ha HA! Yeah man, d4rk sounded awful. It was beyond "oh it's just the flu". Sounded like he was garble coughing under water, except there was no phlegm coming up. Oh, and he looked awful and has dropped a few pounds. So yesterday, when I started feeling a little... off... I went home early, took the night off, took some zinc and ate real food and hit the hay early. I feel ok today, but I'm still suspicious. I had complete rubber legs. My body was begging me to shut it down. I'm pretty sure it was my immune system trying to kick in like a grumpy old heater. I'm not playing around with this one!

Just chillin' in my flightsuit, dressed as Ripley from Alien... my coworkers have some good costumes too. One guy came in wearing a giant mech suit made of cardboard and PVC. I do like Halloween at this office.

Got some shots to share from practice tonight! As you can see, my hoop partner is smaller and super flexible. I'm just the muscle. We're up to 4 or 5 classes/sessions a week now- performing in December and ramping up the training. These are all kinda crappy quality screenshots from video taken. I don't know how to mess around with uploading videos so... This is called Sleeping Beauty, and I'm in a backbend balancing us out. My feet are under her neck and between her legs, supporting her full weight. From this I lift her up to the hoop, she grabs, swings down, swings up, and I catch one of her feet between my thighs. She then hangs from my legs and poses while I attempt to not grimace. This is the first pose in our shoulder stand set. It doesn't look like I'm doing much, but my legs are straight and are pushing her full weight off the hoop so she can split and pose. It's hell on my hands but we're getting it! Second part, as you can see, she's hella flexible. Makes our routine better, since I'm the lesser experienced of the two of us. Aaaand from our trapeze routine (different partner), a really blurry screencap of our final move, where she drops from the ropes above and I catch her in my armpits.

LIsten. I know. You're a man. Which means you are biologically programmed to die every time you get the sniffles and I have to nurse you back to health on the weekends.
-
And you know damn well you didn't have to do that if you were too sick.

Father and son want to rename the new Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit the DoughJoe. I kind of love it. http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2016/10/father_and_son_pushing_for_lit.html#incart_river_home

Honestly, I don't know where I stand on them, but I got one this year, have been around you, and *knock on wood* am not dying of your plague yet. And if you get the stomach flu, and you're in Buffalo and I'm in Rochester, you're staying there. That crap never fails to land me in the hospital. I have a stupid fear of vomit/vomiting on top of it all. And yes dear, you do look like death. Suitable halloween costume. "Oh, Carter, what are you?" "I'm the flu". Effing terrifying.

He's been dying for over a week now. I keep saying take a day off work, effing sleep, take care of yourself. D4rk gets flus that will last for a month because he refuses to go to a doctor or stay home. I get it, no sick days, but is it really worth weeks of feeling like crap and giving it to other people? My complaints are work related as usual. I'll spare you.

I've been at the aerial gym 4 nights a week, sometimes for 3 hours, mostly hauling my 120 lb partner around. I have abs, b!tches. It's pretty neat. Performance in about a month.... I could use some cardio though. Only so many hours in a day...

That was so painful. I try to stay out of the politics thread but... I lost it around his interruption of "Excuse me. My turn". His tone. It brought back a lot of very unpleasant memories of assault and control for me. He has the bearing of a bully, a dangerous one. But his demeanor, his tone...The way he just slimes out of accusations, blames others for not making stronger laws he couldn't easily take advantage of... A President should have dignity, stature, a presence, a bearing. He only has a presence, and it is a threatening one. So many issues that are usually discussed in debates- education, environment, specifics of economics both domestic and abroad... and something as seemingly no brainer polarized good/bad as sexual assault gets bumbled and fumbled and becomes the central point of an election. This is wrong. This is all wrong. I've never had a freakin' debate give me much emotion besides boredom. This one reduced me to sobbing. I'm a nasty woman, I guess.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
josie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I will say that Devil's Rejects was good. Not a huge horror fan either... if I watch it I want it to be sci-fi-ish. For me, John Carpenter's The Thing and the original Alien are favorites. The special effects and making of both films is brilliant stuff. And The Mist really creeped me out, that damn ending. I prefer to watch friends or playthroughs of horror games. Playing Deadspace back in college with the lights off for hours and then watching the horrible movie Event Horizon while drinking made for some interesting dreams. -
I swear I didn't touch his! I'll post mine if I can figure out how to post a photo from my phone. It's from the Miyazaki film Kiki's Delivery Service. Didn't think anyone here would really get it or care haha

It's a good change, no? Hockey's back, baby.

If we had a Sabrespace Greatest Hits thread for posterity this post series would make it.

God I wish I had a Satan jersey. As a metalhead and hockey fan, I'd love it so much.
-
haha it's all his. I have a Warrener jersey he got me, but it's a kid's size and while it fits for the most part, the logo and my ladylike chest protrusions do not get along too well. That's the problem!!
-
Oh I know it. I almost stole your Khmylev jersey to wear today but I figured you'd kill me. Eh, it's halloween season
-
Oh that's super cool!

That's my plan. I'll have to give up the rescue and possibly circus arts, so I'll have free time to go nuts with. I used to volunteer at the Toledo Zoo in high school and loved it. Even the gory stuff, like cutting up chicks/mice to hand feed the arctic fox and rescue hawks with. Even just being a tour guide who can chew off the ears of paying customers would be fun. Poor d4rk. We were in the aquarium, he dared to ask what a fish was, and I then told him what every fish was and a fun fish fact of each. He pretended he was interested :P One of the triathletes I met at Ironman Canada last year is a large animal vet/expert nutritionist and professor. Bloody brilliant woman. Over dinner, her biochemical Yaley husband and her regaled me with all kinds of tales of nutrition and how it breaks down in your body, etc etc. I loved every second of it. She inspired me quite a bit.

haHA! So this is the first season that I've worn a Sabres jersey first over Detroit. And they both play tonight. I've discussed it elsewhere in previous threads, but I think my allegiances are officially shifting. Hoping to invest in a new Sabres jersey this year. I feel a bit silly wearing my Ott one (in a few years it'll be funnier I think) and all the big ones that d4rk lets me steal leave me with little toothpick legs and swimming underneath.

Ah, I remember that. I started at 5 an hour no overtime. Which is illegal I guess. After a year or so I was at 10 an hour still, salary. One of the RIT interns was complaining about low pay and I agreed, saying it sucked that I couldn't get past 10/hour after almost 2 years of work. His eyes got big and he told me that he was at $15 hourly + OT, which is the lowest I guess you can pay someone through an RIT internship program or something. He shut up after that, but not before telling me to get out. I was his boss, you see. That was 3 years ago. He's making about 5 times what I am now at a different company. Connections. Love my company so so much. Took years to get to a decent salary and found out my also artist friend/coworker was put at nearly my salary at his one year. But I'm an artist so I just have to bend over and take it. This is why I'm now considering giving up art as full time and going back to school for something involving zoology/nutrition. Kinda hit me this weekend as a "d'oh" moment. I've been involved with zoos/rescues my entire life, love science, and just stonewalled it as "vet or bust". But there's other directions, and maybe I'd be happier... I'm going to give Buffalo a chance next year, but if not... fu** it, back to school and into debt like the rest of the nation. I have this encyclopedic knowledge of animals and biology, I might as well use it.

Jeebus Crispers I'm sorry. There's more titillating user icons on this message board I wouldn't want being seen on my work station than a stupid comic with a rude word. Removed for decency.

edited for shrader's work. Sorry, I suck.
