Aw man. Nope, no way for me to "take it easy". And looking at your complaint, even if I could, I probably wouldn't haha I'm off today to get ready for our big paintball outing and I'm still checking my work messages every 5 seconds making sure I didn't screw anyone over (despite having it on the calendar for 3 months, my bosses still acted crestfallen when I reminded them last week of my absence, one tried to talk me out of it. Me, the employee who RARELY if EVER takes time off....). But yeah, I'm definitely not a person I like. Haven't been for a couple years with this job. I swear I used to be more fun...

Panic attacks suck. This awful job search process (I'm too "creative" for corporate work at agencies apparently...), my dad being ill, just all the stress piled on me at work and made worse by lack of communication... I wake up drenched in sweat with a pounding heart thinking "oh no, it's the stomach flu". Feel like death for a awhile, talk myself down, breathing exercises... and wake up not sick the next day. Well, at least I hope I'm not. I guess it's better than actually having the flu. But these are very new for me.

Woah. Dat Sabrespace Logo.

That is exactly how I felt. Going with a few friends helps. And I'm still embarrassed when there's a lot of people because 90% of the time you're sitting watching everyone else. And I only ever go during the summer at the university place and it's just mostly hardcore climber people. During the schoolyear I'm afraid I'd run into my students.... in my spandex. Nope. Ah, the power dude climbing. That's what made me so grumpy the other day- I was practically doing the splits and a heel hook to get my body up this damn route and these lanky mofos just power jumped their way up it with their long stupid gorilla arms (weren't rock climbers, a bunch of lacrosse dudes or something I think) I try to get the balance right. It's not as intuitive as it sounds. I'm always flagging the wrong way or making a route needlessly complicated. My friends are all good climber dudes. One of them is about 6'5", another about 5'7", both thin and wiry, and the other a stockier built 5'9". It's really helped me to watch how the three of them approach the same problem. Gotta take a break from it this week- back up in top level aerial hoop and trapeze after about 4 months of working back up to it- can't bust my hands and arms up between those classes. And ooh! I have little abs starting to show! I'm really excited about those.

Wow, beautiful. So jealous! One of my friends is up camping/hiking in Banff in the Canadian rockies and I begged him to pack me in his suitcase and take me along. Been bouldering a lot more, went kayaking yesterday, try to go hiking around here on my own once a week. Bouldering on my own without my friends is a strange experience. Usually we take a couple hours and support/tease each other as we take turns on the walls. It's a lot of fun. On my own... I bust my arms up way quicker and get stuck in my head. I tried this one route a good 7 or 8 times, and there's a section of it I simply cannot manage. It's just out of reach without jumping, which I can't really do yet (hanging by a finger). Group of tall guys all struggle up it, watch me do it one more time, "hey, I think you're too short. Sorry". Eyyy eff off man, I don't want to let my height be an excuse! Oh well. A weekend of 4,500 macho men playing paintball in PA awaits. All the girls in our group bailed, and I'll be one of maybe 20-30 women playing this weekend. Pray for me. Given some comments I've received in past years (and getting spit on), I'm genuinely a little worried.

I can get drunk and draw some abomination if you want... Four sluggalos of the apocalypse, sluggalo toupees....

Yess. Not bagels, but I always will have a soft spot for Dave's Cosmic Subs. Lunch, then Grog Shop for a show.

Yeah, I totally understand that. The GoT universe is of course, rife with that sort of thing, because that was the world at that time. That doesn't bother me. My issue was the show adding it in where it wasn't in the source material. Call me a crazy lady SJW but it felt highly unnecessary and distracting from the quality of the books. Bleh bleh bleh. I have a lot of trouble watching that stuff, it should be difficult but... felt like a lazy writing shock tactic. I can see why in some spots, the whole Sansa vs. Bolton deal but meh. Lot of bada$$ women in the show right now. I hope things keep going strongly now that we're past the books!

Great finale. I've been spotty in my watching ever since they were like and YOU get a rape scene and YOU get a rape scene last season, but I'm glad I tuned in to the last few this season.

Wow. Glad to hear it! Hope he has a speedy recovery! *hugs*

My mother, bless her, got me a messenger bag last christmas with the sluggalo on it. As she has zero knowledge of sports let alone Buffalo Sabres culture, I didn't have the heart to tell her. I still have it, tags attached...

Wow, what an interesting article. I have always said that I understand the buffaslug. I didn't say like. I get why it came into existence. Finding out that the designer was 25 at the time... well, that makes even more sense. From his fairly recently graduated designers perspective, it hits all the points it *technically* should- simplification, correct colors, minimal angles, smooth, aggressive tilt. But it doesn't stand well on its own, and has lost the entire feel of the franchise. Biggest reason being, the original Sabres logo is one of the best logos out there. Asking this kid to redesign the wheel, he went outside the box, and ended up with a gelatinous toupee. I feel for the guy. One of my profs in college designed logos for pro sports teams- he spoke once about how hard it is to have thick skin over backlash on that sort of thing. Next article... the designer(s) of the turd jersey.....

Bosses got plastered and went to my 23 year old female coworker's apartment building after midnight and drunkenly screamed up at her for awhile. Today is her last day, they went a little too hard after she went home for the night. Not to mention the creepy messages she received. What's fantastic? I'm just going to spam Buffalo companies with cover letters and resumes all weekend. Leaving is a real thing that can happen. I guess I don't even care what I get, I just get out of here, and that's a gift. And I get to support my friend as she performs in her first aerial recital on Sunday :)

Well, it happened. Unless Parliament shuts it down. Pound is down 8.4 percent and falling.

My condolences, Qwk. God the job application process is horrible. Never felt so lowly about myself. And having friends who sh!t on all my potential decisions (or lack thereof.. not a lot of options in Buff apparently) is not helping. So many mental meltdowns. I think I've hit my quota for the decade. I mean, this is only the biggest decision I've ever made on my own in my life. No big deal.

Mmm what a beautiful city. I was lucky enough to play an outdoor concert in Salzburg once. That whole section of Europe is just so stunning. I hope to go back one day. Enjoy and safe travels!

Tonight my bosses made me go to the bar with them again. As usual, I had my "I can only stay a bit, I have trapeze" excuse. But they forced a drink in my hand. Instead of making a mistake like last week and getting liquor, I chose a small glass of wine. There's a cab sauv out there named Irony. I had the exquisite joy of ordering a glass of Irony on my boss's tab as I plan my exit.

Nice! Thanks so much for asking! I really could see climbing being my next main thing. The circus arts place in Buffalo is a direct competitor/not as good as the one I go to in Rochester, and apparently are rather negative towards people who attended the Rochester school, so I may have to give that up. And I'll be losing my weekend volunteering at the horse rescue/barn. But man, I love having strong arms, and I like the camaraderie of climbing. There was a girl at Red Barn yesterday who was just... so effortless on the wall. Like a damn spider. Just cruising through the hardest routes smoothly. Inspiring. I got farther in my first time back yesterday than I had all last summer before I broke the leg. Still, watching a guy in a Rock Ventures shirt go rocketing up the route without really using his legs that took me like 10 minutes of huffing and puffing to complete was kinda funny.
-
Thanks! I love Rock Ventures and prefer top-roping, but it's just really expensive and I can't find any other friends who are willing to spend the moolah with me. Gotta have a belaying partner! So I've been at the sticky ol' barn. Bouldering hurts and I'm not very good at it, but I guess that's a sign to keep doing it... Right after I posted this, a Buff friend told me about Niagara Climbing Center and was asking if there were good outdoor spots- I'll pass on your info! I'd love to try some real outdoor stuff sometime.

Any of you live in Buffalo and do rock climbing or bouldering? I'm getting back into it here in Roc and wanna nail down some places when I move in a few months.

He'll always be a cocaine fueled drunk teletubby to me! but yep, Riley is a good hockey player. Was a lot of fun to watch him last year. Detroit would be wise to keep him and Larkin.

Anyone else here been watching the ESPN 30 for 30 five part series on OJ Simpson? I've enjoyed pretty much every 30 for 30 doc I've watched. This one delves pretty deeply into the racial tensions in OJ's life and LA at that time, and the various reactions to allegations of domestic abuse. A lot of interesting comparisons to me when you consider reactions to more recent situations (i.e. major league domestic abuse allegations and riots in Ferguson). And the media circus. Etc. I think everyone knows the story on at least a basic level. If you download the ESPN app you can stream all five parts for free without waiting to catch them on TV (provided you have a cable subscription). Just wondering what anyone else thinks of it!

I want a Sluggalo on a 2014 third jersey, I think it'd be sweet. And make the grey armpit patches bigger!

d4rk and I played a soccer tourney this weekend. The promised rainshowers and cloudiness never came, and instead we won the championship in 6 games in the blazing sun. We won because one of the finalist teams said "screw it" and went home. Got an ancient 1918 trophy originally awarded for Tent Pegging (you can google that at work, I promise) and some nasty sunburns/heat exhaustion for our efforts. My legs are still in hell, my ankle gave out after the third game, but I still managed to do some basing for acro yesterday at my aerial studio's picnic. Helps that Kira is all of 100 pounds soaking wet.

And I've still never had a donut from Paula's. Share the wealth. Your mom loves me.
