*reads some other posts in here* Yikes. I'm a Sabres convert. I guess I'd share what reeled me in. I grew up surrounded by Red Wings fans. And the OSU/Michigan border battle. To be a fan, you had to pass a lot of gate keeping. Name this succession of coaches. Know a bunch of specific events. Attend a certain amount of games/parties otherwise you're not *really* a fan. It turned me away. I still loved watching, but as a relatively new hockey fan in high school, I wasn't welcomed or encouraged. But man, Sabres fans. What a cool fanbase. You mess up a name or a detail? No prob, let's educate you! Not a lecture, usually, an actual, passionate, usually personal story used to illustrate the importance of a singular event or person. Maybe it's because they've suffered so much, and are yet ever-hopeful. Maybe it's the blue collar/unassuming nature of the area. Maybe it's all the booze. I don't know, but Sabres fans are fun, excited, relatable folks. Lord knows when I started gaining interest in the sh!tburger era, the team certainly wasn't anything to get excited about. But everyone who wore the logo made me want to stick around and see what happens. And I do. I want to see where this team goes. I want this team to win. I cannot WAIT to be surrounded by a bunch of hooligans jumping up and down watching an amazing playoff game, even if I'm old, infirm, and incontinent by then. Sabres fans are so much fun. The team is getting better. I think we're all in for a really enjoyable fu*king ride. And your pal should join the party.

Been to one wedding without d4rk. Spent the whole night getting hit on by former jocks from my high school who wouldn't have given me the time of day/bullied me back when we were teens. At first it was kinda validating and funny. Then it got gross. No amount of dropping the b word helped. After enough booze, one of them got all dreamy eyed telling me about his new girlfriend, after trying to boink me all night. Drunk guys at weddings- no thanks. God I don't miss being single. Only ok if it's being grabbed!

Abso-fu*kin-lutely. She'd already started "getting her affairs in order". I was convinced that if that were the diagnosis, she'd off herself. This isn't great, but it's certainly a little easier to breathe now.

I know she's looking into it. But she's even more "hands in the air oh it cannot be helped woe is me i deserve to die" than I am. We were looking into suing her doctor who managed to miss all of this for years too. Us, a family that avoids legal stuff at all costs, looking into this stuff. Makes my head spin. Doing what I can to keep spirits up- putting together a care package for her and such. I don't really have any money, but hell, this all sucks, I'll do what I can.

Sister does NOT have cancer. Thank heavens. That's the best news we've had in some time. Hysterectomy will be Monday. Her company (Honda, she's a translator through a contract company for them) had said she could probably work from home and use up all her vacation (5 weeks saved up over the years) and be "loaned" an extra week. Recovery is supposed to be a minimum of 6 weeks. They don't do sick or disability for what she's going through. Kinda cruddy, but ok, we'll roll with it. Well, today they said Nope, can't work from home either, we're gonna bring in a temp, who'll mess with all her files and systems... and good luck getting your job back. UNLESS she can guarantee she'll be back a week early. How the hell is she supposed to know that? She's getting a fu*king C SECTION to have her fu*king UTERUS removed at age thirty-fu*kin-three. Years of exemplary service, no benefits, treated like dirt. I. Hate. Corporate. Culture.

Kind of an anti-cop view, but I dig Serpico too. Definitely Fargo. And Super Troopers. Literacola. -

I may have (probably have) told the story before, but years ago I traveled Europe with a band and choir, and we narrowly avoided being in the middle of the London Underground bombing. A couple days later we were in a stunning medieval church in Austria- a very small one, actually. Not a huge cathedral (though they are incredible) or anything, but a small, wooden, hand hewn chapel of sorts. Ancient wooden altar, beautiful artistry. The choir sang a heart rending hymn and we had a moment of silence for those lost in the bombing. It was the loudest moment of silence in my life thus far. It was overwhelming and humbling. Everyone, locals and us foreigners, was silently crying and there was a feeling of unity that I'll never forget. I am not religious, but moments like those can really make me understand why so many love and take solace in it. Those are the experiences that make travel so important.

D'aw. yous guys. I'm so torn up on the Pitt stuff. I have a ton of Pens fans following my twitter now and I want their money soo I can never be blunt about my dislike for their team anymore now hahah You can take your own now. You just have to fit the right size- templates are available online- I used an app on my phone. I took quite a few before I had one I liked. That way you can edit out any acne or such, too. I'm kinda surprised they let people do this- some of my photo pals could probably make their photo look like someone else. I bet they reject photos they deem too "filtered". I'm only photogenic from certain angles and even then... I never like it. let's just say I'm not a fan of my driver's license...

haha my bio for the upcoming Buffalo pieces is more about moving here and has a pic of me and Stuffy the stuffed bison at the Buffalo Science Museum. They were like... hey, for other cities, let's take out all the Buffalove... so I used my passport picture.

My first design for 26shirts is live now. But it's for Pittsburgh....

More gigs from 26shirts. But for Pittsburgh and Chicago. There's another Buffalo one in the works but... the player I'm working with is up on the trade block... so... fingers crossed...

Random... We've is stuck in Detroit Airport.... my Dad is stuck in Chicago trying to get to Detroit... Just been watching that line of storms regenerate over central Michigan and hammer DTW over and over again allll night. I'm down here in Toledo. Complaint Thursdays thread was closed when I saw it. Good luck, We've, hope you get out soon- tomorrow's forecast is storms from 4 am through all day :(

They insisted on keeping her contract so they never had to pay her benefits. She works 60-70 hours a week. She has a masters degree and is fluent in 5 languages. Never good enough. Mercenary mentality out there. Disability will only get her so far if it all works out. Believe me. I have some very very potent political and cultural criticisms right now. iTInSn, my heart goes out to you.

If I have learned anything from all the sh!t in my life right now... Go to a doctor. No diagnosis, not getting better? GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR. my sister was going to a doc for 4 years who managed to miss this massive tumor... you can see the thing through her skin. The idiot had her on drugs that made bleeding worse, she was having cluster migraines and almost stroked out. If it's cancer, we are suing. Good luck. I hope you can find an answer. God knows I know how awful what you're feeling is. Stomach stuff is the worst.

My sister hasn't been well for a long time. She couldn't really afford to go to a doctor. Tuesday we found out she has a tumor the size of a softball in her uterus. She is 33 and will have a hysterectomy soon. She stands to lose her job if she's out for too long. She is a cancer survivor already. We don't know if it's just a fibroid or cancer yet. I'm optimistic. My uncle has advanced prostate cancer. He has been given a poor prognosis. My father isn't well. Nor is my mother. My family is disintegrating around me. I'm really fu*king sick of sickness right now. I'm paying closest to $700 a month for my health insurance right now... I guess I'll use it to get a shrink, because I don't know how to cope with all of this.

Traveled across Europe with a concert band when I was 14. Learned a lot, shaped a lot of views. Studied abroad in Paris a few years ago- that was a magical summer. Visited Japan when my father and sister lived and worked there around Christmas one year. We had just cancelled our plans to go to Phuket, Thailand.... and we stood in my dad's apartment watching the Tsunami wipe out the resort we had reservations at. Not a great thing, but one of those life changing moments. But I've had life changing experiences in the mountains of Whistler, BC, in the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado after a heavy downpour at sunset, as a kid seeing a thunderstorm against the White Sands in New Mexico. I've been incredibly lucky to have traveled as much as I have. It makes not being able to travel pretty depressing. I like having a home base too much or I'd just constantly be wandering. There are so many places I'd like to see. Then again, there's so much to be said for hunkering down in one spot and just relaxing. I got some hard news today that's just got me really going over family vacations and thinking a lot. I regret that we didn't relax more on those trips and enjoy each other.
