will stand up for himself if need be. And ridiculous looking. And of course Zetterberg but, well... yeah. I like a lot of goalies too, often more for their personalities than anything else- Lack, Luongo, Holtby. Gaudreau just seems to love what he does, Gostisbehere has been a joy this season. Geez, I better start coming up with clean shaven dudes or you guys will think I'm facial hair biased here...

I've had similar- I usually blame it on the contrast between sitting at a computer for 18 hours a day, typing/drawing and then suddenly doing something athletic. Microtears, angry nerves.. If you're similarly somewhat sedentary, I guess keep trying to stretch it lightly, massage it gently (squeeze with your other hand and run your hand down the arm, like taking a sleeve off) and if it really doesn't get better, get an opinion from someone not on the internet :P

Got back up in the hoop with my partner for the first time today since the night I broke my leg. And damn, it feels awesome- I can still hold her up completely with just my feet! I'll be doubling up on aerials since I can't play hockey anytime soon. I've lost a lot of strength and polish, but it's coming back quickly. Pretty good for spending 3+ months motionless on a couch.

Dude. No. Not even YOU can be that crazy.

I think a basic level of human empathy is at play. And that line varies greatly from person to person, influenced by their personal experiences and individual struggles. An injury risking paralysis is extreme enough it generally qualifies for immediate concern amongst most people's empathy graph, if you will. I personally can't understand NOT feeling concern in that case. Risk assessment is based in legality- and when you're going after feeling sorry for things, I think you're starting to instate guidelines on morality... and it's not so easy to legislate morality. I live in grey areas, I think few things are black and white. I also tend to be a bleeding heart. It's why I still feel terrible for someone I'd label an idiot who screwed up their hand while drunkenly playing with fireworks while others might roll their eyes and laugh. It's circumstantial and complicated by your own primal instinct- help or not help. I have a constant mothering tendency, others seem to really widely vary between each situation placed before them.

Been back at the barn for a couple weeks now- we just rescued 11 minis from a bad situation- made the news around here. The last time this happened, the little b@stards were all feral and it was a f*cking nightmare. These are all pretty sound it seems, just very thin, covered in lice, and quite a few pregnant. One of them was still covered in blood from giving birth 2 days before the seizure. Foal didn't make it. So it's all hands on deck, and it's good to be helpful again. Got a couple big horses that are a huge handful- one almost kicked the barn director in the head last week- so that'll be fun! And hey, this weather- love it. Spring break last year (late march) had me at a frozen over Letchworth in 12 degrees. I'll take this. Hopefully a few more weeks and I can try skating again!

Bodies are so weird, they can survive really dramatic trauma, but then end up fully paralyzed because of a freak tweak of the muscles. Survive a car wreck fairly unscathed one day, break your leg stepping on uneven pavement wrong the next. I for one am glad Subban is ok. I don't wish serious injury on anyone- not McDavid, not PK, not even pieces of sh!t like Chris Neil. A good comeuppance is nice once in awhile, but neck injuries... Dude. That sh!t is bad. Subban's a good guy off the ice, it seems, and while I hate him on the ice in opposition, glad he's up and cleared today.
